Love what Max Hall has to say about their offensive scheme…. "I don't want to say too much, but it'll be fast, it'll be exciting to watch. Very aggressive. Teams last year just started blitzing us, zero-blitzing us a bunch. I dare them to try and do that this year. We have some good stuff in, and we're going to be throwing the ball downfield. 3 stars of the day - Max Hall - had a second straight strong day, attracting Mike O'Shea's eye with his quick decisions and accuracy. Aaron Woods - diminutive slotback and kick returner was very noticeable, particularly as a receiver. Lirim Hajrullahu - showed off his leg, easily making a 47 yard FG into the wind (would have been good from 60) and sending a kickoff deep over Woods head and into the end zone. Catch of the day - Brett Carter made a juggling grab of a Marve throw over the middle, with a defender draped all over him during the early practice. Well, what do you know, a sports report. Who knew? Wpg. Sun….Paul Friesen.

Main Camp Day 6 (Reports and Discussion)
Mr Dee replied to M.O.A.B.'s topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Kyle Walters today on CJOB: - Status quo on the CFLPA/CFL…no comments - thinks Drew Willy has had a great camp so far and it'd good to see the QB coach and how he is helping the young QBs learn the game better and is on them every day. Wasn't possible before for an OC to have enough time to teach and watch…too time specific. - Much better system now…for all positions to have coach's eyes on them all the time. - battle for #2 is interesting…mentioned both Hall and Brohm, says Marve is coming along for the newest member in the CFL and has a really strong arm. Will have to wait for game situations for more QB evaluations. - Kicking battle is going very well, Lirim has been phenomenal -strong leg, FGs and punting has been good….Maher has a strong leg and the battle is going well. - Goosen is getting better, there is a learning curve, identifying the calls is a big step up, and he is handling it…will be an exceptional player, just a matter of time for the mental part of the game. - Bob Wylie is a teacher with a vast amount of respect and experience, technically the best, fantastic to watch him coach and to see the improvement in the O-Line every day. - Volny is looking like his old self now that he's not wearing a brace. - Grigsby is the bigger, smoother back, Cotton is the smaller, 100 MPH guy and Ford is somewhere in between. - Mike O'Shea is a no nonsense guy, the way he comes across is the way he is….he's committed…knows the way he wants things done and is entrenched in how he approaches everything and demands that the coaches promote his message, and that he wants a unified group. Nothing about him missing any school time. -
You call them excuses but that is the course the staff has pursued and it makes sense in what they are trying to achieve. As far as Walters goes, why not back up your statement with facts instead of throwing out what you say is no doubt in your mind?
-
So, you guys wanted us to pursue someone who …..didn't re-sign with his original club after no NFL offers, and …..it was reported he wanted to go 'home' to the east, most thought Montreal, turns out he wanted Austin and the Ti-Cats, and …..to throw huge sums of money at him to try and convince him to come here, meanwhile knowing full well that he wouldn't fit in the system we are running. Have I got that right?

Main Camp Day 6 (Reports and Discussion)
Mr Dee replied to M.O.A.B.'s topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Heard a couple of interviews on CJOB with Bryant Turner and Max Hall. (Audio Vault) Bryant loves the new system, new DC, new veteran presence (great group of leaders), Jason Vega being back, and the idea that offences will have a hard time figuring them out. He sounds very excited. (June 5th 6:41pm) Max Hall (who wouldn't do interviews until he felt focused) feels way more comfortable in a system that isn't patchwork, feels experience from last year was invaluable, he's in better shape, arm is stronger, excited on the new O system..knows where to go now instead of play by play adjusting, feels it's a more veteran team and they all expect to do better, thinks O'Shea is outstanding, likes his style of coaching and feels the players will work hard for him. (June 4th 6:40pm) -
Do you really, honestly think, after all that's been written about Laurent, that he would have seriously considered Winnipeg?

Madani: CFLPA Recommends Strike Vote To Members
Mr Dee replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Why re-vote? You would think that with that heavy strike support vote that was leaked, (98%) they could just do it anyway. Re-vote would include rookies meaning they can strike too. But there wouldn't be enough rookies to make a difference with that overwhelming majority, unless the legislation in Ontario stipulates otherwise. -

Madani: CFLPA Recommends Strike Vote To Members
Mr Dee replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
They're having another strike vote at McMahon Stadium on Saturaday, so my educated guess is that the 2 teams that haven't voted yet are Edmonton & Calgary. Where it's reported that all the players under contract, even 1st year players, can vote on the proposal. -
Starting 3 imports on the o-line seems to be complete speculation by Penton. As for Pencer, maybe he just has the flu. It's not just Penton speculating. Watch Oshea's press conference today. It's there, in the back of the cupboard, just beyond the reach of perusing. If you watched the scrum you know that he said everybody is moving around and has to know how to play different positions when carrying only 6 men on game day 3 import O-Line guys? Doubtful. As to Pencer..like Jacquie says…maybe he just has the flu, as reported. O"Shea also said Pencer would be at meetings tonight and is likely dehydrated.

