HC O'Shea and Bellefeuille on OC announcement: http://www.bluebombers.com/video/index/id/93949?autostart=true Some points: - O'Shea liked that, in the interview, he noticed MB and he shared the same ideas and concepts on how an Offence should be run. - And the way football should be played Mike: "it's like he read my notes" - MO' expects completely different results from the O after TC and with new players. - Marcel was interested in coming back to Wpg. - the fans, the experience and Mike O'Shea being named HC - Mike was impressed on how MB handled last year's tough situation the fact MB has HC experience and that they connected whenever they would talk football. - DC search is ongoing but OC was a priority due to the numbers of teams looking for one. - OC support staff will be hired through back and forth talks between MB and MO on how they want the Offence to go. - The offence will be an overhaul on last year's for sure. They have about 20% installed already. There will be new ideas based on what MB has learned over the last year and a half and will be flexible to who they pick up.

Nichols still has some to prove before I would consider him starter material. Spot duty over a season ago isn't enough at this point. Same with Drew Willy. Nichols has the injury factor now hanging over him... Like Buck. Buck is 20 times worse than Nichols. That's pretty extreme. Spelling isn't my strong soot.

That about says it all, KBF. Short and to the point. You've never been so concise.

I guess we all have our own opinion on this Goltz matter. Just going by his nature and iron-fist approach, I'm voting it was Burke who denied Goltz any further playing time. It's a juvenile approach to coaching but that seemed to be in his character. After all, he made such a big deal of Goltz's tie and cuff-links routine. And as to cutting him, they couldn't cut their only other experienced guy. And Boltus? Good gawd, I guess it was MB who would tried him out and stuck with him, but if he can't see by now, that that is a loss of downs right there, well…. I think we were stuck with Boltus seeing as Goltz wasn't an option. I just can't see any of our QBs here in TC, except Hall, providing of course, that we do get a starter. Even then…

I don't derive any confidence in the fact that on the day Bellefeuille is announced, they specifically announce the signing of a punter…. But as others have mentioned, he's now the OC, and I'll support him 'til he gives me reason not to. And it's a clean slate from this day on. Let's not forget who Marcel has to answer to….O'Shea, that alone should make a difference. As to who wasn't hired, who for sure, and why? The only question I would ask is why people assume it's the candidates who weren't impressed, maybe it was O'Shea who wasn't impressed. Matthew Scianitti @TSNScianitti7h Was interviewed last Sunday and new regime was impressed RT @garylawless: can tell you #bombers will retain Marcel Bellefeuille as OC #cfl Oh, and Denmark will be happy.

Don't think of it as why we didn't protect Kohlert (FA). Think of it more as…. if they didn't figure it would be Kohlert because he was a FA, who do we now still have, did they expect to lose?
-
Actually, if that's the case, that's the perfect way to expose somebody, knowing what the situation is. By protecting him, they would have exposed someone else….maybe somebody they didn't know what the situation would be. If true, it's the smart thing to have done.
-
Let's put it this way, I don't like the rumour, but I'll treat it like a run up the middle where we get stuffed. Maybe there's still a play that will get us in a better position than MB would give us.
-
I'm not worried about these signings. They needed to get done. Morley, at least for vet. depth, and Renaud, the vet. punter. I still think Renaud can be better as a punter and maybe under the eye of O'Shea, he can step it up. He has got the leg, but does he have the savvy? We'll see. I'm a little confused about Morley. Looks lost sometimes but is graded well by the coaches. I'd like to see our O-Line get treated with the respect it deserves with a concentration towards improving it exponentially. Bring in the players and let them compete, hopefully under the watchful eye of a very good O-line coach.

Word of the day….stroll. Awfully close to another word I know.
-
The topic of protection (or lack of same) will never be as important to Bomber fans, after what happened to LaBatte.

