  1. Also interesting was the talk of Brohm and his NFL interest. Of course his hand has to able to throw a football and I wonder how that's going. Walters did mention, briefly, that he had to wait until his hand was healed and it would seem like a likely follow up question to be asked, (how's his hand healing? and will it keep him on the FA list for awhile?), but alas, nobody asked.
  2. The news of this unfortunate (for us) turn of events can be countered with the announcement of the release of Kuale to continue his pursuit of "fitness trainer supreme" in the city.
  3. Understandable. The inference was more about the amount of upfront money…that Banks got.
  4. To summerize: - Signing Picard is seen as the 1st step in re-shaping the "soft" attitude of a soft offensive line. - And here I thought Morley had as good a year as Picard - If Wylie is on board, and considers this an upgrade and will help us overall, then who the hell am I to argue? - Physical and nasty….this I like. - No up front money, I hope…like Korey Banks…fight for a job at training camp, like all the others. - Don't stop now, we need at least one more good offensive line move to carry on.
  5. You're dead?
  6. OK, I'll reciprocate, and not give you updates on the Jet's game…..
  7. What a way to start the game. A double minor called against the wrong Jet, resulting in a ----…and then, a tapping (slashing) call against Little for 2 minutes, which should have been overturned. Pardy blocking some good shot opportunities and Byfuglien continuing his stellar play of late. The Jets broadcast just announced that they will not be giving out any scores from the Junior-Gold Medal game as they realize many people are PVRing the game. Kudos to them and the 1st time I've ever heard that. With that in mind, I'm not revealing the score in this game.
  8. I'm liking √ what he's hearing.
  9. There was no visible reason to overturn that call, therefore I guess they decided there was no audible reason to explain it. Unreal.
  10. Petan leads an impressive list of soon to be Jets playing in this year's Worlds: G Eric Comrie – Canada – 2013 second round pick (59th overall) D Josh Morrissey – Canada – 2013 first round pick (13th overall) D Jan Kostalek – Czech Republic – 2013 fourth round pick (114th overall) F Nic Petan – Canada – 2013 second round pick (43rd overall) F Nikolaj Ehlers – Denmark – 2014 first round pick (9th overall) F Chase de Leo – USA – 2014 fourth round pick (99th overall)
  11. Holmes is where my heart is also.
  12. I've previously remarked that I think there is a disconnect between Maurice and chevy and these comments would support that. Maurice thinks it's easy to find a top 9 guy. And yet chevy hasn't been able to or willing to. You're a better reader than I am if you can decipher that there is a disconnect supported by that statement. You know what I get from that statement? That it is easier to find top 9 forwards than it is to find a player like Byfuglien. That's it. And that is basically correct. There is no hidden message.
  13. Dominant performance by 33 tonight. He was passing and bashing and always wanting the puck. Another strong game for Byfuglien. A +8 game for Buff and Chiarot. (he isn't going anywhere either) I wish he could play football.
  14. I wasn't impressed with his slow snaps and his being bull-rushed back into the QB. Why waste our precious teaching time with him now, for what amounts to a temp. hire?
  15. ... Graig's evil twin...? Knew I was coinc to do that one of these days….."NEWMAN"….
  16. I believe Nick Moore will have a bounce back year, and that Graig Newman will play like his name, Drew Willy will have an up and down year, Watson will full-fill his half year contract, Vega will step up, January will start the year off right, Ryan Lucas is a ??? and let's hope Bryant and Kuale are shadows (walking out the door shadows), they already are shadows, of their former selves.
  17. But doesn't BOGO get you an extra player?
  18. No longer known as Dominant Picard, I would agree with the good Dr. ^ and say money would be better spent elsewhere.
  19. Why can't we just give credit where credit is due? Walters is spending the 2014 wisely, not just spending willy-nilly. He and O'Shea must have gone over the roster very carefully and determined who was to extended or re-signed. Seeing as the Wild bunch (Wild, Sears and Washington) were determined to test the NFL waters, they must have gone down the list and parcelled out what they could and to whom they could. Not a bad idea, by any means, as it keeps some important NIs and players 'paid forward' and their locked up contracts in our control for for the next couple of years. Then, we can do the same thing again next off-season, if possible, and just keep this rotation going, in blocks, for years to come. As to who has signed whom, I find the Bombers have extended more contracts than other teams, but Montreal, having just re-signed 4 potential FAs, have now got 7 of their 18 FA guys re-signed. And these guys are clutch guys. Lavarius, Paxson, Venable and Woods. They join Deslauriers, Boulay and Sutton. Impressive.
  20. ……………Holmes would make it right.
  21. Cheap, schmeap. O'Shea had no need to muddy Walters with unnecessary talk about competing for Benevides' attention. He already had it. Team fit, that's what O'Shea was looking at, and it looks like they felt Hall's interview convinced them that Hall was a better team fit. Hallelujah.
  22. Yes, he re-signed early Dec. as it was a priority for Popp. Just giving a range that Montreal was looking at to re-sign him. 200K for Green and looking towards 180K?or more, for Cox.
  23. This is related to story by Herb Zurkowsky in late Nov. where he states: Green, 29, is eligible to become a free-agent in February and, for the first time since he arrived in Montreal, there’s a distinct and palpable feeling the 6-foot-3, 220 pounder could be playing elsewhere in 2015 — despite his assertion he wants to return. According to a league source, many veterans want out of the organization, claiming the situation has simply become too dysfunctional. - http://montrealgazette.com/sports/football/cfl/montreal-alouettes/s-j-green-takes-a-look-at-free-agency That would mean Montreal would miss two of their best receivers as Duron Carter will be in the NFL next year. Hard to feel sorry for them though. Hey, all is not lost though, they still can turn to 37 yr. old Chad Johnson... And: Similarly, Popp might be challenged getting strong-side linebacker Chip Cox’s signature on a new contract before he becomes a free agent. Cox believes he’s the league’s best defensive player and wants to be paid accordingly, according to a source. It’s believed Saskatchewan rush-end John Chick, who earns about $200,000 annually, holds that honour.
  24. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Hall are in contract negotiations and if things continue to positively move forward, Hall could be named defensive coordinator as early as next week. - Gary Lawless - Winnipeg Free Press Bringing in a new DC ala Richie Hall brings excitement and new ideas and an openness to the rest of the league that will invite more acceptance for Free Agents to consider coming to the 'Peg. And on that theme, can we expect a little sugar sweetness with some of the pending Rider FAs who may have followed Hall's thinking?
