  1. I think Walters has improved a lot of the mid-caliber NIs from previous rosters and is working on the top end caliber players. Each top end NI that we can sign automatically drops the bottom end NI from out roster. It's been too long that we've had middling quality NI players dressed up in the starters unis and it's time for that to change. It takes time. As to our current potential FA NIs, sign every NI unless there will be an upgrade at that roster spot. A Gord Hinse over a Chris Kowalzcuk for example. Bucknor over Cauchy Muamba. That sort of thing. There are certain NIs currently on the roster that should be replaced, but….with whom? and therein lies the dilemma.
  2. "Heh heh heh, I'm not going to come out and say who called it…but he's right here, right now and in the know….(PS, Willy couldn't have played like that) This is my prediction for a future post if his Grey Cup prediction comes true.
  3. ???? Say what? If I'm not mistaken, in those 53 minutes, the Bombers were in a position to score but failed on three different occasions (2 missed field goals and a missed convert). Yes, one convert but only one FG. Hajrullahu kicked 4 of 5 FGs and unofficially, I believe, set a new Bomber and CFL rookie percentage record. Will wait for the official word on the actual percentages from the CFL news centre. Congratulations mr. rookie kicker. Yeah, fantastic season for him. But he DID technically miss two field goals. Blocked field goals now count as misses. Yeah, the rule that came in after it made Paredes famous for setting a record for a FG streak, even though one was blocked. This year, all I can find is that Lirim has officially set a rookie Bomber record and apparently has tied the CFL rookie record of 40/46 and the percentage of 86.96% Now before the BC game Lirim was 33 made out of 37 attempts. In BC he went 3 for 4 and in Calgary…he is credited with 4 of 5 in the FG department…giving him that elusive number of 40/46 FGs. That is where I get those numbers and why I stated will await 'til it is official, but it looks like he is credited with 40/46 as of now. Kinda weird, but no mention of blocked attempts.

  5. Portis was in complete command of masterful restraint. Exactly, and he handled that parka well…with no problems. Besides, that's all I could mention of him as there was no way he was getting in that game.
  6. Blue Game notes: - Speaking of Sears..how many fumble recoveries did he have? 2 for sure, maybe 3. Another strong performance. - Bombers win the turnover battle for the 1st time in 9 games, and we win….hmm, coincidence? - Rare Bomber and Jet win on the same day. - Chris Randle@ChrisRandle_Ad Retweeted by Wpg Blue BombersI Love My Team. #BelieveInBlue - Bombers, only 6 penalties, of which 2 were…questionable. ( The pass interference, negating an interception, and the Interference call on Washington negating a big sack) - Ian Wild punctuates his stellar play this year with a season ending pounding hit…and it was clean (for the naysayers) - Matthias Goossen ‏@MatthiasjGoose 3h3 hours ago First cfl season officially in the books. Even though the end result was not what we wanted, there is no team I would rather battle with!!! -Matthias Goossen ‏@MatthiasjGoose 3h3 hours ago Also, there are no other fans that I would rather play for. I have loved playing in IGF and in front of the bomber faithful on road games. - That was some smile on MOS after the game ending hit…appreciation. - Harlan, Hickman, good debuts. Good game by the bookend Booker. - More proof that the Kuale card doesn't have to be played…anymore. - Goosen was involved, Greaves has to get more involved. Daniels will be back. - Was mildly impressed with the way Portis handled himself, under those conditions…on the sideline. - Two plays stick out….Watson's excellent block on STs and Marve's scramble and toss to Denmark for 40 yards…yeah baby!
  7. After witnessing what our last "sheriff" did, I would welcome a new Marshall in town.
  8. Let me re-state the stats. In the last 8 games the Bombers lost the turnover battle. We were on an 8 game losing streak. In this last game we won the turnover battle, despite any sexy rushing stats. I'd say, basically, there is a greater chance to lose the game when you lose the turnover battle, than if you allow more rushing yards. (and I'm not discounting our bad run defence)
  9. The fact remains that all stats can be looked at as deceptive. It's like Grigsby leading the CFL in rushing yards at one point, even though he had an average of -0.2 or whatever. He simply had more attempts than anyone else. Stats are not the driving force behind team's attacks…they are the results of choices teams make in their offensive philosophy. Each one has to be looked at individually, and for our team, Willy's passing yardage is remarkable for a 1st year QB. and that's all that's being said.
