I see that we're still comparing QBs and not the same game situations that the QB.s were in.

Congratulations, you've won the worst comparison of the month award. Your prize - free membership at Riderfans.com. where they do that all the time.MB is that you? Brohm reminds me of Brink... Lots of chances, decent amount of experience yet he could never get the job done.Your comment is rider fan like with your blind love for a guy who has done nothing so far aside from disappoint. He hasn't even really shown any glimmer of hope. I'm sure Marve isnt going to be the next Flutie but at least with his limited time he has shown something or at least potential upside. Two more awards coming up for you gentlemen. I'm not not comparing Cato to Brohm. That could be saved for another thread or two. I was referring to the fact that Cato had 1st string reps for an unsuspecting Calgary team, and a very good game plan at that, while Brohm was thrown in the game with little or no reps against a team that is fully aware of how to pressure him. Kudos to Mr Cato, but if the situations were reversed, methinks he wouldn't be getting all that love.

The thing I hate about statements like the ones you're making, is you make it seem like they WANT to lose. Like they aren't trying as hard as they can to win, and doing everything they can to win. You don't think these guys are desperate to win?? What more can they do than everything possible...??This is the problem in a nutshell- if you think that the players did as good as they could against Hamilton, the team is in big trouble. Hey, you changed his wording from "trying as hard as they can" to "players did as good as they could." No fair. Because there is a difference.

Does the New Convert Rule Improve the CFL?
Mr Dee replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Let's face it..kicking is a part of the game. A big part. You can look at the new convert rule as having too much influence on the outcome of the game or, you can realize that out league is a leader in amending one part of the game - the convert, that was boring in its automaticacy ( new word, not as boring) and challenging the Coaches to think again about the 2 point convert. Maybe by missing a convert, you'll have to try the 2 point version. And besides, now I actually watch the converts. -

Baby steps Dee .. Baby steps. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that this sort of thing happens quite a bit to the Bombers. An incongruity occurs, seemingly often to the Bombers, a letter for explanation is sent in to the league, and is returned stating that we were right, and that whatever took place, shouldn't have taken place, and it's really too bad...blah, blah, blah. Sorry. Trouble...Same old s(t)orry. -

Good. Now can we speed this process up to about, oh, 2 seconds after the the very obvious illegal hit? You know, where and when the officials are supposed to be watching for this exact kind of things on QUARTERBACKS? -
Everybody's on Randle's case, but I'm pretty sure there was marked improvement in his play, in the 2nd game, over the 1st. He needs to acquire that same comfort zone playing LB as he had playing corner. He, and the Coaches feel he can get there. There is also that time frame where LB meets DE, meets int. lineman, and the timing aspect of their blitzes. They're learning a new package and new personnel against some pretty good teams in their first 2 weeks. Is that just an excuse? I don't know, I think our past disappointments have eroded our patience in regards to this defence as it stands now. I'm looking forward to better performances from this group, because I do see the effort.

From Ed Tait...in the tunnel? -
Must be the Bomber thing, because If you watched the Tor. at Sask. game, you should have been excited to see a very good game fought by two decent teams, and the absolute right result, as determined by the football gods, who now appear to have determined green should not be so prominant in public places.

Does the New Convert Rule Improve the CFL?
Mr Dee replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm being converted to the scrimmage at the 25 yard line for the extra point rule. It's innovative, and puts more emphasis on getting all parts to function, instead of being automatic. -

You would think that after all the comments and attention that was given to the hit that Willy took, that the refs would be specifically looking for moronic plays like the macho move that Harris put on Harris. Like, right in your face Trevor...BAM 15 harder right there. But no, nobody saw it...lame. -
CFL Week 2 Other Games - CGY at MTL / BC at OTT / TOR at SSK

Until the Barker/Milanovich regime, we hadn't developed a QB in well over 30 years. Hey, all of a sudden, mysteriously, the Eastern Boys are back.Anyways, welcome back. -

I'll say it right now, Kevin Glenn is better than Tino Sunseri. -
When does attendance dip on a consistent basis?
Mr Dee replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The real question is: how many teams have gotten their butts kicked this year so far? I think it's the Bombers and Edmonton that got beat good. You might even include Calgary. We had more scored against us, but 21 points on turnovers will do that to you every time. There is no way, in those 3 games, that the butt-kicked teams would have won. -
Why do you think that, based on what you've seen so far? The trouble is, I don't think we've seen enough so far. With the deployment of 3 new LBs behind a crop of 4 linemen (1 new to the league) I'd be hesitant to lay it at the feet of the players so far. Especially when we don't know the exact scheme they're learning. I'll admit, it sure doesn't look good, but it's too soon to tell. That front 7 problem is going to have to be resolved soon, so that changes can be made where necessary. Let's hope it is just mistakes, because those can be corrected. Talent...not so much.

