  1. So let me get this straight...you're worried that Etch is going to use a true corner who is shy about tackling in the wrong spot?
  2. No let's keep the conversation wherever it goes...
  3. Just to make sure we're all on the same page for applying for Canadian Citizenship To apply for Canadian citizenship as an adult, you must: Be a permanent resident; be 18 years of age or older; have lived in Canada for at least 1,095 days in the four years before the date you sign your application (time spent residing in Canada prior to acquiring permanent residence counts as a half day of residence — see residence calculator); have an adequate knowledge of either English or French (see What is meant by “adequate knowledge of English or French”?); have an adequate knowledge of Canada and the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship; not be under a removal order (in other words, the Government of Canada has not ordered you to leave the country); not be a security risk; not be criminally prohibited; and attend a ceremony and take the oath of citizenship The table below shows the processing time from receipt of application to final decision for 80% of cases processed between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013: Routine citizenship applications Non-routine citizenship applications 24 months 36 months
  4. He actually was a tight end in college then converted to guard on the line. I'm pretty sure he converted to tackle, not guard. Tackle is where I'd like to see him too. Knapp did not show well at RT last year... Was that when he was put on the oline just 4 days after arriving?...give the guy a break!
  5. And how do you see that playing out when they haven't even played the Saturday game yet, nor do any of us have access to the grading of the QB's that the coaching staff do from the day training camp started?
  6. You seem to think virtually every pick no matter who made it is an "overpayment" I guess we should just call you "cheap"
  7. And how did you manage to assume he has peaked? And how do you know what his real potential is?
  8. Hall has the weakest arm of the bunch, the really windy days won't be his friend. I hope Brohm makes some kind of push now. Keeping a bunch of really good players will help this team get better. Discarding the crapiest players and keeping the guys who win jobs by default does not help this team get better. If Brohm can finally start forcing the issue OShea will have the good kind of hard choice to make. I've read this statement a lot here, and, as someone not to familar with levels of arm strength as a QB, I would tend to agree based on my observations of his play. For arguments sake, let's say this is true. So, in a passing league like the CFL, where it's standard to throw a forty-yard out with zip, does his other skills make-up for this limitation? Yes he's appears decisive but that becomes tempered on some plays with a weaker arm, no? He seems like a good guy who loves playing the game but I'm not feeling it with him. I hope, as I sometimes am, completley wrong and he plays at the level required to run the offense we employ this year. Weakest arm of the bunch is a relative statement. He gets some grief for that but I'm pretty sure he can put enough zip on the ball to knock a tooth out of my face while I'm standing 15 yards away from him and explaining his lack of arm strength to him. A strong arm allows a QB to force balls into tight coverage before the DB can react. That sounds like a good thing, and it can be, but it can also be a crutch for QBs who aren't good at reading coverage, or a problem for QBs who think they can throw the ball hard enough to beat any coverage. Known as a Bishop. When a QB understands the CFL better he knows which passes are available to him on any given play. Sometimes the out pass will be there for Hall, sometimes it won't. He has to be smart enough to see it. He seems pretty cerebral in his approach. Last year he was a CFL rookie. He had lot of NFL experience but history has shown that doesn't mean much. He picked it all up pretty quick and ended up as our best QB last year (not saying much) despite being a rookie and having a "weak arm". The goal is to win games this year, not accumulate the most project players. Odds are that Hall as our backup gives us a better chance to do that than the other two, at least in the short term. There is plenty of camp left to see what kind of challenge Brohm can put up. Sounds like he mounted one today. I agree with everything you said but I have to admit I'm disappointed in Max's performance so far in TC and the one pre-season game. His most obvious skill is his ability to move the ball down the field consistently making smart decisions but if that isn't happening... He came into camp as the underdog and does not seem to have progressed beyond what he showed us last year even though he had an off season to prepare for the challenge. Actually...Hall has had a very decent camp to date...
