I don't really see that chap being responsible for those two QB injuries though, but I have noticed he has a propensity to go away from "running the ball", and that could be a concern.

I don't know why you guys who love to watch NFL football have to come on here and rag on the league that I enjoy watching. Watch your football and let me watch mine. I don't care how superior you think it is, why do you feel the need to tell me about it? All I can say is, if you don't like the caliber of play in the CFL as opposed to the magnificent NFL, then why watch the CFL? To each his own. Rant over..

There's a whole lot of nothing behind what Walters said in the interview. The only thing I saw and heard was the standard not "throwing somebody under the bus" statement. He as asked about Brohm losing games for us this year, (incorrectly worded question) and he said the standard "it's hard to come in under those circumstances" spiel. I don't think there is any way they are leaning towards keeping Brohm past the end of year releases or until a vet QB backup is signed.

The draft picks would have been #2 our pick, #10 Sask pick acquired from Edm, and #11 our pick again in the second round #2 for Waggoner so, 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. Eight picks, but the rounds are 9 full picks in the second round. 10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18 So, #10 pick is the #9 selection and the 11th pick is the 10 selection. Or to put it another way, our first selection is the #10 pick or the 9th selection, And our second selection is the #11 pick or the 10th selection. Who says that something so conceptual could present a problem?

More on the Coordinators - THE COORDINATORS A tough decision was made this week in deciding to not renewing the contract of our offensive coordinator. It produced somewhat of an interesting storyline - that Mike O’Shea doesn’t know how to hire coordinators. Yes, he has made changes to three coordinator positions in two years. But there is a bit of an underlying story to this that is worth sharing. When CEO Wade Miller, GM Kyle Walters, and Head Coach Mike O’Shea took the reins of this franchise, we were troubled in many aspects, including the perception of the franchise around the league. Free agents didn’t want to come here, and coaches didn’t either. When Coach O’Shea took over, his first call was to a now offensive coordinator who is having immense success at that position, but the offer was declined. Mike’s next call was to a high-profile defensive specialist. Again, the offer was declined. Wade, Kyle and Mike not only had to deal with the mess that was the roster, but the perception that Winnipeg wasn’t an ideal destination to coach or play either. The good news is that perception is changing. Stability and continuity at the high-level positions are in place, and high-prized free agents, who could have chosen to go anywhere, are now choosing Winnipeg (think of Jamaal Westerman and Ian Wild among others). A few nights ago, in casual conversation, I asked a player who chose Winnipeg over other markets this season knowing full well the money was equal, why Winnipeg? His answer might surprise you: “Winnipeg operates like an NFL team now. The other places don’t. And even though the team isn’t winning, I felt it was headed north.” Sure, none of this matters if the team doesn’t win. But one of the first ways to start winning is to be able to attract and hire the right people, whether it be a coach or a player. Almost every winning organization in sports is thought of as an ‘elite organization’. That’s not a coincidence. More on MOS: - THE HEAD COACH For a guy who holds the title of most games played by a defensive player, won four Grey Cups, and is second in league history in tackles, his toughness sure gets put into question frequently. Many times throughout the season, including in his end of year address Tuesday, he was asked why he doesn’t show more emotion, (i.e. getting after players on the sidelines during a game) for everyone to see. Have you ever heard the saying “don’t believe everything you read?” Well, don’t believe everything you see, either. His ‘calm’ demeanor on the sidelines is often misconstrued, because he’s the type of guy that can send Goosebumps down your spine simply by looking at you. Fans didn’t hear him walk up to a player this season and say, “you ever do that again I’ll cut your *** right on the *** sidelines.” They didn’t see him storm into the locker room at halftime of a road game this year, and with the room dead silent say, “that’s the most embarrassing half of football I have EVER been a part of.” Fans don’t see the look in his eyes as he roams the locker room at halftime, diminishing players to a cower for taking a stupid penalty. People say Coach O’Shea isn’t emotional. Ask any player, and they will agree, he is hands-down one of the most emotional people I have ever met. He commands the respect of our locker room like no coach I have ever worked with, and as he told me the other day, “We WILL get this right. Marshall isn't that kind of game breaker - not play maker. A breaker who, on one touch can outrun everybody on one touch. Marshall is prized for the kind of player he is..a pounder and a heavy runner who can also catch the ball out of the backfield. He isn't going anywhere. Share time with Chevon? Like for 5 weeks until Scott came back? I'm not sure Marshall is an every play back, but he isn't being dismissed at all by Walters that I could see.

Drop 6 players from the starting lineup? I'm thinking you're talking over-reaction here. Big time. I'm thinking you believe this team is much better than what they actually are. They're a good team, simply fighting to make the playoffs. It probably would be better if you if your curbed your expectations a #18.

Actually he did address the RB situation in stating that 2 guys were earmarked for the "smaller-quicker" back spot - Carlos Anderson and Cotton. Both, unfortunately, went down with injury. And Marshall wasn't meant to be that kind of back. He didn't mention Walker at all, because unlike some people on this board, he was never meant to be "that guy". He was just an emergency replacement filler, who has played in the CFL. Don't know why anybody figured any different. He was here and gone before anybody could have been brought in and learned the system. Besides, D. Scott came off the 6 game IR. Another reason Walker was signed short term.

I listened to the presser, in two parts, and came away thinking they are serious and focused on improving things on the football. They are far from satisfied from with the results, of course, but remain adamant that it can get done. From the free agents, to the d-line, to the o-line and RBs and QBs, everything was touched on. It's worth a listen for sure.

I think some people are severely underestimating the MOS's understanding of the game in Canadian football, and therein lies the problem. They only think of him as a great MLB, not as a guy who has seen and learned from some of the best coaches this league has seen. The problem(s) MOS has had to face are probably only partially known to the common fan. After all, it is Winnipeg were talking about. From what I've seen and read, there are many "fans" of what MOS is doing in the 'Peg and that alone makes me reflect on what they're saying. More time..we're close. Good. We're moving on with O'Shea and I hope to high heaven it works out for him to justify the faith he has shown in this org.

I don't know who thought of this lame idea of interviewing players for "insight", but just leave the friggin guys alone when all they really want to do is get their heads back into the game and not worry about answering how that stupid puck went in the net.As a segment idea, to run on TV, it's weak. They must have stolen the weak idea concept from CFL on TSN, with their lame "interviews during games segments."

Give me a new coach who doesn't start handoffs with the RB at a stanstill, or too late, or 5 yards deep, or always in the same position, or always running inside, who can judge a QB's worth within a few looks, who can design a package to include all our receivers, with a few slants thrown in, a guy that designs an offence to surprise the opposing defence at the right time like O'Shea does on STs., a different look on display that has the opposition ??? guessing, an exciting offence that completely erases the mud-running-short-yard-SAFE designs that we've seen for close to a million years, and I don't care if he's new guy or an experienced one that drives around on a golf cart old. Tell me, is that too much to ask?

Yup, Pavelec to start and the changes are as you noted. I like this new 4th line a lot. Maybe, by playing well enough, they can score and get more ice time. Potential.

Winnipeg has dropped three straight entering this one, and they're hungry for a win.
