  1. …..Even Charles Adler (CJOB) hopped aboard and started to whipsaw Miller … ….You realize that Charles Adler is not a model example for your argument, don't you? ….However, it suddenly stopped, apparently at the same time Bob Irving walked into Adler's studio and told him to cease lambasting Miller - Adler getting the hush signal from Irving. Irving taking orders from Bomber control. ….That's pure conjecture on your part, well..conjecture anyway. …..Here's whats important. A poorly designed economy stadium has suffered some damage. Bomber management is defensive(?) A real public relations pro gets in front of small disasters and does it via magic formulas and alchemy also known as - THE TRUTH.... Nobody would begrudge Miller for letting in a few cameras and reporters with hard-hats for a quick survey of the damage scene. The money required to fix the problem is unimportant. The fix is all-important. I think Friesen, Kives and the rest of the media would be better served investigating fully why the stadium construction went sour, when it went sour, who's gonna pay for upgrades and what other maladies will pop up as time goes by. Blaming the sidemen accomplishes nothing! …..Now that makes a little more sense.
  2. It is only your opinion and Friesen's spin that Miller handled it incorrectly. Nobody else is fingering Miller..why is that? It's a crock if you think that Miller should have given in to blackmail…."show me or else."
  3. No, you come on. This time, he relates just the story. That shows me you didn't read the article I'm talking about. Here: .http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/Melting-snow-damages-new-stadium-254417861.html Far different take than Friesen.
  4. Linking good press and bad press is being poorly compared on here. There are ways to get the story out there without alienating the very people you deal with. For example, read the same story put forward by Barley Kives. He gives the same information without the digs at the Bomber mgmt. The story is valid. The approach by Friesen in telling the story actually defects from the story and tries to shift blame to Miller in how he handled the queries. Make no mistake, those are two different issues. Kives addressed the issue, not the messenger, and got the story out in a much more informed manner. No mention of Miller, and there didn't have to be…he isn't the story. People who are trying to tag Miller and the Bombers with Friesen's approach got pulled in by Friesen and that's just what he wanted. They are only part of the group overseeing this. Deal with the story..not the messengers.
  5. The RedBlacks held their 1st day of min camp today in Virginia. Anybody know why Kevin Glenn wasn't there? It was history. For the first time, the Ottawa RedBlacks stepped onto the field as a team Wednesday at Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center in Richmond, Va. Most of the team's players were there — among the absent was QB Kevin Glenn. http://live.ottawasun.com/Event/RedBlacks_hit_the_field_in_Virginia
  6. You only have to look at the article written by Bartley Kives in the Free Press to see how this 'leak' story should have been written. There is no mention of Miller and no turning of phrases painting the spokesman as the villain. No chastising…no throwing out meaningless numbers on how much it will cost to fix the problem….just the story. Just compare the two stories and you'll see why there is a Prestone-type disdain when it comes to Friesen. Should the Bombers foster better relations with the media? Sure, but only when the pen doesn't come poisoned to begin with. The Winnipeg Football Club says water has damaged suites and the visitor’s dressing room at the city’s new football stadium, which opened at the University of Manitoba’s campus last spring. A spokesperson for the club declined to describe the extent of the damage and also declined requests to see the interior of the structure. The club deferred all further comment to BBB Stadium, the non-profit entity responsible for building Investors Group Field, whose stakeholders are the Bombers, the city, the province and the University of Manitoba. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/Melting-snow-damages-new-stadium-254417861.html
  7. What's sad is you admitting all the wrong things that a man can be and yet you would still re-visit time with same said poor choice.
  8. I'm very much against trading future 1st round draft picks. That road leads to exactly where we don't want to go…again.
  9. For me, politicians and politics is a matter of who I trust the least…and who does the least damage in the long haul, because they're virtually all the same. I would prefer honesty and stream-lined government…so that leaves Harper out of the picture. He's far below the least line, a highly un-trustable man. So there! Politicians….pfffftt.
  10. …Nobody knows for sure, but we know he has access to the internet…and really likes blackberries.
  11. Didn't say believe Friesen, I said believe IN Friesen. Certainly, there is some validity to the story, but it's Miller's job to control the situation and he gets no co-operation from the bad-hair guy. And...I just don't trust Friesen in reporting how the conversation went down. He, in his phrasing in the article, is not trying to foster a better relationship between himself and the Blue, especially Miller, but through the piece, people see Miller as the bad guy and Friesen as the defender of the common citizen. That, in itself, is a lark.
  12. Why do people feel the need to believe in Friesen, and make him out to be the proponent of Winnipeg's taxpayers and, by only Friesen's story, Miller is evil, completely wrong and a lying S-O-B?
  13. And that reeks of...let us in or else. A decent media writer would seek to find a middle ground with the person in charge, perhaps not to write it at this time (as requested) and compromise for a later date. You see how that works?..in the two-way street scenario? Which brings us back to why the source sought out Friesen in the first place? Kirk Penton or Ed Tait would have been more credible avenues, don't you think?
  14. The point of no entry to media until legal issues are covered is a valid one. And Friesen? Frothing at the mouth to hang one on the Bombers is just what he wanted after hibernating this off season. It's typical of Friesen and he should share the blame for the road blocks on what should be a two way informational street.
  15. Are you kidding? Kesler, at this point, is the much better player and team component. Kessler might be the more important piece of a larger team puzzle. Kane is the talented player. Kane gives the Canucks a franchise player to build around for 15 years. Kessler doesnt (and they tried to trade him already). Age, contract, talent make Kane the more valuable commodity. Even if things were equal, you dont trade a 22 year old with a good four year contract for a 29 year old with half as much time left. There's one BIG consideration you haven't mentioned…Kesler is proven. There is no indication that any team can build around Kane at this point, for any amount of time. I love what Kane can potentially bring to a team, but potential has killed a lot of careers. Kane isn't there yet.
  16. Are you kidding? Kesler, at this point, is the much better player and team component.
  17. I'm not a believer in Gillis, but even he wouldn't make anything close to that trade. I don't think Kesler alone for Kane, Burmi, Postma/Redmond would cut it.
  18. I'd prefer to refer to Chipman and Cheveldayoff as patient men. I have the utmost respect for Mark Chipman in the fact that he has been patient and the fact he brought back the Jets in the proper manner..when all the pieces were in place. Even in the naming of the team…they went about the right way and got that right. My point being, to lump both men together in the same corner as men of inaction is inaccurate. This version of the Jets is not close to being what can be called the Winnipeg Jets…too many Thrasher decisions still affecting the team. But they are getting closer. I suspect Chipman and his hockey man, Cheveldayoff, have a plan in place, and the needs and the wants will come about when the time is right..not at the hue and cry of the average fan. Circumstances may precipitate bolder moves, but it won't mean giving away, say two starting goaltenders…for wrapping paper.
  19. Alright, it's settled then..the Nuclear sites get built in Calgary! The only really confusing part about this whole "debate" is that someone nicknamed Atomic is voting against it!!
  20. Ah….Knic isn't much better.
  21. I don't think many are thinking Kane is a bust. But something is different. Sitting apart on the bench recently, a healthy game day scratch when Maurice states they are going to play their best line up. There's something going on involving Kane. I was averse to trading him but now I'm beginning to think that they will, at least, look seriously into trading him. His time is not up as a player, but maybe it is as a Jet.
  22. Any truth to the rumour that Kane threw about a hundred punches, but only landed a couple?
  23. That's the beauty about being young and foolish…there's room for improvement. Why can't Kane fit into those skates?
  24. How can you possibly put Curt Kielback's "and Essensa-the-save" in the bad category? But, at least you got Khabibulin right.
