Anybody who calls the majority of our team garbage and unilaterally states nobody wants to come here, without any proof, and dismisses our OC and our yet unnamed DC, can be regarded as having a defeatist attitude even if you believe you're being realistic. I see nothing positive in your ENTIRE postings. And of course we'll have to earn respect, but you're severely undervaluing the recent personnel that has been hired. Maybe waiting until the entire staff has been hired and free agency has arrived and draft day has breezed by before we start hanging low.

Bombers hire Queens DC Pat Tracey as Special Teams Coordinator
Mr Dee replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
There are other fan boards and at least one of them has mentioned it, but loath am I to give it any credence because, as I said, they are only rumours, no source. -
That's quite the defeatist attitude….something I'm sure O'Shea does not share.

Bombers hire Queens DC Pat Tracey as Special Teams Coordinator
Mr Dee replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
That's the thing, there is no source, they're only rumours. Rumours that insinuate Austin is willing to go into a season with no veteran QBs in his QB arsenal. And admitting that the QBs he does have, Masoli, Brohm , LeFevour, & McGee can't be as good as another non-vetaran (Collaros). Burris did a lot to advance the cause of the Ti-Cats. The question would be…does Austin have the belief they could get as far without him? -

ARASH MADANI JANUARY 8, 2014, 1:13 PM Just days after Jonathan Martin walked out on the Miami Dolphins, amidst allegations of bullying inside the organizations walls, the B.C. Lions added the offensive lineman to the team’s confidential negotiation list, sources told Sportsnet.

You're far undervaluing the the roster in its entirety, both in some of the starters and in role playing special-teamers. Any roster in the CFL has both its stars and its depth, but if you think each team wouldn't be grabbing more off our roster, you're not doing your homework in regards to the value of any roster in the CFL.

A pass interference call is a matter of instantaneous moment of interpretation: A saxophonist………………..or girl? Profile image.…...…..……..or Liar?
-
Let's face it, interference by a defender is going to happen, it's in the nature of playing this game, and it absolutely has to be called. Streamlining the definition will help. Better training for refs will help. (both physically and mentally) Defined video review would help. Even in the NFL, there is extreme difficulty in agreeing and calling interference unilaterally, and they have the best refs, usually in the best position. Human frailties will prevail in split second decisions and for that, they can't always be faulted.

Here, specifically, is the wording Johnson used in the article and is easy to agree with. Note the key word that is bolded in this paragraph: First, once the standards are agreed upon, it is incumbent on the league office to make sure everyone is, as he put it, "speaking the same language." In other words, to be consistent there has to be consistency in the message. Johnson stated, "the language used to instruct our officials has to be the same language we use when explaining those rules to coaches, players and the fans of the game." Johnson, who has spent the last twenty-seven years as a technology executive, also thinks that the league can continue to use technology not only as a teaching tool but also as a way of communicating with fans, and would like to see greater transparency in the process. Johnson explained, "if we are all speaking the same language, then there will be an overall better understanding as to how rules are assessed and applied." Striving for, and achieving consistency, is subject to human failure. That is where the question of challenges and replays comes into question adding yet another layer to coaching decisions. We, as fans, have to decide if it's worth it, and on the surface, if this new thinking cuts down on mistakes in interpretation at least once a game, then it must be considered worth it. At least Johnson recognizes a grey area and is open to change.

Super-duper good reason for not announcing the DC….. …we just don't know it yet.

Arash Madani @ArashMadani 23m Am told former #Argos WR Dontrelle Inman has signed with the San Diego Chargers. Inman got his #CFL release last month to pursue a NFL shot. *Significant to Inman signing with the Chargers: He did receive a signing bonus. Vested interest for SD to give him a fair look

I'm going to have to agree with this despite some reservations. It's interesting to see Walker step up and say that…would be nice hear more players' opinions.

I'll never believe good coaching doesn't have a tremendous effect on players whether they're borderline or talented. Of course the more talented a team, the further that team goes----unless they have poor coaching and visa versa, a poor team can be coached to at least acceptable levels. You need all the levels to be successful, especially at QB….but without that coach….mediocrity prevails.

TSN reports: Will they allow coach's challenges for pass interference calls? Johnson understands the frustration when it comes to this penalty and isn't making any guarantees that drastic changes are on their way, but said that on the agenda is, "how we get better at that rule." Johnson wanted to emphasis that he is still moving into his new office and his game plan is in the first draft stage, but immediately stated that, "there are three areas that I would like to work on." He also wanted to make it clear off the top that all discussions would of course include the CFL Officials Association, the CFL Players Association, and the board of governors, because changes cannot be made without their input and cooperation. 1) "The language used to instruct our officials has to be the same language we use when explaining those rules to coaches, players and the fans of the game." 2) The second item on the agenda for Johnson is to look at ways to expand replay. 3) He referenced again the fact that professional football is a performance based business for everyone involved including the officials, and wants to make his third priority making sure that week in and week out the best refs available are on the field. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=440553

Bombers hire Queens DC Pat Tracey as Special Teams Coordinator
Mr Dee replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's not so much for me that he is so CIS, but more so, of his work ethic, and the fact that O'Shea-Wan-Kenobi endorses him so highly. Just think, a guy we respect mightily (O'Shea), hires someone he respects mightily. Gotta be good news. -

I like the reasoning behind this hiring….very much so. -
That's one for, and one angst. ***** Also: Arash Madani @ArashMadani2h If you're watching tonight's national championship game, a quick nugget: The #CFL rights to Auburn QB Nick Marshall belong to the #Eskimos.

...With millions of people around the world coming back to work on Jan. 6, various web analytics and social media statistics showed that Jan. 6 is the most depressing day of 2014. http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/533002/20140106/january-6-2014-depressing-day.htm#.UssU7v2evwI

CFL trade - Calgary & Hamilton, To Calgary - Simon Charbonneau. To Hamilton - Spencer Armstrong. The Ottawa Redblacks have signed former Ticats kicker Nick Setta. Former HC Tim Burke finished just out of the running in Coach of the Year news, finishing in 9th place behind Glen Constantin of LavaL

Easy now iso, take a breath. I know what you mean though. Last weekend I made the mistake of watching it live. Painful. This weekend I PVR'd all 4 games and enjoyed them very much more as I zipped through the commercials. Wendy can now hop in that Mazda and drive to a McDonald's in Alberta for all I care.

Nah, I'm sick of that.

Based on what you guys are saying in regards to our receivers, that is one argument in favour of MB as our OC. Somebody has to be a position to know if it was just our system, our QBs, the receivers themselves or a combination. To an outsider it did look like we only had a base offence and QBs who couldn't perform. How much of it was incorrect reads by the QBs or receivers, only the OC would know. Pretty frustrating for the fans not to know why receivers or other players are being ignored.

The guy has never dressed for a CFL game in 3 years since being drafted... Not sure missing out on him is a big deal I want to know how talking about Jarious Jackson morphed into debating whether or not a hair clasp was ever a good QB coach?