  10. You do realize that this statement also supports Willy's stats as a passing QB. It's easy to argue that because we did lack a running game, it became harder and harder to keep up a good passing game, and I think, as the year went on, that was proven.
  11. Why must anything good have to end with a but..?
  12. There's another team after the Bombers?
  13. Savour the Moment
  14. It was a question. Nothing more. It's not strategy or an Earth shattering question. There are readers that want answers. MOS chose to handle it the way he did. Iso, you have this driving concern about MOS and how he deals with the media. There is no concern. I don't see any chip on his shoulder in how he deals with the media. They ask, he answers. Sometimes they don't like the answers…so they write their articles. I'm not worried at all how MOS deals with the media. I'm more concerned on how he deals with the team. It's not O'Shea's fault they can't ask the questions in a manner that will get them answers. You can listen to Bob Irving and see how he asks touchy questions, and yet MOS answers them, without grizzling. Don't judge O'Shea on how he answers questions, but on he answers problems with the team.
  15. Yeah, and that's here in Kelowna. I'm going to be very careful going out this weekend, like avoiding public places, call it a black out if you will.
  16. MOS, in this situation, is right. Why are you asking questions like that, in the week before the last game, when there are months ahead to subject the Staff to those kind of questions? And people blame MOS for being short with some reporters. They're lucky he doesn't pick them up and drive them back 5 yards and slam them to the ground…like he used to do with the opposition.
  17. No, I don't mind the special mentions of personalities that have touched fans across the Country. Even a couple minutes of attention, but what I really don't like is the in-game interviews during the broadcast of the games. Say hello, say what you have to say…then please get back to the game. Nothing worse than talking about somebody's dog or outfit when there is a play going on that I'm interested in. Build it into the pre-game or half time show and show me the bloody game.
  18. We're going to smother them with our sheer underwhelmingness, but seriously, aside from Noeller's comfort, I would like to see: 1) Willy's return from the border lands of unconsciousness , caused by memory demons of past hits. I'd like to see him focused…with a proper game plan for a change. 2) Speaking of game planning, can we please protect Willy with movement, screens, play action, and a variety of passes that don't take 2 minutes to run. 3) The challenge that our D will face today at least be partially answered by a combination of good play from our new guys backed by the veterans, who looked somewhat better last week. 4) Lirim to kick enough FGs to solidify his hold on the record for rookie percentages. Don't forget, his regular hold, Brohm, has a broken thumb, and will be out. 5) And if Calgary makes adjustments to what we do, either on O or D, I'd like to see us match them. 6) A continuation of discipline in the penalty dept. In the poll on CFL news the poll on whether Marve can challenge Willy for the #1 spot, the "no's" are ahead @ 55%. Thanks to *Stats Junkie: The Bombers have won both of their tightest games in 2014 going 2-0 when decided by 4 points or less. For games decided by 5-10 points this year, they are 2-6 and 4-11 over the last two seasons. Ian Wild was #3 in the CFL in tackles last week piling up 9 vs BC in the 28-23 loss. He has led the entire CFL in two separate weeks and tops the club with 70 to date. On a per game basis, he has averaged 5.4 per game which puts him at #3 in the CFL for 2014. Here is how the CFL leaders stack up per game: 1) S.Elimimian, BC 7.8 2) B.Woods 7.0 3) I.Wild, Wpg 5.4 4) B.J.Simmons, Ott 5.1 5) B.Smith, Cgy 4.9 With a start this week, Willy can make it 17 this year including the 5-1 season-opening run. No Winnipeg QB has started 17 games in one season since Kevin Glenn started all 18 games in 2007. Cotton comes into this game riding a streak of two straight 100-yard games. He led the entire CFL last week with 131 rushing yards is now one of only two players with back-to-back 100-yard games in 2014. The Last Blue Bomber to record back-to-back 100-yard games was Fred Reid in 2010. The Bombers have now gone 8 games in a row without winning the turnover battle and are -11 in that stretch.
