The furthest I'm willing to concede PDM's tenure on our staff is when our new HC makes his own decisions regarding the coaching staff. If, for whatever reasons, he believes PDM has a solid handle on teaching fundamentals for the O-line, I'll begrudgingly accept that decision. Until then, I won't concede he is doing a good job and I await his dismissal.
-
The whole thing is, how can we feel comfortable at all, with our coaching staff as to making the correct decision as who is or is not progressing. We've all seen other teams make changes on the fly and usually these changes result in better team play. I can't say I seen the same with our team. So how can we tell who on our team is doing well or not, when we can't trust who is teaching them?

I swear I read this in what you wrote: Wally habel the bjmkate on toddle bit od toddle what fo r a teregamnethon, blah blah blah etc.etc. guys permanent. Is that what you meant?
-
C'mon iso, let this one go. This is a different situation than many and whereby sometimes your scenario may play out, these guys are on the same page and aren't going to marry off someone's daughter without permission. What are you worried about? That they'll trade Etienne for Jabori Arthur or something? They don't have to be permanent to be effective, but if they're effective they may become permanent.

Unique situation.

There is a time factor. A very important time factor.

That's how I 'hear' it.

I read that whole interview and what I got was that Kyle Walters will definitely be part of the org. What I didn't get was that it would definitely be as GM. He's a keeper but I'm not sure he's got it yet. I think you need to read between the lines. Why is Miller so adamant on telling ticket holders that Walters will be here next year in some capacity? Does anyone, short of Walters himself, really care if he's around as a scout or A-GM or whatever? What fans care about is the next GM, followed by the next HC and starting QB. I think this is Millers way of "pre-selling" us on Walters being here in exactly the same role he is now. Otherwise he'd just say, "yeah. Walters is our guy til the end of the year, then we will do an exhaustive search for the next GM and see what transpires." Those two are pretty tight and the boys club mentality is starting to show. I don't like reading between the lines. Too much open to interpretation. And I don't see your 'boy's club' connection. But Walters has a head start. In a normal year, the GM would be hired as close to the end as possible. Not this year. Walters will get a head start for the dispersal draft, and that may be all it takes. What I've heard from Miller, about Walters, is consistent from day one in his insistence that he will be with the Org. And that very well could be as AGM or some other capacity. The message: he will be here. WIECEK: So Kyle doesn't have the GM job yet? MILLER: "No, but Kyle is going to be an integral part of this organization no matter what. And stability is part of what we need to create here -- that people know they're going to be a part of this football team and this community. And Kyle is both of those things. WIECEK: Is Kyle still in the running for the job? MILLER: Absolutely. Miller doesn't have to pre-sell Walters because all the work a GM will be doing at year's end will be done by Walters and because of this year's dispersal position by teams, Walters will definitely have a healthy head start on the the GM position To me what will really sell Walters to the fans will be his, and Miller's handling of the upcoming turmoil that is very much a unique situation for the Bombers. This will be their chance to get a QB, finally, and maybe manoeuvre through some trade mines to land a player or two. Or at least position themselves for the upcoming draft. No, Walters' GM future is still very much in question, but from what I can see, he doing the necessary homework, behind the scenes to at least warrant a very good look.

The article to read at this time is the Paul Wiecek interview with Wade Miller (also known as Wayne, right iso?) It's actual a decent interview where Miller only sidesteps one question (the financials) Notable quotations : "I'm fine with the title of acting. You know I have other business opportunities I could be doing. I chose to come take this on to help this franchise and be a part of turning this around. My most important thing is making that happen and sustaining it so we're developing something that isn't just for next year or the year after but is something that's here for 10 or 15 years." "My concern right now is doing what we need to do in the next month to six weeks because there's a lot that's going to happen unlike any other year." "There's going to be a lot of change, a lot of players moving to different teams. And it's an opportunity for us to take advantage of that. And we're very focused on that and have a very good plan of what we want to do." WIECEK: So Kyle doesn't have the GM job yet? MILLER: "No, but Kyle is going to be an integral part of this organization no matter what. And stability is part of what we need to create here -- that people know they're going to be a part of this football team and this community. And Kyle is both of those things. This makes me think Burke won't be back. Through the whole interview Miller doesn't hesitate to back the person he is being asked about. But not Burke. WIECEK: You've said you're going to make a lot of changes this off-season. Will Tim Burke get a chance to lead that new and improved team next year? MILLER: Everything is going to be reviewed. Coaches, players, the way we have everything structured -- it will all be reviewed.

