2 Games ;2 Losses; 0 Holding Calls on Riders
Mr Dee replied to sportmentary2012's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
And people wonder why Winnipeg doesn't develop any Quarterbacks? Not everyone is Ricky Ray. So Willy is 28, has thrown for 2889 yards, 12 TD and 11 INT according to cfl.ca The first time Anthony Calvillo threw for 2889+ yards was in 2000 (and Willy is there with 7 games left) he also had 27 TD and 5 INT, that was his breakout year in those categories. He was 28 The difference between 28 year old calvillo and 28 year old Willy is prior to 28 Calvillo had 1697 pass attempts, 14,279 yards and 76 TD and 76 INT Willy prior to to this year had 147 pass attempts, 1182 yards 9TD and 5 INT's So give him time, it takes time playing to develop. Calvillo had 6 seasons under his belt before he broke out, you're freaking out when willy has half a season where he's actually playing. Nice informative stats. The problem is you aren't having a conversation with the poster. He essentially just walks into threads, takes a dump on the floor and walks away. Information is wasted on him. So true. What I see is that we have one guy who says he is 14 yrs. old and posts older, and this poster who probably is older…but posts like he's 14 yrs. old. -
Personally, I don't recall it, but I will say O'Shea did say…wait for it…he'll have to see the tape, which is fair. He did throw in that he suspects the guy went down a little easy, (my words) if you know what I mean.

I thought you said they only needed one TD on offence to win the game.

Which part of our run defence distresses you the most? The fact that they gave up 196 yards ? or that it led to one TD being scored on the defence? The reason teams run the ball is to kill the clock, SASK won all 3 games vs us mainly because we couldn't stop the run regardless of what O'Shea says... Yes other factors contributed ( blocked FG for a TD ) but running kills the clock and gives the other team less time to score points. No, you're wrong. We did not lose all three games because we couldn't stop the run. Did you not watch any of the games and are simply going on the message that the run defence is not good? I saw lots of yards being gained on us in three games, that much is true. I also saw 5 turnovers in one game to none for Sask. Do you not think that had a bigger bearing on that loss? How about today's game? we did stop the run in the 4th quarter - twice, but we failed to execute to win the game. If we had scored, do you honestly think Sask. runs the ball? If Sask. does not get the benefit of ST mistakes (16 points) and is actually down in the game, do they stick to running the ball and killing the clock when it netted them 14 points total?

Really, there is no reason whatsoever to be aiming your headlights on Willy. Your angst is dearly misplaced. 1st year starter and you cannot see the issues with playing at this level. That's on you. -

Of course you realize that while the teams were racking up 800 yards of rushing during the last five games we were unable to get the ball and score ourselves right? They might not have scored but using 6 minutes and more on drives meant we lost a huge amount of time. You have to look at the consequences. We all know that running takes up time…for both teams. You can run the field and take up 6-7 minutes and score aTD. The the other team can pass the ball in 3-4 minutes and score a TD. I assume you saw the game. 196 yards running vs. 360 yards passing. Good stats for either team, I would say. All Sask need on was 16 points on STs Can they rely on that next week too? -
Deep end…meet another candidate.

Super ironic, isn't it? Part of what I meant by the football gods not smiling on us...

but only one TD drive given up. D and O weren't the reasons this game was a loss, it's all on the special teams gaffes and the penalties. This is how Stamps fans are talking about their defense giving up big plays to Edmonton last night. Hey, we gave up some big plays. But so what we still won. What's Calgary best known for? The Big Choke in the playoffs. I think we'll see them give up too many big plays on defense in the Western Final & lose again. MOS can't be happy with 200 yds rushing on the ground. If he is, well he's living in a dream world. Is Chamblin thrilled with giving up 360 yards passing? -
It's unanimous, it's almost a given Kuale is gone.

I don't want to hear another damn thing about the run defence losing games. Just didn't happen. -
It's another heartbreaking loss. Too many penalties. Too many gaffes on special teams. Big mistake by Willy at the end, but he knows... BUT... The fight back from this team is awesome. The offence was moving the ball well. Lots of good plays, lots of good catches. Leading receiver…just back from a disappearance (according to some) Aaron Kelly 7-96 and a couple of really nice grabs. Nic Grigsby…very good game 8 for 66 yds and 32 yards more receiving. Good production. And I must note…Grigsby pass protection pick up was solid today. O'Shea didn't like the lack of discipline, won't completely comment until he sees the film, but, the crew (Irving and Brown) figures if the players involved don't change, then the change will be of players. that's kinda how pissed O'Shea is. I'm kinda hoping he's talking about Kuale. Suck ass game to lose but man is this team exciting in every aspect. Saskatchewan has damn good lines on either side of the ball, but damn, we had them beat again… Damn the special teams gods...

Tell me. Did the run give up 16 points? -
Should we take up a collection to bail Dirty30 out?
-
Joey Elliott would have won that game against the Lions.
-
I think the topic of being scared is more valid for some posters than it is for the Bombers. The Bombers may respect the Roughriders, but they fear no one.
-
This is exactly the Edmonton Offence and the difference that Reilly makes to make plays out of a string of words.
-
I dont know first hand but imagine the hooker situation is better in Montreal than what we are going to round up here Now we know more about those tight Royal blue pants you were mentioning.
-
And beat the crap out of each other. (in a nice way, of course) 1st Calgary can Mace Nichols, then sandwich him with Mayo and Lemon. Next QB, please step up.

In the same place as the detractors were when he played well.

Deep concerns should be limited to nuclear weapons, our existance and wells.

What the hell did I watch last night on FNF. Was that not one of the worst games you've seen in a long time? Lulay played rusty, but he had an excuse. Burris played awful but he has no excuse. Well maybe a couple..horrendous pass catching by that team and if Hayes is in that lineup for very much longer than it takes to get a RB, any RB, i'll be surprised. BTW, where was Desjardins when Ford became available? Messam? Ottawa was 12- 16 yds rushing Ottawa's Offence did everything in their power to sabotage any chance of winning a football game that was, literally, there for the taking. Where maybe the highlight of the night was one of our posters going 18/20 in posts before fading for the night. Even the weather gods conspired against Ottawa. Crazy baseball, interruption talk. Gable's injury. Yell's injury. Lulay's injury. One thing though, Ottawa's defence played really well and deserved help. Any kind of help. Teams can be a little lucky with winning sometimes, but you'll never see an easier win for a team that didn't come close to scoring a TD, like BC did last night. What a pile of dung.

……………………OK, I get it!
