  1. Excited and nervous about this bruising encounter between the Blacks and Blue. I'm liking the calm demeanour that Mike O'Shea brings and the focus he provides. No game film? "Know yourselves". "Know your assignments". Sounds easy enough.
  2. I'm no hipster but the originality of this show, with its layers of comedic nuances, delivered with professional timing, in a fast pace, makes it a hit with me.
  3. A suspension carries a lot of weight in the CFL fan forum boards..therefore you are not allowed to use that name or any form of that name in any way, shape or manner until the suspension is lifted or said player is traded.
  4. I think Turner should now be considered in the running for POTW (ParentOfTheWeek)
  5. 3 in a row for Grigsby.
  6. I can understand posting what would have been the final rankings from last year…as a reference point, but that's it. Like 17 says, and especially this year, with Ottawa joining the ranks, there is way too much turnover. As an example: Week One Powder Rankings Last year Week 1 Sask Sask - strong running game in a monsoon, relentless pass rush against a confused Ham. squad. Calg. Calg. - slow start morphs into a decent QB performance, decent girdle hides Nic Lewis's girth Ham. Wpg. - good discipline, good game plan, good performances, good grief. Tip of the hat to Bellefeuille and Etcheverry. Tor. Edm. - Mike Reilly, Adarious Bowman, lots of energy, deserved win BC Ham. - no chance for Collaros to perform, confused line play Mont. BC. - 5 turnovers from this Pillsbury bunch Edm Tor. - valiant attempt at the CFL penalty total, no answers for a very good Bomber attack Wpg Mont. - scrambling QB, scrambled offence, no pop in this game plan *Ott. Ott. Every week these rankings can change a little or a lot, depending on how the teams are trending, injuries and such. After one third of the season, when all teams have had their bye (week 10) we'll have had a better grasp of where teams stand.
  7. I hope Burris and the boys are enjoying the day off, because we're going to make sure they have an off day on Thursday. Whatever you're doing - enjoy your day!
  8. You mean Edsel Ford, don't you?
  9. I think when they mentioned Saskatchewan's reign as CFL Champs, what we saw on Sunday, was not what they meant. Basically a write-off for a game, although one team was able to cope and the other? well that was Hamilton. Anthony Allen wrenched that game away from Hamilton with the help of the O-Line boys and that swarming defence 10 sacks! What a jump in the lead in the sack race! Gotta love that post game question to Austin : What's your mood after this game?………..Followed by a stunned expression by Austin then "What's my mood?" a slight chuckle, a look of exasperation, then "What's the next question?" grimace. Best game? Easy - Bombers vs Toronto….by the Bombers, an all around good effort (save for the STs) Biggest surprise? same game Poorest performance? Montreal QB opposites - Drew Willy to Troy Smith Most ignorant on field play - Hiebert's hit on Cornish Most ignorant off field play - Kory Banks Noticed players - Drew Willy/ Aaron Kelly/ Nic Grigsby/ Kuale/ Vega/ Leggett/Adarious Bowman(drat)/ Mike Reilly(Buono's non-choice) /Joe Burnett/ Grymes/Kevin Glenn(wrong reasons)/Allen****Knapp BTW, Mike Reilly got credit for one tackle…..as many as the invisible Marcus Howard. And the award for best throwing over the weekend? To the Refs - for the flags 17-148 Ham 11-97 Sask 22-163 Tor 7-72 Wpg 12-120 Mont 12-129 Calg 13-93 Edm 7-40 BC Total 101 − 862 avg. 25 penalties for 4 games ……Yikes.
  10. I think we're looking at the Cory Watson situation in the wrong way. If we thought of him strictly as a rotational player, then I think the performance he gives us, in limited time, is pretty damn good. Trouble is, rotation is usually in the same game….but, we can work around that.
  11. That's better, because we all know how quickly inflated numbers get exaggerated and then floated around and passed off as accurate, now don't we?
  12. Wasn't his signing bonus $50K? Penton said it was in excess of $50k, and Madani said it was around $60k. So we'll go with 50k plus, but isn't that the only money he could have earned up to this point?
  13. Wasn't his signing bonus $50K?
  14. ...and who gets some credit from the coach. Part of the deal is encouraging this kind of attitude....and repressing some other kinds. Our last number of coaches couldn't seem to get behind this concept, or impose their will to ensure it. Absolutely. I forgot to add that the Coach, by singling Moore out to the players for understanding his role in the game, he is, in fact revealing a small snippet into the role of HC that O'Shea is presenting and you better believe the "buy-in" is going to make a huge difference in changing this team to having a winning culture. And, of course, another good piece of writing by Mr. Tait.
  15. What a putrid game that was from every aspect. Horrible conditions, tons of penalties, no way to determine if Sask. has any kind of team, as we have nothing to base it on. Can Hamilton really be that bad? Where's that vaunted Nat. def line and strong LB crew? Lucky for them it's early and they'll get better. They will get better…right? I mean I'd hurl insults at them but that wouldn't be fair, because they have no way of blocking them. *Collaros gets a pass for now, as he had no help, but I do see the advantage of having Willy.
  16. I'll post on it a bit later, but i must say it's getting easier as i won't have to consider anybody from Montreal, Hamilton or BC for that matter.
  17. After the anthem?
  18. I posted a comment on that very point more than 4 hours ago, and they must have "lost" the posting as it still hasn't shown up. So now I posted a question as to where my comment went. I guess they don't want to show it.
  19. Don't forget, Higgins worked in the Command centre, so all he has to do is point or touch his hat, and underlings know what he needs done. That, and the fact he passes on messages to players and assts. thru the officials, as he still has plenty of influence even without wearing striped clothing.
  20. Why are you saying we should have done more homework on a guy who wanted to do anything to help this club win the Grey Cup, except, of course the same said do anything to help this team? Can't always see when a guy is going to do a turnaround when you least expect it.
  21. Yup, the cost, in Winnipeg of all places where the cost of players is hotly debated because we expect to get more for less. They are simply trying to fill that void that you always seem to bring up, that gap between what we spend and what other teams spend, remember? we never seem to spend to the limit like other teams do. This is your fault.
  22. And here we go with the GM competency posts and a swipe at the HC too. And earlier than normal….triple bonus! Geez, I forgot about the lying…the constant lying. Think of where we'd be without the lying. Did I miss anything?
  23. Mike O'Shea points out an unsung hero from the Argo game - Nick Moore. "O'Shea said he singled out receiver Nick Moore to the players for understanding his role in the game. Asked to block more in the game plan against the Argos, Moore didn't get the touches many expected (two catches for 32 yards), but was critical in helping get others open and giving Willy more time. "You talk about a guy, a free-agent receiver we signed to catch touchdowns and he's coming in giving everything he's got to make these blocks and downfield he's blocking hard," said O'Shea. "I singled that out because that's impressive. He was very physical." It's nice to be reminded, once in a while, that there are players who check their egos, for the good of the team. A notch up in respect for Mr. Moore. - Blue Bomber report, Ed Tait.
  24. Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming RT @FarhanLaljiTSN: The #Bombers have released Korey Banks. #CFL Even though we have money tied up in Banks, it seems it's best that he and the Bombers part paths. Don't PO Mike O'Shea.
  25. A Goosen hand is much better than a Glenn playing bush.
