  1. - A Mississippi high school student has tested positive for coronavirus during the first week of classes, according to the Corinth School District https://cnn.it/2XhsI40 - A leading member of his coronavirus task force, Dr Deborah Birx, says the disease is "extraordinarily widespread" across the country and a greater threat than when the outbreak first began. - BBC.com 👁‍🗨 (Duh) - Dr Birx has lost a lot of credibility by bowing to Trump. - Retired Army Brig. Gen. Anthony Tata has formally withdrawn his nomination to be the Defense Department undersecretary of defense for policy and has been designated "the official Performing the Duties of the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Policy reporting to the Acting Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Dr. James Anderson," a Pentagon spokesperson said in a statement. https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/02/politics/anthony-tata-nominee-pentagon/index.html?utm_medium=social&utm_content=2020-08-02T22%3A53%3A38&utm_source=twcnnbrk&utm_term= 👁‍🗨 He couldn’t get the position they wanted him to have, so they made this one up...
  2. Huge sigh of relief for #nhljets. All indications are no Achilles damage for Scheifele. Seems to have dodged a major bullet as @saraorlesky reports ⬇️
  3. This video is the closest thing we’ve gotten giving us some sort of information on what was to be the 2020 season. According to this video, teams will lose less money if they don’t play this year. I don't care what fans think about Rod Pedersen or Justin Dunk, they at least are still invested in trying to get some information for the fans. My personal opinion is..no season, build for the future. Easy to say...
  4. And this is where Trump’s head is at..
  5. Bizarre is one word for it..
  6. “The Democrats are playing for Nov. 3. We're playing for the good of the people.” 👁‍🗨 Barf..
  7. According to the governor, it shouldn’t matter..
  8. Pathetic...
  9. Uh huh...
  10. The only good thing about that daft CFL announcement from the Feds is that our glaring focus is now on them instead of the League and/or the CFLPA.Still seething,..
  11. Bob Irving for Minister to set things right...
  12. Just wait til @BobIrvingCJOB gets a hold of this. And every other sports writer in Canada. I hope one of them gets a hold of this bone(r) and doesn’t let go.
  13. Good! That’s one of the hazards of being a KKKook
  14. This is a friggin slap in the face for the CFL, all teams, all fans, restaurants and businesses who benefit from game days in and around the respective cities. I truly hope the respective media takes up this plight and get the fans involved in protesting this stupidity. There’s a lot involved beyond merely football games, and it looks like short sighted politicians are not exclusive to the US. This is BS and fans should let it be known they’re not pleased...
  15. - Philippines' president Rodrigo Duterte has once again told people to disinfect their face masks with petrol - insisting he was "not joking". BBC.com - 👁‍🗨 who’s got the better hairdo? Trump or Boris Johnson - Trump on Herman Cain: "Unfortunately, he passed away from a thing called the China virus." (👁‍🗨 what an assorts putting it like that) - Trump’s delay the election tweet was no mere diversion. He has spent years undermining US elections, claiming they are rigged, fraudulent and otherwise bogus at least 713 times, most clustered around the elections of 2016, 2018, and now 2020. - Susan Glasser @sbg1 - Hong Kong postpones elections for a year 'over virus concerns' bbc.com - Just so we're all clear, rent is due on Sunday, more than 25,000,000 unemployed Americans are about to lose their extra unemployment benefits, and the Senate just left for a three-day weekend. - Robert Reich @RBReich - Five days ago, 21 states were designated as having uncontrolled #Covid19 spread on the Covid Exit Strategy website. Today that number is 30.covidexitstrategy.org - Trump still seems to think that the coronavirus public health crisis is a Democratic hoax - Aaron Rupar @atrupar (“if they win on Nov 3, the virus will disappear) - Jared Kushner, April 29: "I think you'll see by June a lot of the country should be back to normal and the hope is that by July, the country's really rocking again.” - More than 400,000 bikers gathered in Sturgis last summer and while there may not be that many when the 10-day event begins this Aug. 7, there will be large numbers of bikers potentially bringing COVID-19 to the event or taking it home with them. And they’ll risk spreading it all along the way there and back.https://www.miamiherald.com/news/coronavirus/article244610862.html#storylink=cpy - Phillies, Blue Jays, Marlins, Nationals, Cardinals, and Brewers are not playing today because of COVID-19. 👁‍🗨 (not so good a plan eh MLB?)
