Main Camp Day 3 (Reports and Discussion)
Mr Dee replied to M.O.A.B.'s topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
3rd day view from Chad Wassing (from the Blue Bomber website) Here are a few notes from what I observed. This includes all the biases and errors prone in such an observation from a regular Joe like me, so this is for entertainment purposes only, folks. - The Bombers may have a problem on their hands. All three main contestants in the running back battle look great. Nic Grigsby put a sick move on a linebacker (EJ Kuale?) out of the backfield for a catch that had his teammates oohing. Paris Cotton has speed to burn, and showed it going around the end on a big run. Will Ford, while he didn’t catch my eye with anything spectacular, sure did look like a veteran back there. - The Offensive Line has a lot of good import talent. Dan Knapp, Jarvis Jones, Quentin Saulsberry all stood out to me. It’s pretty hard to judge the hogs during practice, but if I were Glenn January, I’d be bringing my work boots every single day of Training Camp. - Receivers Aaron Kelly, Clarence Denmark, Nick Moore and rookie Mario Urrutia should have the quarterbacks drooling over their options. Honorable mention to Julian Feoli-Gudino, who looks like a good bet to see some significant time on the field this year. - Last year’s fan favorite, receiver Brett Carter, was on the field wearing number 88 but didn’t practice. He spent the practice observing with Cory Watson, who also sat out today. - Speaking of the quarterbacks, Drew Willy and Max Hall both looked good today. An impartial observer would probably be unable discern which was the starter and which was the back up. In fact, it looked more like a 1 and 1a situation. - Kicker Lirim Hajrullahu looks to have an edge on American Brett Maher, and not just because of his Canadian passport. Hajrullahu appeared to have about an extra five-to-eight yards on his field goal attempts. Both were fairly accurate from 40 yards off the tee, but the Canadian’s leg looks stronger from up here in the stands. That's it for today. Go down and see it for yourself, people. Free football! Interesting for me: Love to hear there's a battle at RB position. (I mean the names alone…Paris Cotton…the great Grigsby) - fantastic. Aaron Kelly's name keeps popping up as doing well in TC. The number 88 hasn't been retired. Max Hall keeps on choogling along. (CCR reference) Lirim wants us to learn how to write/pronounce his name. (by doing well) -

When you factor in human emotion, I think it's closer to 98.6. -
With an extra cushion or two.

I don't think you can relate the general ineptness that has been the Bombers over the last few years, especially, to the success that TO has had in the recent past, and Ham., only lately, because they hired the right people. We didn't. An entire new thread would have to be made on Braley, perhaps titled Good vs Evil..caught in between. -
Yup, he sure does get people talking and reading his garbage. Not me though, I don't read the Winnipeg Sun at all. But that really isn't it though is it? If you want first class information and a good source for breaking news, you certainly don't go to Paul Friesen. I can think of nobody who seeks out PF unless you have read/heard something like today, where he spews from the mouth into his typing hands. And in such a long off-season, people are inclined to read anything football related, especially on the Bombers. So, for Zontar to peddle that oft used line is silly when you know the reasons behind these comments. * Yeah, credentials. Don't forget, any slough can get press credentials, but it's another matter to be accredited with proper respect.

As Bauming said this morning if you simply ask O'shea anything you want to know he will tell you. If you don't ask he's not going to say anything. Pretty simple if you ask me. Well, that's the story right there. Mike O'Shea has been totally accessible and forthright, he is working with, and including the media. Give him the respect he deserves and he will do the same. You don't make friends by kicking someone in the shins, and hiding behind press credentials.

Day three, of the first year, of this guy's first stint as a Head Coach, and I've already heard more information, had more insight, and was entertained, all at the same time. It is total night and day from the last two or three HCs and I, for one, am very pleased at what I'm hearing so far. Mike O'Shea stated, when he first came here, that he wanted to create 'a culture of winning' and that he and Walters were going to hunker down and look at everybody in reference to the roster. So far, everything they've done is following what they've said. Friesen is never going to 'get it' nor will he be able to penetrate O'Shea's resolve, so all he has left are these pissy little articles that will keep him exactly where he needs to be, when respect and admiration are meted out…being controlled, as to the message.

