We saw right off the bat that whatever game plan Coach Creehan had for this game was woefully inadequate. Calgary was superbly prepared in blocking assignments for their run game on our D and I didn't see any corrections to allow for this. We rely heavily on our style of D in pressure and defined assignments, and we failed miserably in that regard. It's not a reach to lay the blame on the DC and on the talent level of a couple of players who were tasked with these assignments. This chess match between their OC and our DC was a King's down during the first quarter.

Well, we're all expecting a whirlwind of activity that will carry away both players and staff away from IGF property. But will it happen according to what we, the fans see, or as others, those in charge, see it? Do they dare fall back on the $$ excuse or will there actually be a proper purge? I'm usually not down on the organization but this clown show is going to cost us a chance at retaining and attracting good players .. it's going to be a long while before we dig ourselves our of this mess. Usually a team can start turning the tide of ill repute by either a very good signing, or a few solid signings. This is something we have been missing for several years. Look at the excitement here in the 'Peg for a few minor transactions. But, unfortunately, we're in deep, and this new CBA is a tremendous impediment to any GM trying to make a statement. The Ottawa entry into the CFL also complicates the re-building of the roster. Bad timing for the team and bad timing for Walters to make an impact.

I'd have loved Tate at one point. Injuries, prone to or not, lessen his value. Weirdness factor....is a factor. Our situation, and we do have one, means we are not in a situation to ignore these points. We'll have a priority list and Tate might even be on it. We'll work our way through that list and if, for some reason, he's the last one on it, I'll welcome him, because he's shown he can be a good QB. But we better have somebody in the background, just in case. But on the B Pierce note...no, he didn't get shafted, he's done.

What Trouba did, on that particular play, reminded me of a DB jumping a route and making that interception. Smart plays are just that..smart plays. With a good result!
