  1. Because Burke said he was told not to talk about it... I hope you're not serious. If he actually said that publicly he is a complete moron. I don't know the real story here, but I'll float this idea out there. Here we are, close to Vet cut-down day and Pierce sustains 'an injury'. He's not made available to the press, the injury is ??, and Burke is told he can't talk about it. Could it possibly be a kind of buy-out where, for Buck's silence and withdrawal from the QB scene, he gets rewarded with 'injury pay' for the rest of the year? He now becomes the 4th QB and only plays on an emergency basis.
  2. After reading the earlier reports, I thought there was a chance Mulumba was the one being waived. But I shouldn't be surprised, it wouldn't be the first time Moses parted ways with something.
  3. But Burris wasn't really available to us. Understand that Calgary wanted value in a QB in return. They got that value in Kevin Glenn. We didn't have anybody (QB) that would have interested Calgary.
  4. Yes, and if that was Williams thought, I bet he was more than surprised by the extra year. But it still doesn't explain who, on his side, didn't know or didn't advise Williams correctly. I believe he had a different agent then, but any agent worth his salt, would have known about the option year. The mistake was made initially, IMO, and since then, his side has been looking at how to get out of it. At least that's how I see it. And this would make sense too.
  5. And here's the other side from Tillman: Edmonton GM Eric Tillman said he didn’t enter the off-season intent on trading Ray. However, he added the Argos’ dogged pursuit of the veteran quarterback resulted in a deal that Tillman believes makes the Eskimos younger and improves their Canadian content. “They were very aggressive,” Tillman said. “We were not looking to trade Ricky and were very reluctant to do so.” http://globalnews.ca/news/188531/edmonton-eskimos-qb-ricky-ray-traded-to-toronto/ So, it's a matter of believe what suits your fancy.
  6. As Ed Tait says: "consider it for what it's worth" .....and I did.
  7. Could you point out the link please? Edit, here's the link; http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/diggin-out-221899171.html
  8. If only he didn't have that one bad game....
  9. I pick Etienne, Edwards and possibly Kelly.
  10. What Goltz needs is help from his defence. Instead of starting the game in the hole, it would be nice to see plenty of stopped Sask drives where Goltz can get more touches in better field position. You know, kinda like a regular team. I don't care that they have stars, every team has stars. It's how you approach stopping them that matters. Instead of teams facing our D and knowing exactly what we're doing, I want to see some confusion when facing us for a change. Isn't this supposed to be Burke's strong suit? A good defensive showing will go a long ways in keeping Goltz going, IMO.
  11. Yes, I don't see how sitting out a year helps his end game. Perhaps a bonus payment of some sort, without extension, should have been worked out.
  12. We have the element of surprise.
  13. This is all you need to know. There is a bread crumb trail of deceit on the part of the TiCats, first not offering him the 1+1 that must be offered to all rookies, then the sketchy letter about the option year, for any court, this is a slam dunk. "Williams reportedly contends" "the TiCats, first not offering him the 1+1 that must be offered to all rookies," These statements alone do not prove a thing, one way or the other. One says one thing, not surprisingly , the other party states the other.
  14. Well then, there there was a lot 'attribution to malice' in some recent Bomber decisions.
  15. Hey, everybody wants a deadly passer to throw in there and reap the immediate benefits. QBs that have done this recently have a distinct advantage over us though. They have an established O-Line. But Goltz's inaccuracy can partially be blamed on our putrid game planning and his inexperience. Can he improve? Surely he can. Will he get the chance? ??
  16. It's an interesting point but still doesn't prevent the Ti-Cats from appealing this kind of ruling and pushing the end date 'til the end of their contract anyways. But with those guys, they are not unhappy with their situation, and would probably just stick around. With Williams, i just don't understand why he/his agent was not aware of the potential third year option right from the start. Now I know he has since switched agents but surely someone in William's camp should have known long beforehand that this potential problem existed. Proper wording on this renewal notwithstanding, they must have known it was coming. No, for me it still goes back to the original contract that Williams, apparently, was only too happy to sign. It'd probably be easier to skirt several potential tacklers than to skirt this issue. Still a lost year...no matter what.
  17. Toronto must know how frigged they are now with Ray going down like this. I can't believe we pick this year, with the Calvillo situation and now Ray, to suck so badly at virtually everything we've tried. Just a couple of victories would have had us in the thick of it.
  18. It doesn't really matter in regards to Williams. He chose to sit out the year and Hamilton chose to keep him under contract. This will not end here and now. It will be appealed and drag on, essentially long enough for the same end result. No Williams this year for anybody.
  19. I agree Walters is campaigning for the job. And he should be. But I don't see the negative you do as in your "statement" The 'waiver wire' is only one tool, and I'm pretty sure Walters is aware of that. The fact that he and Moll acted swiftly to secure Simms-Walker is an indication. Nobody is 'sold' on Walters as yet, but let the forward moving steps continue. These baby step signings, compared to previous signings, are flowing in as opposed to dribbling in.
  20. As long as the overall talent curve keeps inching upwards, it's a good sign.
  21. It would be the only nine game stretch Buck could fulfil. It's a good idea.
  22. Don't know what your problem is...don't care, but your pretending to know more about football than others is...juvenile. If you don't want to (pun here) react to my posts, then ignore my posts. Simple.
  23. Durrrr yeah that's why I said we didn't get him and it would have been good for depth. This is like talking to a child. Or...acting like one. If you can't see 'the overall' of what I was saying...don't blame me.
  24. And of course, his response: Kirk Penton ‏@PentonKirk3h @jacquiewinnipeg You are right Jackie! My sources are fine, though. That was a mixup between me and my editor.
  25. Hinds reminds me of someone who should be backing up in the defensive backfield...not starting, but anyways.... CFLDaily ‏@CFLDaily RT @Dave_CHED: #Eskimos sign non-import DB Ryan Hinds, ex of the Tiger-Cats. Also sign import DL Nekos Brown. #CFL
