Ottawa: "Construction of Lansdowne’s stadium, arena and parking garage appear to have generated an unusually large number of legal actions — from electricians and providers of steel and heating and air-conditioning systems — that amount to tens of millions of dollars." http://ottawacitizen.com/sports/football/cfl/lifting-lansdownes-veil-lawsuits-tell-story-of-cost-overruns-business-failure-and-layoffs

Are you referring to Harris Andrews? What would be the reverse of a RB... LB? Yep, supposed to be Andrew H.

Oh, I don't know. There's that least popular thing...

I'm curious if you know, or anyone else for that matter, how much Huff, Murphy, Petrie were making last season together? No one knows or probably even cared to ask until the riders made this move. For some reason it seems more like a big deal because its the Riders. I get it, its a bomber fan site, but still the question stands. Well, to be fair, who else could afford the "entirety" of those moves? -
And the scientists have left the building....

This is why Walters has to make every effort to reach out to Bilikudi as soon as possible. Knowing which way Christo is leaning will go a long way to determine FA strategy. If we can score both Andrew H. and Bilikudi, it would change the structure of our NI roster for the better, and the help determine the direction of our drafting.

It would be impressive, although a bit of a stretch. What happens if Chris Jones bolts for the good ole south? Lots to keep our eyes on. Not that much of a stretch, really. Redblacks went from 2-16 to 12-6 and a Grey Cup appearance. Doesn't always have to be a ten-year plan like the Bombers. Well, if this was a slap to the Bombers that you wanted, then you've achieved your goal. Of course teams can turn it around rather quickly, there are many examples of that. But Ottawa is only a partial example of that. It would have been more impressive if the road to 1st place wasn't paved with littered QB bodies from the other 3 teams they were battling. Their record versus "contending teams" was less than impressive. Still, they made it there, and deserve polite applause. We'll see this year, if reality meets expectations.

"We're not trying to scare anyone - we're trying to produce the best possible science and present the facts, and present it to policy makers so they can be informed on what the risk is." This is what matters and what should matter. The rest is all window-dressing and name calling, from one side or the other.

Thank you for putting the right wording to what I was trying to say - shadow roster, I like that description and that's what they were doing. Why? Because they could afford it. -

So Edmonton didn't have the biggest payroll in the CFL and used huge crowds to pay for it? -
It's not a stretch to say that one wouldn't affect the other, now would it? Wouldn't affect play design as much as the order of the reads and the decisions of the QB pre-snap. You're still talking theory about play design.I want to know if anyone saw shorter, same depth route runs, as in what actually was run during the games, not how it theoretically should be. You saw all kind of routes when Willy was playing, but less so after he was out. Based on 10 games I would assume. Did anybody else notice route running?

You basically answered your own question. Because there was success early, the Eskimos always had big crowds, in big stadiums and earned lots of dollars...which were used to acquire good players and afforded them the luxury of keeping them. Sure they must have had good scouting or connections, and good on them, but they could also afford it. And what was key? Quarterbacking. QBs? Wilkinson, Warren Moon, Lemmerman were kept on the roster at that time. Coaches? Don Matthews (asst coach) Cal Murphy (asst coach) Hugh Campbell (Head Coach) at one time. No, other teams couldn't spend with the Eskimos at that time, before the SMS. They were probably the example used to have some sort of cap in the league. -

That's absurd and can't say I saw that at all. Always deep routes, intermediate. Fewer deep throws after Willy went down because the QB's weren't good/comfortable, including Nichols. If the routes were ran at the same depth all the time you literally would complete about 20% of your passes maybe. That's someone with an agenda IMO. I should have stipulated that that observation was for only the @ BC game. And that would fit more into what you're saying because, with a Willy in the lineup, it seemed to me there were more deep routes, or more of the playbook was open. After Willy got hurt, I can see MB using less of the playbook, safer, shorter routes, with a deep route, now and then. I definitely could see more of a 'grouping' of receivers....which is never a good thing. Anybody else?
-
It's very difficult to observe the routes our receivers ran last year by watching on TV. But I was told, from an observer field level, that the routes were run practically to the same depth, which of course, makes little sense. Now, if there are STHs, or even casual game by game observers who can confirm or dispute that, please, let us know. It would explain a lot about the failings of that offence.

