[Merged] 2014 Predictions / Standing Forecast
Mr Dee replied to AtlanticRiderFan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I see nothing wrong with allowing our Offence to keep 'practising' plays that are not quite working out now, while we are winning*. (and that's a big footnote) Those plays that we are 'practising' now will either work out because of the 'practice' or we'll move on to plays that do work. Either way…let's just keep racking up the wins. -

Is Kent Austin the most "hated" coach in the league?
Mr Dee replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'd fake a vote for Chris Jones and pass it over to Austin. -
These are pretty well the numbers I wrote down for these players, taking into account possible games missed, here and there. Now, if I could only find that paper I wrote those numbers on for proof…. Those numbers are very encouraging for a 'newly' forged attack and are miles ahead of what we could have expected and reflect what can happen when you have a good QB to distribute the ball. And I certainly can't fail to mention MB's role in all of this for recognizing what he has in this offence and the roles he has set for these players. **Put this all together with Wylie's help and get the ball out fast for Willy and these are the numbers we're getting.

Can't believe the number of people who don't credit a good play when it is made, as opposed to try to find the fault in a game-winning throw.

Tim Horton Field Not Ready Until Labour Day (Maybe)

That's what happens when Ti-Cat fans mess around with Kharma, as in when the steel workers(?) painted/burned Hamilton Tiger Cats on the roof beams in our stadium. -
January 21st, 2014 - The Bombers sign a 6ft., 200 pound receiver who was drafted 38th overall in 2011. As a starter for LavalRouge et Or, the two-time all-Canadian finished as the second-leading receiver in CIS history with 238 receptions. He went back to school in 2011, but in 2012 was a member of the Argos…used mainly as a special-teamer. Julian Feoli-Gudino Doing everything this year that we were hoping young Etienne would do. And doing it in the utmost clutch situations. Need a 1st down? JFG Need a clutch catch to keep the drive going? JFG Need a heroic TD to win the game? JFG If you look up the translation of Spanish to English, Feoli-Gudino translates into…..Feoli-Gudino but really, in this year, the Bomber translation is Feel-Good Julian Feel-Good story of the year.

I don't know who was responsible for calling the last play of the game but that was an insane choice imo. They only needed 3 yards to score, a quick slant in and a bullet to Denmark has better odds than throwing a rainbow across the field to a RB. I was virtually stunned when that play succeeded. The play call was on the brilliant side of basic play calling IMO, as it isolates our RB outside where Drew just has to locate the ball for him. The mistake was Denmark being in the same time zone as Grigby…too many bodies there. However, Denmark did position himself to block out any defender, and Willy absolutely nailed the play of the game by floating the ball over the cover man…perfectly. It's always brilliant when it works.

No, you're right about Anderson, the guy who was sweating profusely through sheer effort throughout the match. Color me shocked to find ourselves trailing in the game when we were in such control. Have to give their OC credit for changing things up to keep up the momentum they got on the Gable TD. Color me stunned with my heartbeat pumping to see us go through that routine of driving the field to win. Drew Willy would not be denied.

Walters is going to wait 'til the very last minute, then lob him a perfectly thrown contract and pen for Willy's signature, for a big 6 and the win…for all of us. Should we be so excited? Damn rights.

I'm not minding MB's play calling for the most part, because he is working in new aspects to our offence, hello Paris Cotton, Pontbriand and virtually anyone who is on the bench. Put me in Coach, I'm ready to play…today. The running game is still missing its mark, but it's doesn't seem to be as big a concern…when you're winning.

I have to give extra kudos for two players on the team who have been questioned as to why they are on this team. They worked their butts off tonight and were prominent in securing this victory. For two unsung heroes, Greg Peach, who had a hell of a game tonight 5 tackles, 2 sacks and constant pressure, and Aaron Kelly who came in tonight and picked up where Nick Moore left off, 7 catches 101 yards. Gentlemen, I salute your efforts...

Add to that that insane catch that Feoli-Gudino made at the 3 yd. line….and hung onto the ball. Awesome.

anonymous thoughts from CFL coaches/execs
Mr Dee replied to bearpants's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'd agree with this. The system they put in place allowing a crossover team in the first place, addressed the biggest issue we had in the CFL…where the teams with poor records in one division, made the playoffs over team with better records. It works better now in a league with 2 divisions, and the only way to improve that is to have one division…and I'm not sure that's going to happen any time soon. -
But Alex Hall had no future value to us, and that's what we're really concerned with here, isn't it? Value in 2013 of Hall for us - 0. Probably more value for Sask. but they still didn't have to make that trade. They didn't need to make that trade. You still have to factor Neufeld as an experienced NI O-Lineman, and that has value….2nd rounder for a 4th rounder coming back, and Neufeld? for a goner? No problem, no problem at all.

But that's a paradox…you have indicated by your post, that there will be less o….. but you still want Willy to send more on the deep throw. If he's injured there will be less O, so how can you send him deep? What? What is less O? Are you telling me that wasn't an intentional spelling misdirection on your part from Moore to more…and therefore, less o? My mistake. Carry on. -

You had me in your corner about Hefney…then you lost me on the Washington comment.

Interesting Willy goes to a team that has some O line issues and he's done OK...

Are the Bombers going to change the way the league thinks?
Mr Dee replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
As we thought 'outside the box' when we used our tight end formation and passed the ball to the tight ends, we thought outside the box when we signed players to utilize when the the need arose. Case in point…signing Feoli-Gudino to compliment Corey Watson when he inevitably went down. Worked out really fine so far. -
Ironic, isn't it? Troy Smith is in trouble with Montreal's coaching staff because it was aim to be the #1 QB… …should have just stuck with being in the running for the position...he would have had a better chance.
-
???? Romby just wasn't getting open at all. It was painful. No, clearly on the play in the end zone, if Willy had placed the ball just 5 yards further, it would have been a picture perfect TD. Romby had his man beat, but Willy under threw him.

It would be hard to believe a QB could achieve the same success that Reilly did. After all, it was done mostly with ad-libbed, broken plays that Reilly ran with sheer will power….and lots of poor tackling. You can bet that the Bombers are looking for Reilly the next chance we get. As for LeFevour, he may be running, but it won't be because of breakdowns in the defence…it will be because he has to. If the Bombers are as intense and focused on the short game and the running game as last week, we should prevail.
