  1. I wouldn't say that this team has a delicate psyche. They've come from behind a number of times this season and it looks like MOS has instilled an expectation to win. I have no idea why they're sticking with Grigsby at RB, but I doubt it's to protect his feelings. The coaching staff seems to be in love with him for better or worse. Maybe he's the type of guy who dominates practice and turns off in games. see the post above yours. Instead of blaming just grigsby, look at the Oline also. Dude was constantly being stuffed in the back field, what can the rb do, any running back for that matter do when he always has 2 or 3 if not more guys in his face the second he gets the ball. It wasn't only when the O line didn't open a hole...it was other times throughout the game where he was far less than impressive!
  2. Who cares about cfl.ca...Marve is still on the bombers roster...check their site!
  3. Like when he ran for a touchdown that got called back for holding? Yup. Just like that, only not needing a hold to make it around the corner. Yup...always Mr. Negative!
  4. Like when he ran for a touchdown that got called back for holding?
  5. Quinn Everett @Quangggg · Jul 30 Rainy and foggy, just the way I left ya Halifax. Feels good to be back.
  6. Although I have no use for Montreal...kind of felt sorry for the Don, sitting on the sidelines by himself, looking forelorn, and that he was on another planet.
  7. Watson has a problem with hamstring issues. For many athletes it is a hard thing to deal with, and usually not enough healing time allowed.
  8. Sounds like the guy who was wearing 13 here last season. Exactly!
  9. Is it really that low percentage though? RB on a linebacker or DL and just lob it over the coverage... Khari Jones put a lot of tds on the board just by putting the ball up and letting guys make a play on it why shouldn't Willy? Yah, it is a low %. Most of the time, you'll get a LB on the RB, not a DE. The additional speed and cover ability, quickly turns that TD into a knock down and a win to a loss. Most of the time, when 2 receivers are in the same spot, the ball isn't completed. By that logic any play is a low % play call because you clearly expect the coverage to never get beaten and to make plays to knock the ball down. What I saw happen was the qb saw his RB beat his coverage badly so he dropped the ball over top of the coverage. Seems to me that's what good qbs do to make plays. Throw the ball where the receiver can catch it and the defender can't. That Denmark brought his route too close to the play is nothing to do with the play call. It was a low % play that worked. That doesn't turn it into a high % play or a good play call. Willy made a great throw. That doesn't turn it into a high % play or a good play call. Denmark running a bad route doesn't have anything to do with if it's a good play call or not, but it does greatly reduce the chances of success. Why oh why must you always be so argumentative? It is no more of a low % percentage play than many others in a game!
  10. It was a 2nd round draft pick, and given where the Bombers finished the season it was an early 2nd rounder... Here's the problem I still have with the trade: Walters had all the leverage in that trade. Riders wanted Hall, one of if not the best DE in the league for their playoff push, they were likely to lose Neufeld at least to the expansion draft anyway. Walters jumped the gun and paid too much. Hall and an actual late pick would have been one thing, but Hall and a high 2nd? That's an overpayment for a player the Riders were just trying to get some return on. I felt the same way at the time of the trade, but now I look at it like we got a starting OL for a second round pick... which we probably wouldn't have been able to do if we had kept the pick. We also got a fourth-rounder back in the trade. but you can't ignore Hall in the trade, he was a star player, the fact that he's not in the league now is irrelevant, he helped the Riders to win a Grey Cup, he was a huge part of the trade. Walters seems to me to pay whatever the cost to get his player which can be good or bad. At least he knows what he wants, but you can't always be paying sticker price in trades. Sticker price is sucker price. The thing is, nobody gives up starting OL. It took the first overall pick to pry Jon Gott out of Calgary... he is a good OL but definitely not the best in the league or anything. I believe that you are undervaluing Neufeld at this point. But he wasn't a starter in Saskatchewan and with the expansion draft coming up they were going to lose him anyway. It was them trading a depth player, and yes he was a depth player for them,in order to bolster their defensive line for a playoff run. No way should Walters have been adding a 2nd round pick. 4th round pick now we're talking, but not a 2nd. I'm guessing if the roles were reversed you might not be too happy about giving up a Canadian Olineman for a guy who was headed to the NFL in two months. Both teams had something the other team wanted. Not sure were really had them over any barrels. Not a lot of teams lining up to give us a Canadian Olineman. Maybe they had us over a barrel. If I was on the otherside I'd still be basking in the glow of a championship team. It's disgraceful that people are trying to insinuate that Hall had no value. Walters got antsy to make the move and didn't play hardball and paid more than he could have. So what is your perceived solution? Not make the deal? Because if the other team sticks by their guns you make the deal or don't! Overpaying is subjective not objective! If I buy a car and I feel that I didn't get fleeced then I didn't get fleeced.