CFL Week 2 Other Games - CGY at MTL / BC at OTT / TOR at SSK
Mr Dee replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Calgary @ Montreal I suppose there are really 2 stories here. The impressive starting performance by 23 year old Rakeem Cato and the very average performance by BL Mitchell and the Stampeders. Cato 20-25 for 241 yards in his debut. A very simple and effective game plan drawn up for Cato. Run the ball with Sutton and short, easy passes for Cato. These were executed very well by everyone involved. And he had help. SJ green 7 catches, Nic Lewis - only 3 catches but they were vintage Lewis. And Sam Giguere - 4 catches, 39 yards. There was nothing flashy in Montreal's offence but they used, and protected Cato, and he played the position flawlessly. If you stop Cornish, you have a good chance to stop Calgary. Montreal's defence did just that. Combine that with Mitchell's 19-31 passing, and you get the opportunity to knock off the Champs. And Montreal did that big time. Good on them. And I agree with JBR on a similar game plan for Marve, if the Bombers should so choose. The question is..could Marve execute in the same manner? -

Is that a pro Danny Mac comment or a negative because up to this point Collaros is the better QB. I suppose that has nothing to do with being on a better team? -

Mr Dee replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Congratulations on making comparisons on two completely different situations and trying to equate Cato's success with what Marve would have done. Montreal out-game-planned Calgary and Hamilton out-game-planned us. That's where the comparisons should end. -

Brohm and Bellefeuille are dating. Enough of this _ _ _ _ already. -
Another thing that ticked me off about last night's game was the fact that Clarence Denmark's streak of catching at least 1 pass in a game has ended at 34. Piss me off.

You should really make your feelings clear on who you prefer...Marve or Brohm?

Randle had 7 tackles in yesterday's game and is showing why he is an effective player. He is not the problem, but he can be part of the solution. It's highly obvious, after 2 games, that we're ineffective on defence, and it can all be traced to not getting pressure on the QB. It does all stem from there. Is it good players caught in a bad system? Or a mixture of player performance and ineffective play calling? It sure seems that we don't have key players on the front line to start. The LBs? Still early for them. The system? Only 2 games in but we're not doing anything that can be construed as encouraging. We need a dynamic MLB who has a killer instinct who doesn't have to thump his chest to show how good he is. We'll just know.

People can trash talk all they want and I was bad-mouthing Brohm too, BUT, finally I realized that Brohm was thrown in cold...in the worst possible situation. The game changed..the crowd changed...and yes, the Bombers changed the very minute it was obvious that Willy was really injured, and not just knocked down. You can talk and joke about deflated balls, but the whole team deflated and was in shock for a good quarter after that. The game was over. Hamilton knew they had us and worse...we fell into that for a period too. But above all, we have to realize that that is probably the best defence we are going to see this year. That was an outstanding job of blitzing and play calling and I would have to assume that even with Willy in the game, and with our putrid defence, we would have been swallowed up. Not as badly, but still beaten. So this talk about Brohm's manner and his putrid arm have got to be taken in context. He never had time to set up and throw. Bad passes? Sure. Short-hopping? Yup. All not good, but like it or not, O'Shea was right in letting him play. (and I wanted to see Marve too) Brohm needs the reps because he is the back up QB...until proven otherwise. And despite all the rah-rahing for a QB change, do you really think you know what you're asking for? Yeah, yeah, I know. A chance. A chance to get killed and ruin Marve too.

I don't know how you don't see helmet to helmet contact when the person you're responsible for protecting, is swung around in a play that everybody is watching, and the said QB is suddenly banged the other way by a helmet-launched Ti-cat player??
