If we have to play football and win the old fashioned way..by beating the teams we have to..then a playoff position will feel all that much better.

Disagree heartily with any reduction of the ratio in OUR game. But how else can you fix the problems the league is having scoring on offense? The OL blocking stinks with 7 of the 9 teams in the CFL. There aren't enough quality Canadian offensive linemen playing in the CIS & NCAA to stock 9 teams. There are 45 starting spots with 9 teams. College teams can't stock teams. It may not be something we want to hear but it is a fact of life. The only way is to reduce starting Canadians to 5. I don't like it either but it is what it is. We're going through a period in the league right now where one team is breaking with tradition in using players at positions not normally used for NIs, and using them at the same time, and it has lessened the absolute need to do something, anything to get a player for the usual positions. (O-Linemen) If you're short at one position (OL), how about looking at other areas where NIs can be used?

The point isn't signing Burris for all that money..it's what they could have done with the extra money and FAs. Name recognition? Nick Moore, Koch, Laurent? or any one of the other FAs that they would have had with the extra cash. They still wouldn't have done much more, but they could have had a more complete team.

Ratio needs to be dropped from 7 Canadian starters to 5 so 2 Internationals can start on the OL & it has no repercussions like a domino effect everywhere else. Disagree heartily with any reduction of the ratio in OUR game.

Isn't is funny how good OCs look with experience throughout that particular team's lineup?

Seems like somebody agrees with you.

Just in case you're discouraged by the last two games ...

I don't think the Argos are going to roll over to the Lions. Yes, it's a short week and a long trip for them but having had the recent bye week I don't think they'll be as tired as the Bombers were. Why would Braley want the Argos to be a "free spot" for the Lions? I agree. R. Ray, having just whetted his appetite for offensive prowess, is not going to sit back and submit a second rate effort, if he can help it. BC will have to take the game from them. All of us here, are hoping they can't. Braley has nothing to do with this. -
When the Team is functioning in all capacities and the offence is scoring, seemingly at will, nothing could be finer in the state of Carolina, but when a frailty shows it's ugly head (think running back) and our offence bogs down, the first person we look to is the OC. There are breakdowns on offence due to many factors and a rookie QB is showing some inexperience…and we are surprised? No, JBR is right, we have had a fine run scoring TDs and putting points on the board, all in the name of getting experience…valuable experience, and getting some wins along the way. Marcel and Drew seem to be working well together and our most valuable asset (Willy) is progressing. We should not be totally satisfied..yet, but complaining? How soon we forget where we just were.

Mr Dee, we all saw it last year under Tim Burke. What we saw last year was a kind of hopelessness and malaise stemming from the knowledge that you're being led into a battle that you cannot win. Good coaches (leaders) don't let that happen. They can still invoke that will to win, and every athlete that plays sports has it, or should. Last year was something I never want to see again, but I still believe winners never stop trying to win.
-
I don't know what the reporter heard or what was repeated or "word to that effect" but I'll never believe a team "stops trying to win". They may be 'defeated' or dog tired from playing on a few days rest and in tropical Rogers Stadium. The words - "the Bombers had quit" does not fit into what I see from this Bomber squad. I can definitely see there was a letdown after a few things went wrong, but I do see that in all sports when two teams are battling until a turning point and one team takes over. The Bombers were beaten by a lack of blocking, running and fresh legs on defence, but they weren't beaten by a lack of effort.

Give credit where credit is due, Ray and the Argos played well. Yes, we have to give credit where credit is due. Toronto was well prepared and totally ready for us. Not to be unexpected. Our game wasn't as bad as some are saying and we were totally in it until the call back of Bryant's TD on a touch call on Howard. After that …downhill. Don't think we would have won that game as Toronto still had legs and we were done at the end of the third quarter. Too much to ask for such a team as ours. As to the lack of effort RG stated. Total bullfrog. The effort and will was there, but even though the spirit was willing….the legs couldn't hold on.

Really, this short work week should be looked on more as an extended half time…with more rest, and now we'll come out ready for the next part of the game…prepared to make amends of your mistakes. I think Willy is thinking this way.

Like Grigby's running attempts, this complaining about Grigsby's running…is going nowhere. That alone, is a good reason to switch RBs.

Most original comedian since Jonathan Winters. This is just beyond most of us. -
I'm looking at it as, if we have to play on a short work week, I'd want it to be an Eastern team... In order..Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and then Hamilton. And Toronto only there because of RRay. With their top offensive weapons out, this equalizes the odds quite nicely and there is probably no other team I'd want Willy to face after a shaky game last week. As to our running game…who better to get some practice in against?
-
Since I've been eliminated, I'm going to pick Cotton, both as an incentive for the Bombers to score and a slap in the face to myself when he does.
-
Here's the issues I have with the running game: They're still predictable as to when they run the ball. Grigsby, for my liking, doesn't hit the hole fast enough when the hole IS open. It would be nice to use Pontbriand more, for those tough 2 yard plays or, as a diversion. I realize that the O-Line is continually in flux due to injuries, so they get a little leeway, and O'Shea did mention, in a quiet way, what they are doing different, as of last game, to change how they attack the running aspect of our offence…so they are aware of lack of production. Still a work in progress.

This Messam argument is ridiculous. It shouldn't be about who it was at all. Messam, Mr. Peabody or Darian Durant. Their offence, no matter who it was, or if it was by pass or running, did not dominate the game or even win the game by subtraction. The TOP was was :09 Winnipeg. Messam did not keep the ball away from us any more than any team's normal offence would have. His handling of the ball led to a meagre 4 points. Our primary purpose of stopping the pass worked very well and the fact that their running game accounted for only 4 points cannot be denied. And penalties? O'Shea has done a good job on that front. Don't discredit the Bombers control in that area. It can easily be said we force other teams to be taking all those penalties, not the other way around. Saskatchewan won the game on turnovers whether you choose to admit it or not. We didn't deserve to win with 5-6 turnovers to none…and that's what happened. To bring in personal arguments about such and such player in such a game is laughable, really.

Why are you posting this in this thread? Gee, there was a break in the action, and i thought I'd fill it with some information... Did i do a boo-boo? Pretend you didn't read it.

MUAMBA SHINES "Don't count on seeing Henoc Muamba back home in Canada any time soon: The former Bombers linebacker was a beast in his pre-season NFL debut for the Indianapolis Colts. He racked up nine tackles, two assisted tackles and a forced fumble in a 13-10 loss to the New York Jets." Free Press

And his name….so close.

I'm still waiting for one of these QBs to get real, real close to the line of scrimmage while in the process of throwing the ball a la mode of Ricky Ray and Drew Wily, so I can post the actual rule... Rule 6 Article 3 - NOTE: The release point of the ball is the determining factor whether the pass is thrown from a point across the line of scrimmage.
-
So far, it's been a lark. Can they wait and play like that on the 22nd when they visit us? or will the mighty Garcia have them fixed by then?
-
There is no way I feel we were kind of lucky to have a 7 point lead. We did have offence, we did move the ball, we did score 2 offensive TDs How far would we have gone with the turnover game even? We lost, we turned the ball over, the two are not mutually exclusive.
-
You know what I want to see? 5 turnovers by that vaunted Edmonton attack.