Rookie Camp Day 3 (Reports and Discussion)

Yes, he knows a lot about yards, especially…..something about keeping so many yards away from someone…or something like that. -

Ah yes, Braley the same guy who might just have saved the CFL….what a nasty bugger and a total villain, but isn't it a good thing he came along? -
…..I think it's quite proper to issue a complaint. …..You just have to go through me. ……you'll be issued a number. ...I'll process the complaint, and if it's valid, I'll pass it on, if not ……..I'll be pleased to discuss it with you. ……….I think we can see eye to eye. ………I'm the adjudicator ……..and I'm here just for hugs.

……Here's that Blue transparency you wanted.

Well, you know how Chardonnay is a green-skinned grape used to make white wine? Well, it's nothing like that. Monsieur Charbonneau is, as mentioned, an understudy of Wylie's who has worked a couple of times with him in the past with Sask. and Wpg. Really, who better to have assist Wylie than him?

Why, were you expecting an inheritance? -
I don't see the problem here. Tag Bob Wylie as the man you want. Go after him, agree to terms, sign him with the knowledge he will be away sometimes. Meanwhile, a mentor is here to run the practices, Wylie will be here to review and revise. They seem to be all over this idea, so we'll see how it works out.

It's just his style. He is very well connected to the CFL. He could have, like 90% of the national sports media in this country, chosen to ignore the CFL & follow MLB, NFL, NBA & the NHL. Be grateful he feels the CFL is important., Just to be clear, I wasn't necessarily talking about Madani. -

Rookie Camp Day 3 (Reports and Discussion)
Mr Dee replied to M.O.A.B.'s topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Day 3 rookie camp, from the Mike O"Shea video: Sum up the rookie camp..how was it? - Those last 12 plays were excellent. The effort is that last team period was what we need, guys were flying around….when they see it on film, they'll know what's expected, what they should expect of themselves. Ed Tait says: O’Shea said he doesn’t need to try and temper his enthusiasm for the rookies’ collective work, knowing they’ll soon be going head-to-head against the veterans. Instead, he wants to embrace what he’s seen. -Wpg. Free Press Quote - Mike OShea :"I don’t know that you should temper (his enthusiasm)," he said. "We talked about this after Day 1: everybody qualified things by saying, ‘Oh, it’s only Day 1.’ Sure. But as long as you don’t get blinded to the other facts that will arise as time goes on and the other practices take place, I think it’s quite OK to talk about a player who did well on the first day. "I think it’s good to be excited." Mike OS'hea is excited about our DBs. (explains this in video) He says he'll talk to Kyle W. about potential cuts for Sunday. "Canadian receivers will be held to a higher standard." When talking about Canadian talent, Mike says they will not put anybody on the field based on anything other than 'do they make our team better' Mike feels that because they only have cut a couple of guys, that they have done a good job of bringing in the guys they wanted and that these players have come in and represented themselves well. Excited for Sat. and the energy that players will be bringing in. http://www.bluebombers.com/video/index/id/96503# And to think - the difference in style and manner between Mike O'Shea and last year's coach……is extraordinary and we well deserve it. -
Chuck was doing some kind of segment on the morning show. Hal called him on something and pretty much exploded. Can't recall the topic... That's too bad. I used to listen to Hal A. and he was the best thing on CJOB in the morning in my opinion. Nate's mate….C. Adler…well let's just say…nothing, and that is too flattering already.

Golly, Goalie, your post sounds like a tweet in itself… in the sense that it might be unpopular even though it contains some truth. -
For sure. I have to give credit where credit is due…and that's for Penton, who may have stumbled, here and there, with some football facts, but who has turned the corner, is engaging, and seems willing to learn and push himself to be better at writing about our mighty love…the Blue Bombers.