Recap of Mike O'Shea Video after Day 4 - Sure knows his injury situation, he is up-to-date on all players (not like last year) - Believes the "compete level" is very in camp and finds that rewarding for the Coaches. - Extremely comfortable with Drew Willy (his charting is good)…repeats that Max Hall is doing well ("impressive" in one set he mentioned) - Repeats his rating of Don Unumba…"athletic" and gives his top praise…he's a 'footballer' - Explains that Etch's system is basically what the CFL is going to - versatility - and believes that we have a lot of players who want to play 'anywhere' just to make this club - On camp fights…that shows emotion, which is fine, but he doesn't like them. What he wants is #1 to take care of your team mates and #1 not to take penalties, cause that's not taking care of your mates. - Love Mike Scheper's teaching and animation…what he teaches in the film room translates on to the field. - Julian Feoli-Gudino - works hard and really plays well on ST, "strong-gripped" and knows what O'Shea wants. Has the tools to be a receiver

Main Camp Day 5 (Reports and Discussion)

Could you repeat that? Couldn't hear you the 1st time. -
I'm bound and determined to buy one of those cool T-Shirts. There are wagon trains leaving for Kelowna every few weeks (passing thru Calgary for supplies). I might get you to send me one or I'll pick one up when in town for the Montreal game. I'll check in later.

Madani: CFLPA Recommends Strike Vote To Members
Mr Dee replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Well, if this doesn't throw a funk into the wagnells... Drew Edwards……... • one element of the labour dispute not getting enough attention is the Alberta Labour Relations Board ruling that will allow all players under contract - including first-year players - to participate in the the srike vote this weekend (and, one would assume, any ratification vote.) The CFLPA has maintained that players who have not played in a CFL game - and therefore haven't paid union dues off a game cheque - aren't eligible to vote. Now, the CFLPA has a situation where all players on two teams are voting while only vets are voting on the seven others. The league would like all players to vote because they believe that the vast majority of first-year players won't want to strike, given that they need training camp to earn jobs. Man, you Alberta folks have some weird interpretations. -
Why would Maher be affected at all? I would assume NI depth as tenuous as it is right now, at any position, will not allow us an import kicker.
-
Yes, it sucks for Lucas, big time…what a huge disappointment. *Also sucks for kicker Brett Maher…his chances just slipped lower….for now.
-
"But let the record show one of the most-impressive passes thrown through the early days of camp was an absolutely perfect spiral that covered 50 yards after simple a flick of a 48-year-old ex-quarterback's wrist." Author? it was Ed Tait Who he was talking about? it was Danny McMannus

First Coach's Show tonight on CJOB at 7:00 pm CST
Mr Dee replied to kelownabomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
KBF, we're two hours behind Winnipeg time, here in BC…not two days! * I have a re-cap in the Mike O"Shea thread. -
Agreed. I could listen to Bob and Mike talk football everynight! Yeah, Bob knows what, and how to ask…and Mike knows his stuff and what he wants. Must be a relief not hear Timbo stumble through questions with answers that were sometimes worse than the questions. Tim Burke is a very good asst. Coach but he is an example of what O'Shea wants to keep away from a microphone and a loaded question.

Recap of Monday's Coach's Show…CJOB 7pm audio vault: -Pleased there is improvement in learning after 2 days. -They are looking for effort and 'buy in' Are they capable? and are they willing to study, watch film and do what's necessary to do what's necessary. He feels they can teach them further if they are willing. -Players have to be in shape…they have to adapt to the time clock and field size. Over the year their body will deteriorate, so they have to stay in shape. -Split practices with shorter breaks in between are better to 'stay warm' and need less time to get warm for the next session. Better to recover and more time off their feet. -Kickers - Pat Tracey in charge and logs everything. Their final decision still will be factored by more than stats (think ratio and NI depth) Pronounces Lirim's name as Hi-ru-la-hu -long snappers - Sean Blake, a talented LS and Ian Wild is a great LS who makes plays after he snaps, a talented football player who 'gets' the game and could play anywhere, fun to watch, getting reps at MLB Brett Carter - unfortunate to be on a game roster last year, a mistake (my word) and couldn't be used as a non-counter, that's how his situation played out Nick Moore - go to receiver, works very hard..even when he's not the target rec. Don Unamba - he's here because they had to have an uamba of some sort in the lineup, having lost Muamba and Mulumba….ok that part's not true, but he is considered athletic and 'foot-smart'…learns quickly and is noticed. Max Hall - ahead of last year because he's had more time now…even has picked up in arm strength, can make more throws, more comfortable. RBs - impressed with their individual abilities, but is waiting for game action to see separation Doesn't feel the looming work stoppage is affecting the work ethic at all, they're focused, and this is like an 'escape' for them. Loves the energy of training camp, finds it fun and exciting and believes it helps in the team acting together and caring for each other. ** The Coach"s Show with Mike O'Shea will be ten times better than past shows, even with the same lame callers, …..for now anyways.
