  1. ...When I said ..live long and prosper…I wasn't talking of, nor to, CFL football players.
  2. You have to consider that our league, The Canadian Football League, is mostly a working man's professional league. In no way should it be considered a joke. It is unique and in it's own special way, very special, and too many have sacrificed so much to take it where it is, for it to be described in the way you present it. It is what it has to be, and does what it has to do, to survive up here in Canada. It's part of what makes it special. Let's face it, money isn't what makes this league what it is, but having said that, I sure hope they can hash out a more equitable deal.
  3. "The color blue causes the brain to release calming hormones, making it the color most suitable for studying and relaxation." This site Morning Big Blue causes the brain to learn football related information from informed sources…the cream of the crop, you might say. Definitely a "Blue" site for exciting news, relaxation and that "community" feeling. Good job…well done.
  4. Ha, Lucic has to go to a golf range now…..maybe he'll run into this……...
  5. Good one, but you forgot to thump your chest. BBB, the big bad Bruins were tamed and Lucic should have taken a lesson from Chara who embraced PK Suban…they were total on-ice enemies - that showed sportsmanship. Lucic now is a BUB, a big ugly Bruin.
  6. Well, Hage was retired and wasn't ever going to play for the redblacks, so I don't think he's much to give up. I'm definitely not sure about him trading the first overall pick, I think that we'll have to wait for a bit to judge that trade, see how Gott and Lavertu do this season. Gott is a proven starter and I think only about half of CFL first rounders become starters, so I can see the upside for Ottawa. I think it's the same kind of thinking that led us to trade a second rounder for Neufeld last season. Doesn't it make you wonder why Hage would have been even mentioned at all? A retired player is only a retired player if he is actually….retired. The value of that 1st pick is certainly worth more than just one player especially if it was Calgary who initiated the move. And if it was Ottawa… then shame on them.
  7. As it turns out he may get away with the QB glitch, but, in my view, I don't know that what he gained in Burris over Glenn was worthwhile, considering he could have had two FA starters for the money he paid Burris. But that's an old story. Desjardins may have got away with it, but then he did trade away a 1st rd. draft pick and the rights to another player for only a roster player, so does that start the talk that-he's-an-idiot on again?
  8. That crosscheck he took in the back of the head from Staal should have been a suspension and he didn't even get a minor. Yes, you're right. That was a rough shift for Crosby.
  9. Just wondering if that was the going Price?
  10. I'm really beginning to love the way our secondary is shaping up…especially compared to last year's.
  11. I'm with you on this one. Wally did not sit back on this one and it's not because he's so cautious about a #2 experienced back up. He's worried about that shoulder.
  12. Overpaying? What rounds are you talking about here. They wanted the guy and had to move up to get him. Give Walters a break! In fairness, overpaying was in quotes If they had him higher on their charts, the actual pick # doesn't matter (ie whatever # they had Briggs at, that's kind of the pick they traded for, ya know?). I see that trading up for Walter's pick is being "questioned" so I have to ask…if that's the guy they wanted, isn't that worth the value of two questionable picks later on, especially in a thinner draft year? I also wonder that the Bombers sometimes get chastised for not making any moves and then, when they do…..
  13. Unfortunately the CFLPA is in a league where a tough stance only works when you are actually playing. The Amer/Can. ratio thing is huge and although most Amer. theoretically support standing up for their rights…I just don't see them translating that theory into a strike vote. Everybody emotionally backs the players because we know they absolutely deserve more, but…they are up against the card holders in this one. The league proposal thus far is at the absolute lowest end of the scale and a total insult at this stage of the game. I don't like these stupid negotiation ploys. I'd rather see the respect being mutual. Too bad. Strike? Cancelled games? Absolutely nothing good can come of this, even if the League "wins" Two and a half weeks for the boys to get serious. I don't want to wait any longer for the season. GET ER DONE!
  14. When Winnipeg contacted MB, he was scouting Amer. training camps to look for ways to improve what he knows about offences. I find that encouraging. Obviously, he couldn't incorporate that last year but I have my fingers crossed that he hasn't reached gap stuffers in his search for a better system. A good offence is a beautiful thing in the CFL…I want one.
  15. ………………………..Just the facts
  16. Well if a good mechanic needs tools, then they might just be getting the right guy. Seriously, I'm for anybody who can fit in whatever system our OC or DC wants to employ. Good results are what the fans want, Im not too particular at this point, how we get them.
  17. Phaneuf is not a phit for this team. Period.
  18. Well we hope we do. What harm is there in determining that after training camp? This team is not so stacked in NIs with experience to just cut guys willy nilly. I hear you. i can only assume that there are moves afoot that limit the number of players that we can keep around. That doesn't explain why a couple of people are still on our roster, so it goes back to the reasoning that they are not at all impressed with the skills of this Muamba. I was never impressed with Cauchy while he was with BC, so I wasn't excited with his being here, other than the NI fact and the Henoc connection.
  19. They do have somebody better than Cauchy….in Alexander. Cauchy had 2-3 years to prove his abilities, and his abilities don't match his contract. I'm not so sure he could stay on a roster even at minimum salary.
  20. Did not know that the Bombers did not offset any costs to Winnipeg Transit in the past, only last year were they put in a position where they had to pay a subsidy. - Wade Miller explained the reasons for the 2.9 million number, not higher because of Moving costs, transit overages and severances (no more on the books) - They have 1 million in reserve and still plan on making payments. (that's what he said) - they will concentrate on football operations - premium seating will offset less seating (they took out some seats for premier seating) - they will allow people to go in and out of the stadium before the start of the games. - *CJOB audio on demand May 12 9 AM
  21. Not to get to training camp….tells us a lot.
  22. There is no frickin uniform that is better than ours.
  23. There's only one Bauer who gets to live another day…..