  11. What?
  12. Now he'll find out what it's like when you ask someone to play a different position.
  13. You and I both!
  14. The Bombers PR is on their website. Easy to find. of course they are I just don't know what those names mean: # Name Pos I/N HT WT Born College 10 Mills, Mason QB International 6.00 195 1990-11-15 San Diego 18 Bolton, Kyle RB International 5.10 195 1990-06-05 Baker 22 Dumas, Daivon DB International 6.01 178 1989-08-13 Northern Arizona 24 McGuffie, Sam WR International 5.10 200 1989-10-16 Rice 57 Everett, Quinn OL National 6.03 292 1992-12-11 Mount Allison 65 Jones, Jarvis OL International 6.07 302 1988-02-28 Oklahoma 86 Kemp, Donavon WR International 6.01 200 1988-12-29 UTEP 88 Renaud, Taylor SB National 6.02 200 1987-12-22 AcadiaWho do we have great hope for? All of them!
  15. The real problem is the running backs are coached by a guy who has never coached running backs
  16. QFT. Toronto is a hot mess right now on defence. Tim Burke's career on a spiral downward... But it's the players fault. We need to realize that & cut Burkey some slack. No we don't...you do it!
  17. Poblah either didn't play at all last night or was invisible.
  18. What...put Portis in to take only QB sneaks? Nothing wrong with Marve, it's no push from the O Line
  19. No Jovon Johnson was a bust last year...hence why he is gone!
  20. So they may not win this game...and it's negative city?...not even close!
  21. It's not though and here's why - As a play caller in that situation you're giving your QB a chance to make a play while trusting him not to make a poor decision. As a play caller you go into shotgun on second and inches with the thought that the WORST thing that's going to happen is you're going to be facing third and inches on the next play. If there's a play to be made on second down, make the throw. If not (which clearly there wasn't) you throw the ball away and take your sneak on third down and start over again. You do not under any circumstances take the sack, which was the result of Reilly hanging onto the ball to long. The play call was fine. The protection was good from the line. It was a very simple, basic football decision that Mike Reilly got wrong. Hence why it's a bad call. Reilly has been struggling all year - even last week he didn't get 200 yards passing. Eskies Defense has been winning everything. At that point you get the first down, going into shotgun formation on 2nd and inches isn't fooling anyone. Not me, not the 80 year old guy sitting in front of me, and certainly not Hufnagel and the Calgary Stampeder Defense. Totally unnecessary risk (though I agree 100% he should have just chucked the ball out of bounds if the play wasn't there). no it's not a bad call, it's bad execution by the qb. He takes the snap, he drops back he throws the ball. Either to his receiver who got open or if his receiver didn't get open out of bounds. More teams should be gambling like that on 2nd and inches. It's not about fooling anyone, it's about essentially having a free play as long as you don't do anything stupid. Either someone makes a play or you pitch the ball away and get your inches on 3rd down. Where is the advantage? As has been said you're not fooling anyone! You go for the inches and you have a first down and start all over again. The game is all about getting first downs not getting sacked when you don't have to. He might get sacked on the next play for the reasons you state, but then it will be second down, not third from further back.
  22. That's not true. If he goes down, then no whistle, then gets up and starts to run again and gets smoked...he is a running back...no penalty!
  23. I would rather see Knapp on the Bench, I haven't decided about Howard yet but to me Knapp is built like a TE and plays Tackle Like a TE Poorly 285 lbs is one hell of a TE.... Knapp is playing cuz of his athleticism... I think he can be a pretty effective player... perhaps he could afford to put a few of the pounds back on that he took off in the winter... My Concern is he is getting pushed back to the QB the past 2 games so he is too light and / or has bad technique. Even as bad as Boatman was last year at least he didn't get pushed around. I would rather see Javis Jones Play RT Please don't compare Knapp to Boatman. Knapp has had both good and bad games so far. Boatman was the same except for the part of the good games. Only comparing the results they have completely different styles but at least players had to go Around Boatman they are going Through Knapp... Knapp can run like no othe Lineman in the CFL but he has to be able to Protect the QB much better than he has been ! It would also be nice if Wiley was at practice during the week. Wiley away again working with high school offensive linemen at US camps? Nice. Wiley is never away for an entire week...
  24. So what you're telling us is that it was an intentional trick play by Reilly? If that's the case he had better watch himself in the future if he does that again! I wouldn't call it a trick play. he stumbled, fell forward & got back up right away. At the same time, I don't think the tackling was very good on defense all night & sure he took advantage of it. The way I see it, he's going to get smoked at some point this season & get injured. I take issue with what you're saying. Reilly did not stumble. He deliberately turned his body and was headed down when he saw Washington. To me, he was giving himself up to avoid Washington's hit. I'm not even sure Washington didn't brush him. And yes, he will get smoked if he continues like that. Totally agree..he went down on purpose, and seeing as he didn't hear a whistle decided to get up and run again.