  16. Exactly. That’s why discussion is necessary from fans, players, GMs, etc to get the ball rolling. It certainly doesn’t look like we will be having a season, and right now, that might be best. The CFL and CFLPA can open up new dialogue over the coming months, and maybe, just maybe, the Gov. will be there to assist in the future. Whatever happens, most everything that is discussed should be made available to the fans, the heart of the League, even if it takes new involvement at the League office.
  17. - Some members of Jared Kushner's coronavirus task force believed the pandemic would affect Democratic areas worse and may have adjusted accordingly, Vanity Fair reported. In March and early April, Kushner gathered a team to devise a nationwide response to the pandemic. - A public-health expert in regular contact with the team told the magazine that "the political folks" thought a nationwide response was a bad political move.At the time, outbreaks were worst in Democratic-voting states and cities. The source suggested that some close to Kushner thought it was best to hold back and blame governors.Kushner's plan was indeed dropped in favor of a mainly state-by-state response. Since then, cases have surged in states on both sides of the political divide.https://www.businessinsider.com/kushner-covid-19-plan-maybe-axed-for-political-reasons-report-2020-7
  18. But we don’t bargain with them. I wouldn’t approach them at all. The league must agree to come with contract offers to all imports that cater to our need, not for anybody else. We will lose some potential star players but we lose them anyways. At least we can have them for 2-3 years. We will still get noticed, and that’s what we want. Lets take back our league We set the rules for our league, and our league alone. We set the contracts for our league. We are not going to be in any less bargaining position than we are now.
  19. Ah, but that’s where you have to have CFL size balls and stand firm. I mean, why do we have to sell out? We don’t. We've learned. The window of which you speak would have to be handled differently. Why can’t we dictate terms of what we want...or no deal? We develop, they pay. These one year contracts we have now give the NFL the same means to an end and they don’t pay. We can change that.
  20. That’s not so bad, you could be on hydroxychloroquine and be dreaming of a Donnie boy.
  21. I do see where you’re coming from, but we sit back and watch talent vacate our league and the NFL signs them on the cheap. Other leagues do compensate for development, and the NFL certainly can afford it, but the mindset isn’t there. Our league bends too easily to our southern neighbours. Now I wouldn’t want any strings attached either, and I highly doubt they will offer this assistance, but there should be some way to jump start better deals. Something like longer contracts (maybe 3 years or so). If the NFL wants these players..they can pay for them. And all the teams should recognize this. What we’re doing now isn’t working. Now, fans may say, who’s going to sign up here for longer, stricter contracts. I think they’d be surprised. Everybody knows by now that there is a path from the CFL to the NFL and we should have restrictions that help the league, not hinder it. Would we go through a rough trial period? Probably, but holding firm and with resolve, the league, as a whole, would benefit in the long run. Talented players with nowhere to go and nobody to develop them. But given a chance? Who knows...
  22. NFL turning a blind eye to Canadian leagues financial issuesThe CFL continues to wait, with baited breath, for federal government financial support. Our Canadian league is hoping for a return to action in Winnipeg early this fall.Meanwhile the NFL, the CFL’s big brother, ignores little brother’s plight, at least from what we understand today.https://regina.ctvnews.ca/hewitt-commentary-nfl-turning-a-blind-eye-to-canadian-leagues-financial-issues-1.5045225#_gus&_gucid=&_gup=twitter&_gsc=0KUUxtl
