  1. That’s fair but my overall point was just intended as a statement to illustrate a less specific overall point that there have been a number of games this season won almost exclusively through defensive and ST plays. It just so happens that most of them were in games Nichols’ played which leads to him being more highly regarded than is deserved.
  2. Totally agree. A QB is often only as good as the situation his coaches put him in. It was a much improved gameplan today. I hope that continues as well as steadily improved play from Streveler.
  3. Okay, but if we can’t have theoretical discussions it severely limits the discussion on a message board. Teams rarely lose when they create five turnovers. I don’t think this is any great revelation.
  4. Hey, I completely agree. And Streveler theoretically should only improve.
  5. Second one was bad. First one was a jump ball in the end zone with one on one coverage. Adams didn’t give much effort and was tugged most of the way down the field. You could argue he didn’t need to take that shot there but we’ve settled for field goals with poor clock management in those scenarios so often, it doesn’t bother me much.
  6. A Nicholsian passing game, then. The point is he was mediocre but the team won.
  7. Streveler wasn’t any better today than he was against Hamilton but a win does a lot to adjust perspectives. That’s the whole thing with Nichols. Does this team win today without four picks? Doubt it. Same thing as a ton of the Nichols wins.
  8. Streveler with a very Nicholsian win today. Definitely wasn’t pretty but the team won so I suppose he gets all the credit.
  9. When the D comes to play and turns the ball over, combined with a big return we win! How novel.
  10. Half decent gameplan from Lapo today. Doubt it’s meaningful long term but credit today.
  11. Adams... sucks.
  12. Bailey is a playmaker. Makes you wonder why we toiled with mediocrity at that position for so long.
  13. They haven’t contained him at all. A ton of his completions are when he runs outside and the receivers come back to him. Something the Bombers receivers demonstrably do not do.
  14. They’ve been good this season but horrific today.
  15. Much. And his game was always based on his speed and athleticism rather than good angles. That play being a microcosm of that.
  16. This poor secondary has to cover forever because the pass rush is so bad. Bighill is close to the worst blizter in the league.
  17. Sure. I like Adams. He’s a valuable part of this team. It’s not his fault he’s miscast as a number one guy. While he’s the least of this team’s problems in the receiving group, he has never been great on the 50-50 balls. He’s the best we have there, but still on great.
  18. He’s a number two on pretty much any other team. Good, not great player.
  19. But they have John Bowman, who he’s heard of.
  20. Hopefully we never see Whitehead again. Ideally Bailey takes the job and runs with it.
  21. Exactly. His playing time at all is a small sample size but his deep shots provide an even smaller sample size because they’re hardly written into the playbook. And when he only gets one shot deep a game, the misses are going to skew that data significantly.
  22. Again, both statements can be true. Lapo is bad, Nichols is bad. Streveler still may or may not be bad. I liked Nichols when he first came here and didn’t judge him harshly until a reasonable sample existed.
  23. Nichols won that game for Hamilton. But Evans has been much better since.
  24. It will take a miracle to finally convince some people that Nichols isn't close to a top tier QB in any facet. Streveler has two bad games and suddenly forget the dozens of Nichols' bad to mediocre performances. Not that Streveler is a saviour but Nichols is no better than the 7th best QB in the league at best. Mitchell, Reilly, Masoli, Arbuckle, Evans and even Adams are better. Hell, I think Fajardo is pretty terrible but even he is probably better.
  25. And if both QBs get hurt playing in very unfavourable conditions?