Receiver? Can't give the one we have any playing time. Just bring up the best possible players for invites next year...under the new regime.

I hope you know that Foster is Canadian too, and your comment on Etienne is, as usual, a bust.

Would appreciate including the link next time. I did find the link and listened to Kyle Walters explain about the draft choices and yes I did have a little more appreciation for the homework he does regarding the players to be drafted. He seems to be in tune with what he sees in the future drafts and what he expects to get out of them. It not only makes me feel more comfortable with Kyle Walters but he impresses me in how he's handling this whole AGM situation. He should be a serious candidate for the GM opening. It also makes me wish our previous GM would have put more stock in what his asst. was telling him. Here's one link: OR go to TSN radio 1290 for the podcast https://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/tsn-1290-winnipeg-kyle-walters/id471359079?i=168981995&mt=2

Did you listen to the video?

It would be worthwhile for some to listen to Walters' presser on the trade that was made, and an all around talk of the draft and how teams are talking to him and talks are back on with Henoc's agent, etc. etc Walters: I'm quite confident that with our second round pick we would not have been able to get a player of Neufeld's quality.... this is around the 12:00 minute mark and should ease some angst among us. http://bluebombers.com/video/index/id/90791?autostart=true
-
Well, considering that the Bombers were tracking Neufeld back when he was a free agent candidate, I would have to assume it is about Neufeld. And you think the trade was an import with possibly 7 games left in his CFL career for a NI roster player who's signed for at least 36 games? No..it was the whole package. They gave up NI Neufeld and that's the reason for the upgrade in picks.
-
Damn straight iso, the chickens have come home to roost, and all the Mack fan boys are licking the egg off their faces poo pooing about 2nd round picks.....hilarious to see. What does that even mean?
-
Well it is kind of odd to be looking forward to the off season for something to be excited about.
-
Taking Neufeld for a second pick? Nope not a chance. The man is going to be a journeyman player. Someone who in 3 years probvably won't be starting & the Riders may have a player we could have used playing & starting on their roster. We panicked & made the trade. Like I said earlier, I'd have been okay with a one for one swap but we paid too high a price giving up our second round pick. If the Riders insisted on a draft pick, I'd have backed off. Maybe offered them Etienne or something. He's a bust. You've made two unsubstantiated statements in one paragraph. Firstly that Neufeld, at 24 yrs. old, will be a journeyman player. Quick, tell me how that second round pick is going to make out. Secondly, calling young Etienne a bust. I think you might say that particular pick was wasted, but to call a player who's still paying a bust, is still premature.
-
you can't do that because he's the key piece to this trade because he is the best player in the trade. Doesn't matter if he was gone anyway, the idea behind making those trades is to give something that may be gone and get something, we gave that plus something that could have been a long term solution in the draft pick. If the 2nd round pick and Neufeld have similar value then why did we include hall in the first place? Sorry people but Walters got schooled by a veteran GM on this trade. Taman gets a key piece for a grey cup try AND a pick to mitigate the loss of NI depth (someone that maybe he loses in the expansion draft anyway) Walters gets a player who may or may not be better than some of the guys on his team anyway.... trade for the sake of making a trade and he displayed poor asset management. He is the best player in the trade, no doubt, but you're overestimating his value to us and IMO to Sask. For us - no value as of Wed. Sask. might believe he'll be a key player to help them win the cup, but I don't. They have competent DEs right now and Hall can't play MLB. That is where they need a high impact player. Would they have made a better offer as of Wed.? I don't believe they would have. You're stuck on Hall's abilities, which are great, but have no value to us anymore. That is why I say to take Hall out of the equation.
-
Take Hall out of the equation for a minute. It's our second pick in 2014 for Neufeld and their pick in 2015. Should we do that deal? I would say so. Trade deadline is Wed. Hall would have no trade value for us as of then. This reminds me of another GM who traded a body before Free Agency last Jan. 29 to get something of value. Sask. benefits, but so do we.
-
Kirk Penton @PentonKirk55m The kicker is the #Bombers can re-sign Hall if he doesn't get an NFL sniff. What's the problem?

But not to us. And we were going to lose Hall, so it's all good. And since when did any team's fan base not downgrade a player they just traded?
-
Hall's well that ends well I guess.
