The one distinct area where I show concern lays at the feet of the scouting dept., specifically Danny McManus. I love the fact that the Bombers had finally invested more than a train ticket budget to have a real football operations dept., but how many of you are surprised/shocked that we don't have a steady stream of players that can pass the muster and push for roster spots? I know I am. This area gets a failing grade from me.

The problem with this is convincing the other teams to employ 70 year old DBs.. -
Yeah, like that was about to happen.. Actually, that doesn't prevent that from still happening.

Stop...you're both right. But it does involve actually knowing your opponent. Surely, there are weaknesses to be exploited in a team's run defence that we can attack right of the bat that would open up the run game. Did anybody expect Montreal to run their asses off against BC their last game? (and I do know about Montreal's O-line)
-
2 other teams have already decided they don't need the guy he's a runningback, those guys don't get 3 chances to fail I know that. I don't necessarily like the move myself, but really, what the hell harm can it do?

Sask has the edge at QB tho, in my opinion, and that will be the difference. Yes, that's what I thought when Chamblin was fired. Now, the chance of pulling Smith unnecessarily, and sticking in Sunseri (the sack-attractor) to our benefit, is zero.

Talk about over-reaction. This is talking about a guy's vast potential...in reverse. Geez, can we let the guy fail before everybody's declared an idiot?

Do or Die Detailed Half Time Report...
Mr Dee replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
But that's the very point isn't it? To try to get to the point that Calgary is at? If you get a first shot at a reputed good player, don't you have to make that bid? If you believe that player to be a good one, and others seem to agree, why pass on him, and take a chance in the next draft on an unknown player at this point? Why wouldn't you want to fill your reservoir with good NI players if the opportunity is presented to you? I get that we need O-Line guys, we really do, but I'll take quality players any time that we can get them, especially if we get first dibs. -
Marve was "officially" sacked 5 times against Calgary. Twice, Marve got happy feet and strayed from the protection of the pocket...and promptly got sacked. Once by his own happy feet. Marve has to get that ball out over the middle, fast and with accuracy. It is up to MB to give him this opportunity. Marve will not get to his third read...

Then apologize As if. I never posted any link to that group. Of course you won't apologize. The NDP never does. And this is why you guys lose election after election, your arrogance nails you every single time. Just leave me out of your petty little rants and carry on in your own little world. Leave me out of it.

The funding formula has changed and expired in 2014. The Cons refused to meet with the provinces and territories. They changed the transfer from a needs-based formula to a per capita. It will change again in 2017. Quote - "All provinces except Alberta will receive less funding under this new model. These changes reduce the federal share of health funding from 20 per cent to 12 per cent. The Conservatives have indeed cut funding by $36 million nationally, a figure released by the premiers at their July 2012 meeting. The report, the 2012 Report of the Council of the Federation Working Group, was written by provincial and territorial finance ministers." - James Hutt "Organizations and politicians from across the political spectrum have denounced the cuts. Last month, all 13 of Canada’s premiers, even the Conservatives among them, voiced opposition to Harper’s changes and united in a call for the federal government to increase its share of health funding to 25 per cent." "Even the Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO), the independent office responsible for assessing the country’s finances, has twice confirmed the $36 billion cut and issued dire warnings of its impacts."

I did not link any such group and I do not "parrot" any lies. Those are all your words.I see that when you don't like what you hear, you try to find something(one) to blame it on. All the better if it's the NDP. I'd appreciate it if you didn't use my name in any association with your anger. Direct your angst somewhere else.

Bombers Season Officially over time of death...
Mr Dee replied to sportmentary2012's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I have a friend who isn't married, but he has lots of books…and is an expert on people who hobble on crutches. He says he won't go on record on how long Willy will be out of the lineup, but he has a source that he says never fails him. -
Bombers Season Officially over time of death...
Mr Dee replied to sportmentary2012's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If Willy is fit...he will play. Why? Because you always play...to win. For a million reasons, least of which, is for your own self. Willy has that attitude, as should every player who puts on that uni. -
I do not know why ALL the old group was brought back. Surely to hell, they could have foreseen Portis was too far off...as he had been around already. Marve was intriguing I guess, and Brohm? Well I suppose they thought he was the safety net. EVERYBODY, it seems, in the last ten years, or so, can't find a guy, who knows a guy, that can get us a friggin' Quarterback. That should have been the #1 priority in the last off season...not believing that they were safe because they had 4 guys signed already. The biggest failure in recruiting. We're paying the price for shortsightedness...and I'm not talking about Bellefeuille's height.