  19. Through half this PVR'd game, I like the tempo that Ottawa is showing. Good running against the top run defence in the league and nice scheming against that D. Nice to see young O'Brien get some reps and move the ball nicely. Really glad we kept Hajrullahu over Maher. At this point, Hamilton is relying on special teams and turnovers to stay in this game. 3 sacks for Ottawa... Grigsby 0 for 1 on receptions. 2nd half - Ham. coming out of the gate strong. FG 4 sacks Ottawa Jeremiah Johnson running well….and gets a TD 22-17 Ott. Tip interception for a TD for Ham. 24-22 Ham…..more points off Ott. turnovers. And finally a Ham/ turnover. Miles terrible drop…then a very good catch. Exchange of FGs - 27-25 Ham. ANOTHER pick 6 - wow, they remind me of…well never mind. 34-25 Ham…..21 points off turnovers. Fingertip miss TD pass to Matt Carter, oh the pain. Burris has the over-throwsies tonight. Nobody blocks Ted Laurent? okie-dokie And…it's over. I'm not sure the team that played better won tonight. I'll tell you one thing, both teams' OCs called good games and make our play calling of late seem amateurish.
  20. - Hamilton - no Gable, no Fantuz - Luke Tasker has 16 catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns in his last three games. - The Ticats continue to lead the league in all four run stopping categories. - Zach Collaros has thrown for 300 yards or more in the majority of his starts, but the REDBLACKS have allowed only three 100-yard passers in 16 games this season (Kevin Glenn, Drew Willy, and Dan LeFevour). - In 2014, when a team does NOT give up a sack the touchdown percentage is 14.4%, or one in every 6.9 drives. That success rate drops to just one touchdown in every 27 drives (3.7%) when a club allows one or more sacks in any possession (only 14 touchdowns in the 378 drives where at least one sack has been allowed). *CFL NEWS - Ottawa News- http://ottawacitizen.com/sports/football/cfl/cfl-confirms-fumble-call-should-have-been-upheld - The Canadian Football League has admitted a video-replay official shouldn’t have overturned a call that would have given the Ottawa Redblacks possession of the football in the Montreal Alouettes’ end of the field in the fourth quarter of Friday’s game at TD Place stadium. “After reviewing the play, we believe that there wasn’t enough indisputable evidence to overturn the call on the field of a fumble,” a league spokesman wrote in an email. How much of QB Danny O'Brien will we see? How Long will Collaros stay in the game? Will we see a copious amount of spittle from Coach Austin or does this nothing game tone him down? Unofficially, 2 of 3 fans are picking the Ti-Cats to win. Mike O'Shea says he'll have to see the game film before he chooses a winner. Paul Wiecek says no one form Ottawa will answer any questions of his until after the season ends, so he'll just write answers anyways. Go RedBlacks!
  21. Interesting that you removed the entire part of my post that talked about how I see the Winnipeg media. If you bothered to read any of it, you wouldn't say I was aligning with the writers. The writers aren't 'getting away' with anything. They are doing what they will always do... writing stuff that folks will talk about. I asked you 2 questions. You responded by saying one was accurate, but you didn't explain how it could be. If you agree with an inaccurate heading, to me, that means you're aligning with the writer. The rest of it is pablum, and I didn't ask about it, therefore I didn't include it. You didn't answer the second part.
  22. So, tell us what you think of the heading Wiecek used. Is it accurate? Even the heading on this thread. Is it accurate? As far as what O'Shea says to the media, the heading is accurate. No, it isn't accurate any way you try to spin it. Neither is the heading for this thread. But the more people ignore the little subtleties of putting out inaccurate info., the more these kind of writers can get away with this stuff. Why you prefer to align with these writers is beyond me.
  23. So, tell us what you think of the heading Wiecek used. Is it accurate? Even the heading on this thread. Is it accurate?
