He says it's nice to sit face to face with some of the agents in Vancouver in doing this. - And to spend time just talking football with MOS - MOS was asked if player evaluation is finished and the Coach said it is not. He explains that they are not taking it lightly and since it's first time…he wants to get it right. It's a process but he does want it finished sooner than later. - Both Walters and O'Shea would like to see the PI reviews abolished next year and just let the refs…ref. Put those resources into better training. - Buono says that unless you walk in a HC's shoes…you don't know what it's all about (in reference to Garcia saying he could be a HC right away) 1st year HC MOS agrees. Even Walters piped in, it's similar in GMing for the 1st time. Both say it's a daily learning process. - Walters says he is learning something every day and his project is to sit with scouting, the operations dept., and with MOS and evaluate everything they have done this year - what they did well, not so well, and what they can improve on…kind of like a working document to follow. - The GM's top priority is FA and the draft and they are fully immersed in the names and salary numbers and the projected salary cap and matching all these projections with the current roster, pending FAs and the next draft. - MOS believes they need more toughness next year, in the players, in their practices and in their football IQ. - Asked about Jordan Yantz, Walters said Yantz IS in his draft year and someone may take him for his abilities…"he's looked like a CFL QB this year". - They have a strong working relationship with the Bisons and Rifles. - Walters says it's not hard to pick Calgary to win and Mike says he wants to see the game decided on the last play to entertain the fans. University of Manitoba Bisons quarterback Jordan Yantz will take part in Bombers rookie and main camp as part of the annual initiative to give Canadian pivots more experience at the pro level. Anti-trade people? These story clips that I laid out there are the stories that are out there at this time. They are reporting the trend in the NHL at this snapshot moment. You could spend time analyzing the lower tier of teams, the middle tier, and the upper layer, but it is a very complicated process based on a lot more than "we should trade so-and-so. The salary cap era has made trades now, and for the future, a lot more of a factor than in the past. Everybody loves a good trade, it's just that teams are not all in the position to make these trades..at this time.

As well, former all-star and Pro Bowl quarterback Jeff Garcia indicated his interest in the vacancy left by the firing of Mike Benevides after the Montreal Alouettes’ season came to a close in the East Division final Sunday. LaPolice, who coached the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for parts of three seasons before taking the broadcast job but had far fewer wins (16) than Benevides (33), is considered among the front-runners on the basis of his work as offensive co-ordinator with Winnipeg and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Garcia joined the coaching ranks only this season with Montreal, but made it clear to the Winnipeg Free Press that he would like a role beyond that of a quarterbacks coach. “I want to be a head coach and I don’t necessarily think I need to be a co-ordinator first,” said Garcia, who got his break in pro football in 1994 when he succeeded Doug Flutie at quarterback for Buono’s Calgary Stampeders. “I understand offence and I’m a leader. I tried to find out if Etch had anything to say so... I searched high and low to see if Etch had a twitter account But I couldn't locate one. I thought that he'd have an account with small, fast tweets, located where you would least expect them, but when I punched in his name in the search engine, it would just run…and run…and run...

It's better than - oh, we lost last night what should we do? Why don't we trade somebody? How about Buff? Pavs? Maurice? Anybody…we have to do something…Damm the torpedoes…straight ahead. Might as well take GM out of our alphabet, we don't have one anyways!!!

The Jets are not alone in being in the middle range of hockey teams. They will fight to stay close to being a playoff team, in a tough division…in a tough conference. Complaining about the Jets not doing anything will only upset those who are maybe expecting too much from this team. We're going to have to be satisfied with the upside of this team and enjoy the new young players coming along. A simple trade here and there might, and I say might, get a team closer to the playoffs, if the right deal can be worked out But all teams want the right deal, don't they? The Jets are not going join the elite strata this year, but piece by piece, they can get closer. Face it. It will take time.

Well, there's one good result of this game…we won't have to hear how great that Crompton guy is compared to our 'slug'...

Agreed. I was not impressed with Demski. Bombers might be able to get him with the 2nd rounder. That one play where he avoided making a catch on second and ten because he didn't want to get hit was just awful. Initially, that's what I thought, but….upon further review, he's getting a bad rap on that play. Yantz did throw the ball for the cut early, but Demski had to locate it. You can see the progression of throw - locating the ball, and the miss/duck in pretty quick succession. Verdict - not guilty, IMO.

I'd like to see a team show some leadership and give Yantz a chance. Forget about his citizenship, the guy can play. With some development I could see him having success in the CFL. And I'd like it to be our team. I mean the guy can catch too. There is no way in sloppy hell that Yantz couldn't play any worse than a few of the QBs we've played in the recent past.

We have to get this guy Yantz on our team in some capacity. The ghost of Danny Maciocia's past visits the poor Bisons. What a game.
