Odds and Sods - Winnipeg Expansion Team vs Ottawa RedBlacks
Mr Dee replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
This play I didn't like. ^ Too early. Not enough offensive momentum built up. I didn't mind the call on third and five. At the very least it shows forward thinking and the analysis of that situation..and I like the aggressiveness, could have been a positive factor in the game. Totally unBurke-like. -

Goalie, farceurs get to come out every once and a while and secrete their glowing ooze of I told you sos. There is some deep down medical term for this incessant need to kick a team when its down…(something about making one feel better about themselves), but I don't know any of that psychological babble…just the regular kind. If it isn't enough we have to feel bad about getting booted, we have to sit patiently and wait out these farceurs, who despite knowing it all, can't seem to understand, that we don't care how much they pretend to know. -
There's the "how to" and the "how not to" . Can you guess where the Bombers slot in?

That was easily the worst game of the year for us and probably the best game of the year for Ottawa. Kudos to them. They had a nice game plan with their O-Line attacking our outside contains, and freed up Williams for some nice runs. We really crapped the bed and our play couldn't keep up with a fired up Ottawa team. Here's something different….Special Teams were our best asset. But to me, that doesn't affect how we play the rest of the year. We have to win for ourselves, to prove to ourselves, that we can. Let's not be talking playoffs at this time.

Some yards to chew up: *courtesy of Stats Junkie Winnipeg leads the CFL in 2014 having led after the 1st Quarter the most times. They have led after 15:00 eight times thus far and have a 5-3 record in those games. - Nic Grigsby 51 catches: He leads all CFL running backs with 51 receptions having passed BC's Andrew Harris (46). - 3000 yards passing: Last week, Drew Willy became the 14th Winnipeg QB all-time to reach 3,000 in one season, and the last since Buck Pierce in 2011. He leads the CFL in passing at 3,280 yards and is on pace for 4,542 which would rank #8 all-time among Winnipeg passers (Khari Jones is #7 at 4,545 in 2001). - With & Without Nick Moore: Nick Moore has played in just 2 of the last 7 games and the Bombers record shows they have missed his presence. In 2014, they are 5-2 when he starts, and just 1-5 when he is out of the lineup. - Penalties: The Bombers committed season-high (tied) 15 penalties of which 7 were holding calls (4 Offence, 3 Returns). On the season, Winnipeg has the most holding/illegal block calls with 40 but also have the fewest roughing the passer calls with just 3. They also have by far the fewest defensive penalties in the CFL with just 32. - Clarence Denmark: Is one of just 3 CFL receivers on pace for 1,000 yards in 2014 with 750 through 13 games. He is tied for the CFL lead with 7 catches for 30+ yards and #6 with 18 second down conversion catches. - Aaron Kelly: Since being blanked in two straight games, Kelly has caught 19 passes for 210 yards in his last 3 games. It is the most passes he has ever caught in a 3-game span. - 2014 Roster: Winnipeg has had 71 players on their Active Roster/Injured List this season through 13 games. That is already the third-highest total in club history and within 6 of the record 77 players that were on the club's 2013 roster. -

Me and my arch-enemy 'The Turnover' heartily disagree with you. Chicken or the egg. After the blocked punt in the Hamilton game, they started at our 30, handed the ball off twice and were in the end zone. Difference between a TD and a FG and a win and a loss for us. Ah, but your eggs are left unboiled, as the basis for your argument lies in the fact that we turned the ball over, leading to one mistake and the only TD Hamilton scored in the game. -

I'm more concerned if the Ref has his head in the game. -

Speaking of 1st quarters, Stats Junkie (Blue Bomber site) reports that : Winnipeg has not allowed many 1st Quarter points in recent weeks. They have allowed a total of only 10 First Quarter points in the last 9 games. In fact, the last 10 Winnipeg games have had no more than 8 combined points scored in the first 15:00. That alone shows a tremendous improvement as we are always in the game, when the game actually counts…during the game, not just before the 1st kickoff. -
And that's pretty well why you want to choose…carefully... who you let speak in front of a microphone.

Collaros - Burris - Willy - Who was the real first choice? - round 87.
-
Well his name is not BriceInsideInformation you realize.

I can't see them designing a defence and acquiring players for a certain scheme and then after one year, run it out of town. They will keep both the OC and the DC and dump Imagine Dragons way before those guys. -
There is nothing wrong with keeping Watson. He's avery good receiver, never mind NI receiver. And, although I'd prefer a healthy Watson, there is nothing wrong when you play a back up like JFG, and he gives us a solid consistent performance. That's a good thing. That's a little depth at least. For us, each piece we replace has to be better or at least equal to, the piece we are replacing.

Kenny Ploen likely to return this season

…..The funny bone…….. …….It's quite a phenomenon, but most Saskatchewanites are missing it. Also worth noting is, the tendon that was torn in Durant's arm, I believe, is the tendon that leads to the humerus bone. Now isn't that ironic? -
No Wild, No Kromah... only Kuale as MLB and if he goes down, Briggs will be thrown to the wolves. Looks like we are inviting the RedBlacks to run. I'm not sure I'm gonna like our D this game but here's hoping our O click tonight so the D wont spend much time in the field. I have the distinct feeling our D won't be spending time on the field tonight.

We really need someone situated in Winnipeg to quit work and report more on these practices…or go on injury report. Be creative.
-
This thread will be around 'til Durant is playing again…which should be any day now. It's sort of like the law of diminishing returns…in reverse and without the economics aspect and without logic to bother with.
-
Yes, a roll of duct tape would share the team lead for receiving touchdowns... (place all the eye rolls here) ………..Eye rolls aren't enough, we need a dislike button.
-
Sherman has shown that he has improved his tackling over the last 4-5 games…I've not noticed whether Bucknor has improved or not. The fact is that, even with these so called, below average NIs in the lineup, the defence overall has not suffered, whether due to schemes or the play of surrounding players.
-
Listen, any receiver who can get this team positive yards, around the ten yard mark, consistently, should be in the lineup. I don't care how he got them.

Stoudemire placed on the 6 game...season over

I refuse to believe it until I see the Regina doctors report. Should be ready for the bye week at least. -
Forgive me my slight detour but the wording of some on here inspired me to present Gene Wilder as Philippe and Donald Sutherland as Pierre in -Start the Revolution Without Me (1970) Duke d'Escargot: What brings you to Paris? Philippe: Oh, you might say a little business… Pierre:...and a little pleasure. Duke d'Escargot: Which do you prefer? Business, or pleasure? Pierre: Well that depends on what you regard as business. Philippe: And, what you may regard as pleasure! Duke d'Escargot: In Paris we say, business is pleasure. Pierre: And to us, pleasure is our business. Duke d'Escargot: Then your business should be a pleasure, making my pleasure a business. Philippe: Unless, some mistake business for pleasure. While others know no business but pleasure. Duke d'Escargot: In that case sir I will show you my business. Philippe: My pleasure.

OK - Durant's done but... Word out of Vancouver today says Lulay is not going to have surgery and says he has talked to team doctors and is "rehabbing" And get ready for the "re-wording"- as Buono says Lulay might be throwing and return to action in the coming weeks. Of course, that leads to the bigger question as to ….WHY? Is he that important in the state he will be in to do anything? Doubters man, doubters.
