  1. If fans aren't allowed access, what does it matter? There is effectively no difference between the two. At no point do I believe the Bombers were going to close off practices to the public. While I might normally be inclined to agree with the "wait and see, let's give them the benefit of the doubt" approach, I've seen far too many examples in recent years of this team making bone-headed decisions only to reverse policy in the face of an outcry. The fans reaction seems to be the only thing that gets this organization to take fans into account. It's really the strangest thing. There shouldn't be a single non-football ops decision that doesn't get placed under the microscope of "how will this affect fans?" at some point in the process. From a non-football ops perspective, it is or should be the point of everything they do. How do they continually make missteps on the single most important aspect of that side of the business? Honestly, that question should show up on a poster in every single office and meeting room in Bomber headquarters, and if I was working there, it would. While I agree all circumstances should be looked at when special events take over the stadium, I have no way of knowing how long the Bomber staff had to wait to get certain information from the 'Soccer people'. As far as I know, the first game isn't until June 8th or something. Seems like time enough for me, but then I don't know what demands or requests were made for Stadium time. I also don't know how much involvement there was from the University's perspective. They they get the necessary requests in time for the use of other facilities? And did they answer in time? Were the facilities 'open' for use? Field ready? Were the Bombers waiting for the necessary information themselves? There is still more that the Org. can do to - point by point, to relay correct information to the public, on that we can agree, but the reaction to this past incident is too over the top for me. Let's see what they have planned. And now…to golf.
  2. I'm assuming the Bombers are interested in Waggoner, but will it be BC and Ottawa who we're competing with? The question then becomes, is the guy worth a solid pick, like a 2nd? Count me in as being interested.
  3. I didn't get the correct decoder ring either.
  4. Failure... ……………scuttled………… It's not Mr Rogers neighbourhood….
  5. That automatically makes it a non-issue, doesn't it?
  6. Why don't we just wait and see what the Bombers have in store for this upcoming TC before we, once again, go ape-****-down-on-the-Bombers. It's not like we've haven't seen something like this happen, where the fans react, and it's totally out of portion to the situation at hand. Put the matches back in the drawer.
  7. Absolutely right. This is a huge snag for Winnipeg' sports community due to its popularity, and it will make great use of this facility. Win-win for Winnipeg. This event should be applauded by the city...even though it does displace our favorite team.
  8. Yep, one-year-pay-as-you-go contracts looks like the way to go from now on.
  9. Social media to the rescue! I'd imagine if enough email, tweets and phone calls hit the service lines they will figure out a way to make it work.. Don't worry, Gbill's already on it. (And that's a good thing)
  10. Big mistake
  11. Those numbers are interesting, but not surprising. I just wish you would have included figures for, say, a CFL fan forum. For instance, the Rider forum probably has a third of the Province as members on their website. That's a large number for any given day. Of course, if you eliminated active members, or even non-related members, that number would go way down.
  12. I'm not sure a trade for Greaves at this point is in the best interest of the Bombers. Just when the scenario looks to be at its best in years, we're thinking of a trade? It would have to be a doozie. Perhaps Walters does have a better overall plan for the fitting of another starter in the lineup...but he better be a Canadian starter and be very good. But if he was, he would not save us major SMS money. I agree that they have already factored in a lot of the SMS money that they've spread around, but there's nothing wrong with exploring other options. Right now, I don't like the idea, but I can be convinced otherwise. Convince me Kyle...so far you've been doing a good job of doing that anyways.
  13. Congratulations to the host team - Portage Terriers for persevering to reach, and win the RBC Junior A Championship!
  14. He should be the 'surprise' cut of training camp, 'cause if he only signed for two years, what's the point? I mean, what's the bloody point?
  15. What scares me is your post...
  16. This board had a massive hard on for Peach last year, but not sure we need him now. With our depth he'd likely end up on the PR.Yup up to the point of people insulting Walters just because he wouldn't attempt to pluck him off PR.. (Not that anyone here has a clue if we ever tried or attempted a trade..). So I expect a mutiny on university drive if we don't make a call at least., lolYeah, kinda like Peaching to acquire.
  17. There's quite a few people around who'd like to deny Khalif Mitchell exists.
  18. I really don't get this Durant (WR) defence. In the 2015 pre-rankings, there were four leading WR candidates: Demski, Durant, Richards, and Harty, in no particular order. Durant, for whatever reason(s) was picked 4th. That was no accident. There was reasoning for the Bombers to look at Demski, then Richards, then Harty and then Durant. They followed their reasoning, and it seems pretty sound to most of us.
  19. I like Yantz, and he should get an honest-to-goodness real chance to compete at QB. Being a Canadian QB should not hinder your opportunity to compete against, often-times, inferior import QBs. Let him compete on a level, or slightly convex, playing field.
  20. Wait, I thought he was on the hook for a tow-year deal?
  21. And there you have it. Suiting your roster with the best player available. It makes sense to the brain trust, and nobody even asked us.
  22. A very good quote..worth repeating. There is absolutely no reason to worry about "what might have been"...when in fact, we should be thinking "what can be".
  23. Now that the anticipation of draft day is over (and satisfaction never equals anticipation) we have cleared another target date on the way to Training Camp. And that's where the excitement really gets amped up big time. Sunday May 31st is the official start of TC. 17 more sleeps. I'll say Tom Petty knows best when it comes to free-falling.Besides, if you free-fell in the forest, would anybody hear?
  24. Yeah, I gotta agree that with all the pre-work the Bomber staff have done in addressing lineup issues and aligning potential candidates with future openings, that they have considered carefully how their choices will play out. I'm sorry a few are disappointed with the picks. Myself, I'll wait until there is something to be disappointed with.