Stand by, because I think the trinity will be transformed into the quarternity OR my preferred TETRAD (a group or set of 4).LaPolice makes it the top 4....

I'm looking forward to Feb. for more than the Free Agency excitement next year as that is when the CFL will unveil a more comprehensive package of statistical data thanks to CFL head statistician Steve Daniel. The CFL and its nine teams rolled out their new websites on Monday, but there is only a slight improvement when it comes to statistical information available. The league is targeting February for the rollout of its vast historical data, and starting next season Daniel and his volunteer stats crews across the country will add what he calls “texture” to the numbers. To which quadrant the quarterback throws the ball — short left, medium middle or long right, for example — is one such addition. And.. Vanessa Morbi - broadcast and media director - We need to get our stats out to our fans. The fact that people are waiting five, 10 minutes — sometimes a lot longer than that — to get their stats is just unacceptable. The expectation cost, in terms of digital, is huge these days. We’re just not there. We have to get there quickly.” Daniel is also working on a new quarterback efficiency rating formula that he feels would be more indicative of a passer’s worth, he hopes to be able to do snap counts for each player as soon as possible, and he would like, for instance, to one day be able to track how many sacks each offensive lineman surrenders. Morbi says the new stats system will also allow developers to come up with new programs related to the CFL game, which should attract the next generation of fans the league is desperately seeking. That includes a video game.... http://www.torontosun.com/2015/12/08/cfl-to-enter-21st-century-ramp-up-online-statistics-database

Common..Anyway, I'm not in corner of a LaPolice rehire...we can aim higher, but what I was saying is that it didn't matter what name was inserted there, you were a-shakin, and a-sighin. He's not even hired yet. Khari Jones? Nah..too buddy buddy...shaking and a sighin Jason Maas? Nah..wouldn't pay for him..and he's too new...shaking and a sighin Jarious Jackson? Nah..no experience...shaking and a sighinChad Allen? Just shaking all over.. That's my point... just wanted to point out I only liked this post b/c of the Chad Allen reference... Also, the word you're looking for id c'mon.... unless you meant that his response was a common one... in which case "typical" would probably have been a better choice... Well, I did use c'mon when I first broached the subject, but that was parroted in the reply. Really?Anyways, using common was a way around that parroting....and it worked, in an unusual way. An uncommon opening, I grant you, and may have lead to confusion. Sorry about that. Welcome to my world. -

There was an interesting article (don't know if anyone has linked it here) that talked about the need to implement an "administrative cap" .. thought it was on point. I'll see if I can dig it up .. edit: here it is - http://3downnation.com/2015/12/08/its-time-again-for-a-cfl-spending-cap-it-saved-the-riders-once/ This reminds me of the days when Edmonton could 'buy' their way into the Grey Cup. The Bombers had some good teams back then, but not the same purse strings. Result? 5 Grey Cups in a row for Edmonton.Another result? The SMS. Saskatchewan probably threw a few TD passes with these hires, and everybody is stunned...and jealous. But could any other team have afforded these moves? I highly doubt it. Good or bad, it's moving forward... -
ANd do we think Lapolice is taking this job right now for any reason other than he thinks if O'Shea gets fired he'll get another chance to wear the big head set? Nope. LaPo has to be somewhat successful to add to his resume. He has virtually tied his success to the team's success. If they fail miserably, there will be wholesale changes along with no guarantees. He'd have had a better chance, in your scenario, to go to BC. Of course, there is the possibility that he will be successful, and still be open to a HC position opening up somewhere else.
