The point I was making with Glenn, was not that he wouldn't accept the back up role like he had in Calgary, as that would be the Bombers position for him here I would think, but rather how well would Glenn accept the fact of returning to Winnipeg, the place where he got booed and summarily dismissed before getting that roster bonus. And as far as likely choice, of course Desjardins has the say where Glenn will be shipped to, but don't gloss over the fact that BC only has Joey Elliott (a player who was already cut by them) backing up T Lulay and both BC and Glenn would like it if he was shipped there. Had I said destination instead of choice, would that have made it easier? Both teams are eyeing Glenn as their back up but when push comes shove, which team is in the better position to offer something of value? the Bombers or the Lions?

Please believe it. (Our new slogan.)

D Brown states that "Glenn is as good as the team and scheme around him, and at this point, no one is expecting the 2014 Bombers to be as good as either of the last two Stampeder teams Glenn has played for." It's hard to argue with that. He also states "At their current level of development, Kevin Glenn is an upgrade over every single quarterback on the Winnipeg Blue Bomber roster, but he is not the pivot this team should move forward with." The important part of that last statement is the 2nd half and where some posters are torn. Message - get Glenn, cheap, install as 2nd string, move forward. Would Glenn accept that? Battling with BC to get him - 2 way walking race but we never seem to win interest-between-two-teams battles, with an extra caveat. Glenn's history here. So….where's the likely choice for Glenn? Obviously there's a level of interest in acquiring Glenn, from sea level up to west coast mountain level but the prairie level of interest at IGF is what counts, and from what I can gather, the interest remains at Glenn as a back up to Willy, the pivot we should be moving forward with.

Great Bombers article from Gary Lawless today
Mr Dee replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Lawless is a loser? Lead reporter in Winnipeg. Lead sports guy for lead newspaper Lead sports guy for only 24 hour sports radio station. featured on TSN Jets and TSN broadcasts. If by lead you mean the chemical element, whereby, lead reporter means he's capable of "killing" a story with the angle he chooses to write, then I would agree with your point. The fact is, in an analogy, that if Lawless were our starting or 'lead' QB, we would not settle for this mediocrity, but rather would demand a change. He is the Steven Jyles of writers, when we really want the Tom Clements or Khari Jones. Just because he "is" where he is doesn't mean he should be. -
Great Bombers article from Gary Lawless today
Mr Dee replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Each article that Lawless writes should be taken separately and analyzed accordingly. We have learned from his writings in the past that he is not to be trusted beyond the words he writes at that time. As ArmchairGM points out, the salary aspect of the budget probably didn't go down as written, but we get the idea that the football ops budget did go up. That's how Lawless writes, which is what 17 said. But he likes Walters, at least for now, and we don't have to put up with his slights, both real or imagined, maybe even until the season starts. -

Great Bombers article from Gary Lawless today
Mr Dee replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
This article is a good recap of what has happened in the last little while and a fairly balanced synopsis of what has occurred over the last year or so. Garth Buchko inexperienced…yes Joe Mack stubborn and one-sided…admittedly. Weak organization in terms of the football side of operations…embarrassingly so. All these things are being corrected and we've seen an overhaul both in thinking and in practice…and that has led us to "catching up with other teams in the CFL." Well, that's something anyway. Everybody didn't know what to expect months ago when Walters and the little bulldog Miller were named to lead the Bombers. Well, we have a better indication of that now and as Lawless says the team's brass knows a lot about Canadian football, and at least for that, we can get a little excited. It's a decent article from Lawless. -

Well, at least they talked for one day…. CFL CBA talks break down: Two days of CBA negotiations scheduled in Calgary made it through one day, but apparently that was enough for both the CFLPA and owners, as talks scheduled for Friday were cancelled, with one source saying the sides were “too far apart.” It’s not known how long the parties met for on Thursday at the Delta Calgary Airport Hotel, but apparently it was long enough to decide it wasn’t worth a second day of dialogue. CFL president and COO Michael Copeland issued a statement Friday afternoon. “We don’t comment on ongoing collective bargaining negotiations but we remain focused on reaching a new agreement that is fair and reasonable for our teams and players,” Copeland said in an e-mail. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/2014/03/07/21520136.html

Might as well ask for the Warren part also, because they've already asked for the MOON.

The question will be whether he makes it out of the Rookie Mini-Camp and gets an invite to the Main Camp. I believe the Rookie MC is in Florida?
-
Well that certainly helps explain the Boltus hiring, and, why Boltus thought he could just throw the ball anywhere close to a receiver and believe the receiver would come up with it. Problem was, he didn't get the ball anywhere near enough to a receiver, and we had no one on our roster named Dirt, who seemed to be Boltus's favourite target.

7am WBB FC Announcement -- Buck Pierce New RBs Coach
Mr Dee replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Cheers to the Bombers for getting this done and in a timely fashion. I still believe that most fans wanted to cheer for Buck, but, circumstances prevented that from happening. This audible corrects that. And as far as RB coach? Why not?, I've certainly seen Buck had plenty of experience at running. -
Good, now he can get back into polling….where he obviously belongs.

I want to talk about something that really grinds my gears
Mr Dee replied to Mike's topic in General Discussion
From an article called: How Subway Went To **** "As you can see from above, the wedge design was unique and overall a very good way to cut a bread into "halves". It allowed for optimal sandwich eating potential and from what I remember, kept the sh*it in the sandwich. We'll call it a sub canyon." http://www.retrojunk.com/article/show/4010/how-subway-went-to-**** -
Kevin Glenn's world has certainly taken a complete upheaval since Marcel Desjardins kicked him in the mini-Glenns. He had a starting role and the entire spotlight in Ottawa, finally, long after walking out of here when he was…. handled infernally by Mike Kelly. Now he has to 'ask' for a trade and that, certainly, will result in him be relegated back to backup. I'm currently ambivalent on his coming here, but I know I would be angry if we had to give up anything of excessive value. So far, I think Walters and company have handled the Kevin Glenn situation, right from the start, in a patient and professional manner. Here's hoping that they keep that up.

Drew Willy one of fastest passes at NFL combine
Mr Dee replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
That's actually exactly what we have in our QB's. None of them have done anything yet. Which, oddly enough, is a step up from where we've been. -
In the West, only Sask. will not open that envelope. I'd be mildly surprised if we're still in the running after BC takes a look.

What if Tim Burke had come back as DC?

Bombers trade for QB Brian Brohm; cut Justin Goltz
Mr Dee replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I don't think that's what he meant by strong arming the opponents. -
Why no threads created about the signing last week then? I just didn't really get around to it. Ok Colin LOL Just been working on plugging the Twitter account lately more than posting here. We realize it takes time to clean your stained fingers after testing copious amounts of those nasty BBQ chips.

The mastery of Marcel Desjardins continues...
Mr Dee replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Two completely different situations and histories. The CFL situation and the ownership situation in Ottawa gives them at least a fighting chance this time round. Now, if only they had gotten the damn name right….. -
Buck Pierce set to announce retirement today
Mr Dee replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Try and separate Buck the person, from the player, and what he had to go through on our team and under our system. Many, on this board, did not want Buck gone for any other reason than...the circumstances that he had to play under. Buck would be welcome, in a intern-like position, and would be a fine rep. for the Blue Bombers, or any organization that he may represent. He does not represent failure but rather the attitude to give your all in whatever you attempt to do. That's what he should be held accountable for. -
Luongo traded to Florida for two nobodies
Mr Dee replied to kelownabomberfan's topic in General Discussion
Well, Luongo and his contract did have to go…so there's that. Now if they could figure out how to trade Gillis….
