Gavins fined for dirty hit on Drew Willy
Mr Dee replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Fans are starved for CFL football and with hardly any news during the week, TSN has centre stage starting on the weekends. Each team's fans want to hear news and views about their teams both before and after the games. So, to say it's not about the panel is only mildly correct. If they're talking football and especially about the game…there will be interest. I do forget about the post-game segment in the Sports Centre and I guess they need a little time to set it up, so, IMO, they still should title it Post-Game and have some sports news 'til they're ready or at the very least, pump it up. The Sports Panel guys are who they are and for better or worse, and at least we do have that show for the CFL news and views. -

I heartily agree there should be a CFL Post-Game show. Especially this year. I mean, after a climax like those last two Bomber games you can't just up and leave. Where's the cigarette and small talk? (minus the cigarette of course) -

From this …… ……to this?…...….Time for him to go? -
I suspect it has more to do with getting Cotton into the lineup as it does removing Woods, but I'm with you guys. His numbers prove that he is consistent, reliable, and always has positive yardage. I think he is just beginning to pick his holes better and has credible numbers…but there is that Cotton intrigue.

How do you think the Bombers felt about Lapo's 3 or 4 minute half-time speeches….. -
Ottawa @ Edmonton - - Ottawa, on the road again…without the benefit of a total focused game plan against one team….I don't like the sounds of that. They did do a lot of things right but if the adjustments they made couldn't do the trick against Wpg., I can't see much difference vs. Edm. - Edmonton has not been knock-out impressive, but did just enough to win 2 games, with one on the road. Reilly and Willis are looking good, but their running game is just pathetic enough to let Ottawa sneak out a victory….but not this time. EDMONTON Calgary @ Toronto - - Injuries are the story here. Cornish and Price are out for Calg. while Durie and probably Emry are out for Tor. That still leaves Ray, Owens and Coombs. Calg. should be able to handle most of what Tor. shows but is it enough? Calgary will have to keep the ball out of Ray's hands but I'm not convinced BL Mitchell is the one who can do that right now. TORONTO BC @ Saskatchewan - - I'm thinking Sask. is going to be looking for redemption. I'm thinking Kevin Glenn will be a hunted man. I'm thinking Glenn will be looking for help. Unless the Lions have a massive game plan, it won't be on Sat. - SASKATCHEWAN

Oh yeah, well how does O'Shea Stadium sound?

I hate the double tight formation. I find the possibilities of the double tight formation are intriguing and possibly endless

The weekly Jerome Messam, invaluable National/Bombers missed out on him thread. Yawn.

Not only is what you said true, you get bonus points for using the word skulk, as part of your thought process.

There is no list, in print media, that should be started, without Ed Tait at the top of the list period

Tough choices to choose between…I'll have to get my dart board out, consult the latest Dart Game on TSN, then make the necessary 3/4 arm toss for the deciding vote. Bullseye…I'll watch Golf. I would rather watch competitive knitting. Not me…don't like needles.

Grigsby…Marve….Feoli-Gudino - one each. Grigsby for my choice. -

Yeah, no way on the Eskimos @ #1 And as far as our own personal rankings…seems to matter as much as the "Real" power rankings. My own Week-to-Weak choices are: Last Week This Week Sask. - Calagry - by the bye Calg. - Winnipeg - pretty solid offence over 2 weeks and nice adjustments for the comeback win Wpg. - Edmonton - special performance by Willis, never quit attitude by Reilly, a little lucky on Ham. QBs' lack of making plays Edm. - Toronto - Ray, Owens, Durie, Coombs…'nough said Ham. - Saskatchewan - Durant was off enough to allow Toronto to make plays B.C. - Montreal - That defence was awesome and the offence did just enough to win Tor. - Ottawa - very spirited game, but did we see their best and they still lost? Mon. - BC - Something isn't jiving with the Kevin Glenn-led offence Ott. - Hamilton - Well, they did have good performances from M Coe and Simoni Lawrence…..

Grigsby did step up to block and help seal the block, that part is correct, (there was a blocker engaged already) but, as to his actual assignment, that is another matter. He could have been responsible for hanging back to engage a delayed rush or as a release, either way he did not engage the outside man. If I had to guess, I'd say that was his man. -
I think I've read this somewhere before...

Do you mean from one to another to another?

Part of me questions Collaro's decision to hang onto the ball as long as he did. Clearly he had a front view of Willis bearing down on him…very quickly, and he chose to 'one-one thousand' the throw. And is it ever clear his wind up doesn't help him out at all when he needs to throw quickly. To be clear, I'm not blaming Collaros, but he does have to get rid of that ball.

But the very reason that Grigsby is being vilified is the fact that he made an incorrect decision, and it could have cost us a serious hit and injury on our QB, and that almost happened. Grigsby, I'm sure, has been made aware of this fact in film review. -
Speaking of fines…why isn't there a fine to Watkins for outright theft when he stole the ball right out of the arms of Masoli when he was being tackled?
-
Kharma has come back to haunt them big time as I seem to recall some workers writing/burning Hamilton Ti-Cats, or something along those lines, into our roofing structure.
-
Except that he didn't leave his feet to throw the hit. Willis ran through Collaros throwing his shoulder. The resulting follow through is where Willis left his feet and contacted Collaros's helmet. He did not lead with his helmet. And if there is a resulting fine, well so be it, but to say that play should have been flagged is questionable as it happened so fast and Willis was shown and said to have led with his shoulder.

The media get what they deserve, from us fans who are passionate about their team. That's the whole point. We are the fans. The media get to cover our team as part of their job. So do your job. Don't know a particular rule? Learn it. Don't know how a particular player is doing? Watch him. Watch the damn practices and report what you see. You can even have your own opinion. Just do your job. You want respect…earn it Touchy? Not without reason