Jest some leftovers... - On Bucknor's interception, I thought Bucknor made a nice read on BLM, and made a very nice play. - I thought the defensive effort, especially in the 1st half, was outstanding. Lots of hustle, Gang tackling and lots of general disruption. - in the game the Bombers had as much pressure from the defensive line as Calgary...the very big difference being BLM vs RM. BLM - experienced and has a good grasp of a good offence. Marve - a rookie's rookie with some sort of grasp of some sort of offensive game plan. Calgary had 5 sacks...Winnipeg 2 (I'd say, at least 2 sacks were Marve and his happy feet) - spirited ST's play...blocked punt and lots of hustle. Derek Jones was noticeable. As was... C Randle 7 tackles Denmark's effort on his tackle on the interception. Lirim had an outstanding kicking day. Stoudermire had his best game. Westerman....again. Not good.. The falloff in our team's play from Willy's injury, is eerily similar to Sask's collapse after Durant went down last year. 16 penalties. Calgary averaged 11.8 yards per pass. The Bombers? 4.0 yards per pass. Calgary - 23 1st downs Winnipeg? 10 That is all...

O'Shea was NOT right. Brohm was and is far worse than Marve, even with Marve's putrid display Saturday. Brohm hit his performance ceiling as soon as he arrived and has not progressed, but Marve was an unknown, and maybe still is. If the GM and coaches saw that Marve was only as good as he was against Calgary, why in Hades did they even bother keeping him around? Buck can hold a clipboard as well as anyone.O'Shea said he wasn't ready, and he is right..he isn't. He may never be. Scary as it might sound, Brohm was the better option..as backup at the time. Now, it's pretty obvious, we don't even have a backup.Time for the next man up. This QB thing, over the last few years is...killing us.
-
My question is to all the "put Marve in" backers - who were screaming for MOS's head for not playing Marve, are you willing to admit he was right? I think the Bombers have slowly realized how flunked they are at QB...hence the bringing in of those two QBs on the roster. Marve, right now, is no more than a long shot...as a third stringer. Elevate Davis and eliminate Brohm. It's the only move we have right now. We have to beat Saskatchewan and I don't care if they have to bring back Yantz to do it. Don't give Brohm any more reps...cut him, give the reps to Davis.
-
I said it last night, but I'll repeat it here. If that young guy on the PR is of any use, they should release Brian Brohm today. And it doesn't matter if there is no experience behind Marve. It does not benefit us, in the least, to have Brian Brohm on our team. Move on and bring some more in. This week, if not sooner.

Do or Die Detailed Half Time Report...
Mr Dee replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Just a comment on the QB issues. Does anybody now question the reason why they were telling us that Marve wasn't ready? .....He's a 3rd string QB at this point, and maybe that is what he'll stay. But he cannot be blamed for tonight's failure. He isn't ready. That passive-passive game plan attack was ideal....for about 5 minutes. We were playing offence on a sandy beach while Calgary had solid footing. Why, oh why didn't we take a page out of the Stamps playbook and throw that slant across the middle? And wait until the 4th quarter to use Veltung? Nuts. One more thing about the QBs, and I couldn't be more serious. If this new kid Russell, on the PR, can throw the ball forward, in any capacity.....cut Brohm tomorrow. -
You can't be serious... Geez man, it seems sometimes, not always, that anytime a person posts something that runs counter to what you believe, you respond with these type statements. The hypocrisy is dripping here. I think some of us take more of an eclectic approach to politics and sensitive issues by not branding our ideologies as left, center or right. We take it issue by issue using the best facts available to form our perspectives. We sometimes don't get it right but always try to take an evidence-informed approach, identifying any bias's we may have a long the way. We can't brand ourselves with only one political strip but we can always aspire to be a sound critical thinker hopefully adding value to the discussion. It's not what I believe KBF. It's what has been shown to be true. These are not fabrications. These points made about Harper are supported by fact.My last statement is a comment on what you said about not caring what he has done. I still say sheesh.
