That's true to an extent, which makes the "better weather" argument somewhat moot. The average temperature in Toronto for example is 3.85 degrees warmer on October 31 than November 21. The sunny day in August fan isn't going to a game in either October or November. (many wouldn't go in August if it is raining either. Certainly if the discussion was solely about better weather, they would only hold the Grey Cup indoors in one of the three indoor stadiums. I'm not sure that that has been proven to be a better game experience overall. Generally speaking, my opinion is that the indoor games are more sterile, and less entertaining. That being said, there are certainly exceptions. (The 2011 Vanier cup was one of the greatest football games I've ever seen, and it was indoors at BC place.) The NFL had a very memorable game in a snow storm in Buffalo this past week which created more excitement than virtually any other game played this past weekend. Sometimes those tough weather conditions cause a "wow" factor.

From my perspective, I'd prefer to leave the timing of the schedule as it is. 1. One of these years, a Canadian team will make it to the Stanley Cup finals, and that will attract all of the media attention. The CFL would be trying to kick off their regular season against that back drop, and that is a tough sell. I too think that the hockey season is too long, but that isn't changing anytime soon. Can you imagine the Bombers opening night while the Jets are playing the Leafs in game 7 of the cup final? For me it's Bombers first, Jets 2nd, but given that situation, even I would likely be watching the Jets. 2. Baseball's "World Series" takes a fair bit of media attention in October. I don't want to see a Grey Cup game going up against a final involving the Blue Jays. 3. There is no guarantee that he weather will be better in on any given night October than November. Grey Cup 2016 was a very pleasant evening outdoors in Toronto. In fact, it was a more enjoyable Grey Cup experience than any indoor Grey Cup game that I've been to. (I go every year and have been going for decades) Even being outdoors in Toronto last year and Ottawa this year were superior to all of the games I've been to in the Skydome, the big Owe, or BC Place. 4. Halloween on Grey Cup Sunday would be a bad mix. 5. For the last number of years, Grey Cup has coincided with American Thanksgiving. This is a minor point, but for many of the USA players, it makes it easier for their families to come up for the weekend as they don't have to worry about missing work. For me personally, we do some business with American companies, and so the Thursday and Friday are slower days for me as I don't have any US calls to make. This makes it easier for me to book these days off. I don't pretend to speak for other people, but as a Grey Cup veteran, I'm quite happy with the timing as it is.

Bombers miss the winning FG. Argos punt the ball out. I couldn’t see it but they said it was punted out of bounds. I thought punting out of bounds was illegal, other than inside the 20 yard line. Does anyone know if it landed in and bounced out?

This is the best thing I've read all day. The guy makes **un-educated** comments about the league, and then documentation appears showing that he is truly out of his area of expertise. I would hope that the player finds new representation.

These guys come out of college where they aren't likely supporting a family and are probably living away from home with no pay. Playing CFL isn't much different lifestyle wise. Comparing their lot to the NFL isn't realistic. If they aren't willing to put in 1-2 years in their early 20's to chase their dream, that's there choice. It's no different for guys in AA baseball with the Goldeyes, or for many recent college grads who travel and work odd jobs while doing so for the life experience IMHO Thorpe made a bad choice in giving up too early., but that's his choice.

Generally, I'm in favour of this. To be honest though, I would have been just as happy to see them make PI and Illegal Contact non-challengable, and leave the coaches with 2 challenges for catch/fumble/out of bounds situations, replenished if they are correct. Challenging PI and Illegal contact, along with Roughing the Passer is what has dramatically slowed the game down. As was said earlier, there is no doubt in my mind that coaches designed plays to create contact knowing that they could challenge for illegal contact on a play. It was getting silly. I was thinking the other day of the cost/benefits of the challenges, and I think that in general, I enjoyed the game more in the pre-review days.

Our in/out time was the similar to last year. Red pass in U-lot. Not sure why they go to 1 lane prior to the stadium turn. They could have 1 lane for the west side of U-lot and a second lane for the east side of u-lot and remove a bottleneck, thus speeding up the entrance time.

Overall I thought that the defence played reasonably well other than Carmichael. Calgary got 1/2 of their points on turnovers. That 5 play stand at the endzone was impressive even if the Stamps scored on the 6th attempt. I was disappointed with the offence in the 2nd half. They just had no answer for the blitz packages that Calgary was throwing at them. I'm expecting better this week.

For what it's worth, I've been a season ticket holder for almost 50 years. IMHO the worst coach we had was Darryl Rogers. He had no clue about the Canadian game. No concept of how to manage a game or the ratio, and he didn't care to learn. Took a good team and made them awful. Dis-honourable mention to Tim Burke. Kneeling while losing, at the half and at the end of a game. I nearly lost it when he did it at the end of the game. Complete surrender. It still pisses me off.

How did he qualify as a non-import?

Thanks for posting, I will be in Spain for two Bomber games in August, so I may just try this out.

I believe it will be Davis at #2, but "the Fever" will come in for short yardage and the odd occasion to offer a change of pace. I suspect that they will put together a special package for him to run when needed.

I'm surprised by Frederick being in the first round of cuts. It's not likely that any of these would get a P.R. spot as there are more cuts to be made after this week's game.

Personally cheering for the new Winnipeg boys getting their first looks at CFL speed: #78 Ricard, #73 Tachinski, both will likely return to the Rifles but earned the opportunity to play in the preseason game also #71 Yachison from the Bison who was a late add to camp.

I'm okay with this proposal so long as PR guys become free agents in February, but whether they are freed up at season's end or in February doesn't make much difference. I do think that all PR guys should continue to become free agents as they are not being paid full salary when on the PR. They should be free to pursue other opportunities. (they still have the choice of staying if they think they are about to move up to the main roster.)

In no way, shape or form do I want to see a "Fairy Catch" rule instituted in our game. We have better rules than our friends down south, especially in time clock and kicking game.

With the Ottawa win this year, I've now seen every team in the league win the Grey Cup live in person, except for 1. When we last won, I didn't have any kids, now I have 3 adult children. My daughter is 25, she's been to 12 Grey Cup games with me, and we're making plans for Ottawa. One of these years it will happen. One of these years.

I don't disagree. I'm just optimistic that with the team moving to BMO Field, if they work it correctly, they can develop a stronger fan base. Attendance is good in Hamilton and in Ottawa, and yes I do understand the differences in the cities. The Argos need to understand that from a ticket price perspective, their competition is the lowest price points that TFC and BlueJays tickets go for. If they adjust their lower end tickets, and put a better team on the field, I believe that they will attract better crowds. No reason that they can't get 25,000 plus out regularly.

Just returned from my annual Grey Cup Trek. 1. That was an excellent game. 2. Vanier Cup in Hamilton was also a great game....glad we drove down for it. 3. The Cup does get a bit lost in Toronto compared to other cities but there are advantages too.....good transportation, lots of hotel rooms, lots of restaurants. 4. BMO field >>>>Skydome. No comparison. I had great seats with a great view of the field. I was surrounded by Argo fans, and they were awesome. I know some people on here get critical of the attendance in TO, but there are some great fans there too. 5. The organizers seriously overpriced the game tickets, and then made adjustments. In the end the place was full, and it was a great game. Hopefully the league steps in and learns from this. 6. I'm pumped for next year in Ottawa.

I usually support the officials, but that may have been the worst call of the year. You knew they were kicking short, you should consciously be looking for it.
