I want to talk about something that really grinds my gears

Ranks right up there with not enough raisins in Raisin Brand and the lack of cashews in mixed nuts. -

Did you try eating half from the box and half from the bag? Whoops, I guess it's not wise to try anything half-in-the-bag. -
Buck Pierce set to announce retirement today
Mr Dee replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Absolutely the best decision he could make. It would be fantastic, for the Bombers, to give us the opportunity to cheer for Buck, like many of us really wanted to. -

Losing out on Burris means I would have had to have been a Burris fan, which I'm not. A QB fan, yes. Willy, Collaros were my choices and Burris, because, yes, we needed a QB I guess you can say Burris is an upgrade over Glenn, but that's not really the point, unless you're from the Desjardins school of GM'ing. He's not that much better, alone, to make them more competitive right now as you both are saying. And that salary would have paid for FAs that were signed after Ottawa committed to Burris. Watkins, Butler, Moore, Koch, Mitchell, Sanders, Newman and others were available. Glenn and probably 2 from the above list would have made them a more competitive team at this time. But hey, that's just me. -

Seeing as they're not going to win it all in the next little while and seeing as they already had a capable QB to play while they developed another one, it made no sense to throw that kind of money at a 39 yr. old QB. Far better to spread that money over 2 or even 3 FAs that could have helped their team more than the marginal difference between Henry and Kevin, IMO. -
Some workout camp news comes trickling in…. "The Sting hosted the national scout for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League, Drew Morris, on Saturday, March 1 for a private workout with several of Saginaw’s standout players." "And the talent evaluator came away pleasantly surprised." **http://www.mlive.com/sports/saginaw/index.ssf/2014/03/saginaw_sting_receivers_austin.html ** granqueso @ EP

We extend an invitation to you Brandon, to participate in this year's training camp, starting Sunday June 1st. Sincerely, Mike O'Shea - Head Coach Marcel Bellefeuille - Offensive Coordinator Markus Howell - Wide Receivers Coach Gene Dahlquist - Quarterbacks Coach Gary Etcheverry - Defensive Coordinator Nelson Martin - Defensive Backs Coach Mike Scheper - Defensive Line Coach Pat Tracey - Special Teams Coordinator -
My bet is they are waiting for the mini-camp where Dahlquist can get a look at Hall and Goltz and then decide. As to who's more ripped?

You'll have to leave Jason Boltus out of the conversation. Apparently, he signed with the AFL Orlando Predators. So, out of the million players that could play in the CFL, that leaves 999,999, which is better anyways, because it's more easily divisible by 9.

Morris is the one who instigated the change.

John Morris is skipping the BC team, but Jim Cotter is throwing 4th rocks. In my view playing with Kevin Martin has helped J. Morris immensely. He no longer is that immature pup who breaks brooms. He has learned a lot and fits in well with the Jim Cotter rink. They should do well and are capable of going a long way.

After watching many CBAs being worked out between the Union and the League, always, it seemed, the players had to be the ones who 'accepted' the terms as necessitated by league finances. This time around, it should be the players who benefit. Let's all hope this can be done with mutual sharing and the game's best interest in mind.

A Look at the Blue Bombers Defensive Line

Yes, thank you guys for those detailed explanations, but you'll have to excuse me…the gap between my understanding and your explanations is too wide. Do you have anything to explain gorges? -
Three of Canada's top teams are not represented: The Olympic Champs, Team Jacobs will not represent NO, which means N. Ont. will be in very tough this year. Team Martin, always a favourite, was beaten by Team Koe in a very good Alta showdown. Team Howard lost a very tough final game when his last stone in the final 'picked' and ended up rubbing a guard, thus eliminating a sure game-winning shot. Team Stoughton have flipped their front end players, with Mark Nichols now playing 2nd…a good move in my opinion. The only odds I could find were provided by Jim Bender…so take them with a grain of doubt, although they are in the ballpark. 1. Jeff Stoughton, Manitoba (2-1) … 11th trip, one of the top 4 teams 2. John Morris, B.C. (4-1) … 4th appearnace for Jim Cotter's team…1st with John Morris skipping. 3. Kevin Koe, Alberta (7-1) … only the 3rd appearance for Koe…but he always had K. Martin to contend with. 4. Brad Gushue, Newfoundland (10-1) …11th trip, former Olympic Champ…good young team. 7. Jean-Michel Menard, Quebec (25-1) … 8th appearance, in my top 5. 5. Steve Laycock, Saskatchewan (15-1) …4th time representing Sask….who haven't won since 1980 6. Jamie Koe, Yukon/NWT (20-1) … 8th trip, always improving, but not in my top 5 8. Greg Balsdon, Ontario (35-1) … gave Howard a run, but was very lucky to advance 9. James Grattan, New Brunswick (50-1) …11th trip, but not always as skip. 10. Eddie MacKenzie, P.E.I. (60-1) … 4th trip 11. Jamie Murphy, Nova Scotia (75-1) …2nd trip 12. Jeff Currie, Northern Ontario (90-1) …will only be there for an experience.

"Liam on me when you're not strong"….. you just call on me brother, when you need a set of hands... "We all need somebody to Liam on" With apologies to Bill Withers -
This would be baby number four, I believe. Heh, heh, I was thinking more along the lines of timing.

Eskimos release Alexander (Now Signed with the Bombers)

It's not the 1st time Buck's leadership has led us astray. -

I didn't see any problems in Suber's game when he lines up with, oh , say Jamel Richardson, a bigger, stronger receiver, who absolutely would get frustrated facing Suber.

A Look at the Blue Bombers Defensive Line
Mr Dee replied to JuranBoldenRules's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Gill is a tempting fruit, ready to be plucked from the draft tree and would certainly fill a need or change the need at that position, but can we afford it? The centre O-Line positions beckons…doesn't it? -
Well we could try to block him from seeing this but he might not recognize the concept.
-
So, the term, two and out, is not football specific?
-
The release of Shannon Boatman is a small benchmark for the progress we are making on the O-Line. To consider any improvement up front, he could not be part of the solution. We have just improved.
-
Yeah! No one likes having good players starting for us. Well Mack never liked to have good players starting for us.... Do you really want to go with that statement?
-
Miller said we wouldn't recognize the roster from the one that ended the year. He did not say it would be through Free Agency. Walter's said we would look at Free Agency and try to make some moves there if it made sense….if it made sense. We've dropped over 20 players from last year's roster, including several starters, and we've made more moves in Free Agency than in years, but there was a lot to address, and we weren't going to do it all through Free Agency, so I don't blame the Bombers for not getting everybody they wanted, but I will give them credit for trying, and for offering at least the going rate, and more, for these guys. Butler, Bourke, were never coming here. And think about Laurent. Where do you think his preferences are? And a big fat no to Arland Bruce, thank you.
