Kirk Penton: 3 STARS OF THE DAY Pint-sized WR Aaron Woods was dominant on the second-last day of training camp, hauling in pass after pass from a variety of quarterbacks. New RB Kyle Bolton, meanwhile, proved he’s not just the snazzy pair of hands Johnny Manziel used to catch his passes during his pro day; Bolton showed off dazzling speed lugging the rock out of the backfield. Finally, QB Robert Marve displayed his precise passing skills with several pinpoint tosses into the end zone. CATCH OF THE DAY Bert Reed, who was being hounded by a defensive back, made a tough grab in the end zone on a Robert Marve toss. Good news AND no further injuries.

Mike Reilly - Fun with three tires.

To Greg Carr? -
Iso, in this case, is like a placekicker, he will get the point….after.
-
You are seriously undervaluing the worth of a Lirim.

Please don't let it be Etienne who becomes available and gets picked up by the Bombers. Are you kidding? Can you imagine the battle for jersey #88 between he and Brett Carter? ……….who can blow whom over first?

Could be a game turner.

[Merged] 2014 Predictions / Standing Forecast
Mr Dee replied to AtlanticRiderFan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You may be right, but I wouldn't be basing it on that stinker of a pre-season game they just played. Out right putrid. Yeah, it was, but too bad they didn't have a RB who ran for over 150 yds., they may have cut him too. Parting with the rec Dell was odd. Maybe Willis got confused with a Dell on O. -
Some people are saying that is a failure on recruiting…what if it's success by Kelly?
-
Jaymar - unimpressive in the 1st game but much more effective in the 2nd game. Coach's decision for sure. Urrutia - does not meet fan expectations but what about the coach's? Kemp - as mentioned…flashes of good and meh Reed - still a ? Kelly - I'd be surprised if he isn't around after the 21st. Dell - I watched that wretched Esks. game and thought Edmonton's highlight was the play of Dell. Then I discover he was cut. Does not compute. Could be a good pickup.

Looks like a whiny face to me.

My litmus test is that if something happened to Willy, right now, it would be Hall that goes in. It may be Brohm in the long run, and I'm fine with that, because what's best for the Bombers is what I'm concerned with.
-
Just going on a hunch here, but I bet you like re-runs too.

I haven't watched the play over and over, but on the replay it looked like the tackle got confused as to which man he should take, hesitated before moving back, and by then it was too late. It did not look like the left side was facing a numbers issue. It did look like a play where the tackle should at least have gotten a chip on the blitzer but he didn't. I'll take your word for it that it was Peterson. Hall shouldn't make plays assuming his teammates are incompetent, you make them assuming others will do their jobs. And then he got blown up good. Real good. You described the play pretty well how it happened regarding the tackle #51. A simple chip and that int. doesn't happen. Exactly right regarding Hall…he's got to assume the play, as called, is going to work as drawn up. How can you recognize a broken play... much less plan for it?
-
If you are hit while throwing, how do you eat the ball. You can only really eat the ball if you are setting up to throw... Looks to me like he was throwing when he was hit and the ball did reach the back of the endzone. you recognize that you don't have time to throw the ball and protect it. It was a missed block..no way to have known the time restraints…no way.
-
Just watched that int. play over again and again…and the same thing happened….. But really, now I see the blitz came from the other side and Peterson, the tackle should have had the outside man, no question. It was the protection, not the play called. And that's basically Hall has said. He said it was the right call. (Happened with about 5:25 left in the game) And the receiver (Woods) went to the outside where it looked like the play should have gone.
-
Don't forget the Laurent lament. It's like saying, I should have dated so and so when they were available….never fully realizing they weren't interesTED.
-
It's hard to argue a play that didn't come off…you see it as it wasn't there and I saw the man open. To me, just because the QB didn't make it happen doesn't mean it wasn't there.
-
Or he could read the blitz pre-snap when 6 guys are lined up full bore on the line of scrimmage and move his first read onto a route where he has a chance to get the ball out before he's snowed under. He can pretty safely assume on a blitz like that when he has fewer blockers than blitzers that there will be pressure coming from an outside gap, unless one of his linemen miraculously block 2 guys. The OL handled that blitz correctly, the QB didn't. Don't know what was called…don't know what could have been called that would have made a difference. It's a split second decision and the play was there. Nobody can say another call would have resulted in a different result. Shoulda, coulda. situation.
-
That interception was a tough one. But it's too easy to say he shouldn't have thrown it. The play was called, The man, men were open, the blitz was on, Hall knew it, he had maybe 2 seconds to react because of the missed block, and he was already in the throwing motion. Not a good result, but the choice would have been to bail when he saw the blitz was coming. That's not a good choice to make either. We don't want our QBs to turtle too fast. They can't assume someone will botch their block. A matter of trust. If Peterson gets half a block, it's aTD.
-
Renaud made a great play to avoid a blocked kick in the last game and got away a decent punt and he placed the ball well all night. He'll be more than OK.
-
It's pretty simple, they want their NIs to be able to play STs and they really believe that the position has been filled nicely with Cotton and Ford. But, even though I've liked Messam in the past, I have to ask myself, if he's that important an NI, why has he been released after the first cuts? Couldn't Mont. figure out a way to keep him on their roster?
-
Paris Cotton has made the final roster?
Mr Dee replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's not such a leap for picking Cotton at this particular time and unless there's something we don't know, it will be Grigsby on the outs and Ford waiting to regain his status as top RB. -
While many are waiting for the shoe to drop on Mike O'Shea's reactions, all's I see is a Coach who is on top of the situation, is extremely concerned about the well-being of his players , is focused, excited and is looking forward to the regular season and all that it will bring. He basically said he's knows what they put in on defence and that the players have bought into it. As to special teams, he knows the players have been rotated in and out and haven't had a chance to get familiar with each other. He says that will come. He's not worried. We all want answers to questions about preseason and they are just concerned with training camp mode. Looks like the focus is on the right thing to me. All that worry? It looks like that's the job for the fan forums.

Sounds like he has a "secret" agent.
