CFL - End of Season Notes: Offences increased their scoring by the equivalent of one more touchdown per game – up to 44.5 points on offence per game in 2015 from 37.7 points per game in 2014 (the lowest we had had since 1979). Compare that 18% increase in 2015 to the drastic 23% decrease in scoring offence for 2014 over 2013. Scoring by offences averaged 40.1 points per game over the first half of the year, and jumped to 48.9 ppg over the final 41 games – a nice 22% increase. In 2014 the CFL had a touchdown drive only one time in every 7.9 possessions – the lowest TD rate since the league started to track results by possession in 2008. In 2015, there were 48 more TD drives than there were in 2014 (357 TDs vs 309 TDs by offences) – an increase of 17%. One key is the dramatic reduction in Two-and-Outs in 2015: down by over 12% at 10.7 per game compared to 12.2 per game in 2014. What the league didn't say, and it was nice of them not to point it out, was that if Winnipeg wasn't factored in, those Offensive stats would be a lot higher. In 2015, 35% of CFL games (28 of 81) were decided by 4 points or less and that is an all-time CFL record; there were 44 games settled in the final 3:00, 54% of the total. Major change over 2014 as passing was responsible for 74% of total yards gained compared to just 69% in 2014. That is an enormous change in just a single year. Total rushing attempts dropped from 39.7 per game down to 37.1 in 2015 – the fewest rushes per game in the last 23 years. Following the rule change, kicked convert success rate dropped from 99.4% to 85.5% in 2015. That was better than the expected value of approx. 81% (the FG success rate from the distance 2010-2014). 2 point conversion rate was 65.9% The final result was higher than expected at 66% successful tries in 2015. The main reason was due to the rule change that moved the attempt to the 3-yard line – the rate declined as the season went on however. In 2014, the CFL experienced an 18% increase in penalties per game, the largest jump in CFL history. Though they increased again in 2015 the growth was just 9%. The main area of increase was holding, illegal block and pass defence calls such as Illegal Contact on a Receiver. 102 Coaches's challenges 1.26 per gameVirtually unchanged in frequency and success rate from 2014 (1.23 per game) with 34% of them resulting in an overturned ruling on the field.

James West - Jamaal Westerman - Works for me. -
That's exactly the game the Jets should be playing, are capable of playing, and when they do..they are successful. Hard skating, nice forechecking, always "on" the other team. Nice goals from Perrault and especially Ehlers. ONE penalty and 1-3 on the power play. They allowed only 15 shots on net. Good start to the road trip.

Take note Mike, take note... @PentonKirk: If practices competed against one another, the #Eskimos practice would beat the #Bombers practice 48-2.

Well, what the h ell are they supposed to say when it is sold out? As per duh, how else could you say it? Add "Really, it is!"?

So you think it lacks somewhat in imagination? I do like the three laces....for 3 down football, but it looks a bit truncated, uncolorful, sort of vanilla, yes, like a certain offence I've become accustomed to...

Have to make mention and acknowledgment of Mark Stuart who recently (last game) recorded his 1000th blocked shot in the NHL. 1002 blocked shots! That's a lot of blocks. He's had 5.3 blocks for every 60 minutes (6.1 career) he's played and he hits 10.2 times for every 60 minutes (7.4 career) for games this year. Keep your head up when you face him...

Through the years…. I have no proof, but it looks like Marcel B. had a hand in the new design.

What were the realistic expectations regarding the Jets and where they would finish this year? Playoff position? And then contend a little bit better? Hard to say. A few changes, but looking to the future is how I see the Jets putting together their roster. They've had a lot of good chances to draft players and they've drafted well. But how to fit them in? Tough process, but doable. But where they're failing is in the basics of the game, not necessarily the talent. They've had horrible, bottom of the league penalty-killing, and power play. 22nd and 27th respectfully. They lead the league in taking penalties. This not only disrupts the lines, but also cuts into the new players' playing time. Dominoes. Our attack game is affected by this, and we have seen some effective offensive zone play...not so much finishing. Also, their defensive zone work needs a lot of work. Very sloppy and incomplete. This leads to pressure on the goalies and bad goals. We've seen plenty of both. Our goaltending has been -C, our defence is in the C category, save for Enstrom and Byfuglien, and our offence averages in the Cs with the exception of - Wheeler, Little, Scheifele, Ehlers, and maybe Perrault. We are in the position we are because of how they're playing, not who they're playing. I don't disagree with our lineup right now except for maybe Peluso. Why he's still on this team...I just don't know.

I always did get in trouble for putting 'L's in the wrong place..

I may have been mistaken. He may have said Adidas. The link is up to watch if you want.Too late, you've made your mistakes for today. You now must wear one item from Reebok and one item from adidas for the rest of the week and call yourself Mike, then Jefferey, when identifying yourself in all traffic stops when fleeing Police.

Reebok is part of the adidas group.

I read this about 4 times trying to figure out what swear you used...That's easy, it was ****.

East Division Final - Ottawa over Hamilton

There is a whole world of unexplored offensive schemes available for an imaginative OC up here in Canada, especially with all the motion and size of the fields. I can only hope that whomever our next OC is, that he will tap into an offence to make us a force again... not a stale, easily-identified, out-of-date, facsimile. -

Masoli's performance goes to show what good QB coaching and game planning can accomplish. Condell and Austin designed the offence around him instead of trying to squeeze him into shoes fit for Collaros. Yes. Some good plays built for his...style. But from now on, misery for Masoli. -
The Bombers org. based their last two years on building towards something good happening in Bomberland, what with the new staff that had been hired. They signed a lot of their own FAs over that time and added key FAs from outside. They drafted with the future in mind and believed that with the Bombers hosting the cup in 2015, that they would be close enough to be a party to the party. It's not inconceivable that, with that in mind, and the guidelines presented by the league, that these prices for tickets were bandied about and agreed upon. From there, everything went wrong. Both the Bombers and the next in line, Sask. Riders were blown out and along with them, ticket sales. If everything had gone according to plan, I doubt there would be as much consternation. It's just like the last few Bomber seasons..expectations exceeded actuallities. It looked good at the start. But now the teams are set, and I'd expect any remaining tickets to be scooped up...maybe even through Kijiji.
