Two more players? Wow. How I long for the days of long periods of no player announcements, no FA players, no FA camps and the discussion of who our 5 coaches are going to be. * A T.I.C. submission

Can you imagine the quality of the play in the league if Bettman and his group didn't push the expansion envelope? We'd have guys who get paid a million dollars actually deserve to earn a million dollars. And the games, with a sensible schedule would be awesome. Alas, greedy hockey owners prevail over our game…again.

That just leaves Ringo.

Enormous anxiety and pressure to make the playoffs cannot be allowed to make an error in judgment by making an ill-advised trade. Chevy has to balance the will to win now and the long term winning and not be tempted to trade a key player(s) for the optics of 'doing something'. The entire province wants to make the playoffs. It would be awesome, but... 7 days to be reminded I don't envy him.

It's all part of a new promotion that will have HNIC install cameras all though out the NHL cities as part of their Crotch Canada Tour.

You're right about O'Shea being the ideal Mike. Wouldn't be great if Hurl could be the ideal Sam?

Goaltenders making 6 mill. and are 2nd string worthy. 3rd liners making top tier money. Multi-year contracts handcuffing the next GMs Wouldn't it be nice if these glorified contracts worked both ways? That if your production goes down, your contract goes down? "Show me the money" - for the players. "Show me the production" - for the team.

That particular GM will be a thorn in our team's paw for a long time, for as much as there were good players brought in, and there were, there was a distinct lack of how to construct a roster mentality. I was a supporter of Mack for the longest time but the slow realization that we're slipping down the slope and not climbing up the league standings was disappointing...to say the least. I much prefer the current method of engaging all the tools to build the lineup and I'm anxious to see the results as we go along. Especially the scouting, now that they've had the time to 'get it together'. It's time to admit Mack was a failure and if he didn't get the help of Moll's scouting, the results would have been worse. Flip the page to the next chapter.

Thanks for putting together that OP. It shows we've made progress over past years, but I have to agree with others, we've improved but more so along the lines of a 2b or 2c caliber being upgraded to a 2a or 2b caliber player. I see us trying to stay away from the Brock Ralphs of NI content and I think we've swapped those out of the lineup. You do make a good point about the lack of overall NI players - because of expansion and the increased interest of the NFL. Swiston 1st goes to Montreal I believe..now Calgary. Hinse is let go and Sask. picks him up......interesting. I don't think we absolutely need a stud NI starter...I'd be happy with solid performances from all the starting NIs who would complement our 'stars'. The players we've picked up appear to be upgrades to the middle portion of our lineup. I'm hoping that Hurl, who has looked good in instances last year, will mature into a solid starter for us. BTW, it looks like we've released Carter again, as he's de-listed from the Bomber roster.

We've heard pretty well everything that has been said in this blog but it's good to hear that Wade Miller 'gets it' and is willing to spend money to make the org. more professional and is not just a cog in the wheel of the Bomber good ole boys. But this talk of fluff is kind of ridiculous. This is a good news story that has merit and should be presented to the fans any way it can get out there. I wouldn't expect O'Shea or Walters to pump their own tires, so it should fall to their PR. guy and what the hell is wrong with that? We should be so lucky that we're fully involved in Free Agency when it was necessary, and that they succeeded in the getting the players they targeted. Good grief, I can remember Free Agency coming and going with nary a word of Bomber involvement and Bomber news was such that a PR guy wasn't even necessary. If this is considered fluff, then give me more because that means we're actually doing something and things are progressing out there. Much better than it the dark days when we didn't even know what the H the GM was doing.

No matter the denials from fans in Sask., i bet there is concern over the state of Durant's elbow recovery. It's been reported he won't be throwing at their mini-camps, but they 'expect' him to be ready by June. So, he may share the start in Regina, if only at the start.

I think we owe a vote of gratitude to Brian Brohm for taking us out of the Kevin Glenn sweepstakes, for no matter how you feel about him personally, it would really have sucked to try and get him and lose out to Sask. Too much drama if we had gotten him…too much drama if we would have lost him…way more fun to watch the Rider fans spin their way into oblivion throughout the season with their brand-spanking new QB.

There is that temptation because the Jets are that close to a playoff spot but those damn injuries keep raising concerns and exposing weaknesses. But I agree. Keep the cupboards stocked and resist the temptation to make a foolish trade to go only one-round deep in the playoffs. That Buffalo trade was a once in a lifetime situation, so any trade now would be be minor, comparatively. They will pretty well have to do it with their current lineup.

I would think both parties would consider this time of the year to be a good time to work out an extension for Drew Willy. Each party is in the same position…anxious, and without a real good reason not to sign. The Bombers want to believe that Willy is the guy, so they are anxious. Willy's play has provided some insight as to what we can expect, but they must be a little anxious too, because Willy did show a down side last year. I think they're working towards a deal because, quite simply, this is the best time.

That is a really an odd decision for Kevin Glenn to make. Perhaps he was under some pressure... Bad decision under pressure...nah

It's ironic but this thread has become as irrelevant as the topic of the thread…Kevin Glenn. At first, the topic has merit and does well as there is plenty of back and forth and interesting and relevant points are brought up. The topic moves forward and does well. Then, invariably, it becomes a tired, 2nd rate topic, but hangs in there due to interest from one source or another. There is value in this topic but it fails on many fronts. There is overexposure, miscommunication and evaluations differing by a large extent. Comparable to the laws of diminishing returns. The topic falls into obscurity and rightly so, only to be reborn as the next best thing to happen on a fan forum. Or not. A hot topic, eliciting varying responses, doing little to solve any situation, but there, of some use, in the meantime. But, like always, it's time to send this topic to the sidelines…until needed again…if needed again.

A welcome addition and the potential to be the good feel story of the year.

There is only one Myers more popular and he also has special powers.

Re that TSN article: I haven't seen such loose use of graphs and tables and related non-such in a long time. Just me the good old coaching/scouting and the actual visual aspect of rating a player and keep all that analytical stuff in the drawer…where it belongs.
-
Personally I don't think the impatient route, lined with damned the process, will work any better.

You're right about Walters. He gets it. His vision about building a team from NIs and outward follows conventional CFL championship wisdom, but he simply cannot follow all the correct procedures so far because we've been so far behind. For example. Walters is paying high for Import players for now because we are aiming to win faster. Normally you would pay for our best players and sign cheap Imports. Hopefully, by building our NI resources over time, we won't have to follow that flawed philosophy. Keep your important players and pay them well…Walters seems to be following that. Know your draft and choose carefully…hopefully that works well for us. Use free agency to get started…but don't rely on it. Set up a good scouting system and maintain it….done and done. And, so important…find a good QB and backups and keep that succession line going. Really, we've only just begun.

New Impact Players This Year: Our Scouting System
Mr Dee replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Now that we have a system in place and it's been in force for a year or so now, I would expect better results than just waiting for the phone to ring. There must be network of contacts and good old fashioned scouting to reach players that we haven't looked at before. If you're not out there scouring the land, other teams will beat you to "the guy". Hopefully we don't get beat for "the guy" any more. On that note - tryouts: BEDFORD, TEXAS (DALLAS AREA) When: Saturday, February 28, 2015 HOUSTON, TEXAS When: Sunday, March 1, 2015 BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA When: Saturday, March 7, 2015 TUSCON, ARIZONA When: Sunday, March 8, 2015 KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI When: Saturday, March 21, 2015 FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA When: Sunday, March 22, 2015