As prepared as they look for these announcements, are we sure Burke didn't go to Ottawa?
-
Ottawa expansion draft……No wonder there was no drum roll.
-
OK, I officially dislike Ottawa, right off the bat.
-
Mack did not ignore the draft. You may not agree with some of the choices he made but his record with the draft is as good as any other GM during the time he was here. You're right of course, and when I was drafting the post, I told myself not to pick that particular item(# ii on the board)...( I was going to go off the board). But in the end, I ignored my own advice. I feel bad now.

From my experience, some gardens are hard to work with.

Crowton's offence and scout team analysis aside, let's not forget the fact we had no QB. So, in terms of the perfect storm scenario, where you couldn't put events in a worse position, you had the season we had. -Start with the hiring of a Head Coach, Tim Burke, who at least should have been interviewed. It was apparent to other teams that Burke was not ready, but for fear of losing him, he was extended. -Because Burke was a fledgling HC, who actually thought Crowton could learn the CFL, he retained and listened to the musings of an American football mind. -Between Burke, Crowton and Mack, the 'Frankenstein" idea of developing an offence around Buck was born, and any experience behind him was purged. -Then you factor in Bluto's 4-point factors of building a roster, and you get what Mack did….ignoring three of the four ways to do so. -Training camp brought no answers, only more questions and Burke's idea of playing exhibition games was scary. (The one game with no veterans) -Factor in, of course, Buck was going to get injured, and no experience behind him, and no experience in what to do by the coaches, and it wasn't only the pooches who got screwed. I could go on about the Creehan factor and the deer-in-the-headlight style of offensive decisions, but you get the picture. Yes, it will be better if only Crowton's being gone is considered, but it so much more than that. *Oh, and did I mention that Burke was not a very good HC?

Well somebody else likes the way Walters' presser went: Matt Dunigan @MattDuniganTSN 5h Fantastic interview from Wpg's GM Kyle Walters re: Mondays Expansion Draft! http://ow.ly/rLXmj #goodstuff His fan-o-meter buzzed.
-
By that reasoning, no one would have interviewed here.

If we consider the moves by what was an interim GM, we can all agree that these were not moves made to awe the fan base but rather, taken as a whole, moves made to slightly turn the roster into more of a usable roster for the now and maybe for the future. To make it more NI friendly and deeper. No where near "for sure" starters but better replacements, as it were. Parenteau to replace Woodson. Foster (NI) to displace Pierce. Neufeld as a move to gain something from losing Hall and just maybe a solid roster player. Fans were actually shocked to see trades. Then, some scouting additions were made and seemingly, good ones. A dynamic Head Coach is hired. A plan is being followed. All these moves made the fan-o-meter fluctuate, mostly because GM moves have been rare. So, for now, give this dog a bone. No one is going to give out any awards yet, and it will be quite some time before we can figure out what the team is all about. But for now let the fan-o-meter dance. Lord knows it's been awhile since it's been used.
-
I don't know if we have to be impressed by these moves. Don't forget, the players we did pick up were targeted by Walters and DiCroce was left off our protected list. There are reasons for these decisions, wouldn't you agree?

Farhan Lalji @FarhanLaljiTSN27m Rich Stubler met with Mike O'Shea Thurs & is leaning to the #Bombers DC job. But its not done yet. Stubler will meet with #Stamps on Tues Stamn Damps, messing with our guy.

Except if Walters gets angry he'll be shielded from the cameras on the sidelines unlike Berry was. That's what turned a lot of fans against Doug. He was explosive on the bench. Got tired of seeing that constantly from a HC. Coach the players up not to make mistakes. Don't ratch out all the time. Yeah, watching Berry lose his cool was uncomfortable to watch, especially when it looked like the person he was "coaching" was actually being bullied. It would have been more interesting to see Berry try that on, say, Chris Walby. But I don't think you're going to see the same thing from watching a 'boiling' Walters. I think it's just his hair that gets messed up.

Bellefeuille was quoted as saying the Bombers were considering him for the position. Consider me this…no to OC, but OK for receivers coach/standby guy with the cool demeanour.