  9. Totally disagree...the guy was very good last year until he got injured. He catches virtually everything thrown at him coming out of the backfield and gets to his spots quickly. Yeah cut him based on one exhibition game where the special teams blockers are not in mid season form..that makes a lot of sense.
  10. Think it is 303 with a start at 5PM
  11. I don't know how good he is but man he's huge out there. Just dwarfed the dbs for the most part. Seems like there's some good potential there. Providing he catches what is thrown to him...have seen too many drops in practice!
  12. Does it really matter? He didn't Here's the issue - it's this statement that implies outright states that Miller was pushing OShea to hire Worman. Miller talking with old associates? Totally believable and I have no doubt it happened. Miller putting their names forward as possible candidates for those jobs? Totally believable and I can easily imagine it happened. Miller having an opinion on who should be hired for those jobs? He's only human, of course he would have an opinion. Miller pulling a Lyle Bauer and trying to force an old friend on to this team? This is where the rubber would have to meet the road for me. That's the part that stays in the land of bad rumours until proven otherwise. I would imagine Miller has probably spoken with Worman and Walby at some point in the last week and will continue to for many years to come. And what he may say during those conversations may be different than what he says elsewhere, much like what a person hypothetically says in front of their wife might be slightly different than what they tell their friends about their wife. It's a pretty normal human behaviour. Does it really matter now? He didn't get hired!
  13. Besides the conditional pick (which is not irrelelveant imo since the draft pool is deeper)... I think he got the short stick last night playing behind an OL with Pencer and Stevenson on the right side and a communication problem with his helmet. Plus, if his TD counted, I believe there will be no conversation on whos better between Hall and Brohm. Not only that but he threw to passes two Jaymar Johnson in a row and Johnson dropped both of them right in his hands....two and out! I'm not saying he was great or anything...but give some credit where credit is due.
  14. Fact is there were no deals...so you have nothing to fall back on except rumor and 3rd hand info
  15. I like to use Avast. It is not so much a pop-up blocker as it is an anti-virus/anti-malware tool. It is free, too. It works great for me. http://www.avast.com/ That won't help for those types of sites...Ad blocker plus for Chrome and Firefox will help a lot
  16. One of the best shows ever!
  17. First three games not on Shaw
  18. I thought the same thing when I read it...a football article instead of a shock piece...the comment about Woods is definitely true...he catches virtually everything thrown to him with his hands coming out of the backfield...sure hope they use him like that.
  19. For the most part the further along they go the better they look. The last few days it has been Max Hall looking good, along with Willy and Marve. Still not sold on Brohm although he certainly has the tools. Anxious as all to see them in game conditions.
  20. The "fact" you are arguing is incorrect - this is not practise time. It's training camp. Players are being evaluated to decide who will make the team. If you feel this is unimportant we could have stuck with last years roster. If you feel that spending a large portion of training camp evaluating our backup import Olineman instead of our NI prospects, then I guess we'll just agree to disagree. They're evaluating everybody...get over it!
  21. I just said that he appeared to be limping at the end of the sprints. Doesn't mean it will continue, could have just gone over on it a bit...or it could be something else who knows? Just something I saw is all.
  22. I was there today and agree with some observations not so much with others. First...I don't know what it is, but in previous years I never ever got bored watching practice. This year not the case, I think it is because they are doing more teaching, which is probably a good thing! There just seems to be fairly long periods where not much is happening. I hardly ever get to see what is going on with the OL. but Goossen and Morley are still alternating at centre. I'll tell you one thing, at the end of practice they had the OL doing sprints. Dan Knapp leaves all the rest in his dust. He is one fit dude! Someone who tried to keep up with him and almost did is Quinn Everett. Neufeld brought up the rear in last place and to me looked like he was limping at the end. My general impression is that virtually all the OL are more fit than in previous years. For me in previous practices, I wasn't so high on Brian Brohm...but he is really starting to grow on me and show me a pretty strong arm, good mobility, and accuracy. I am still impressed with Marve, Willy and Hall. Hall is smart and I still like him, but it is a struggle for him on long passes, certainly not the case with the others. In my opinion this is the strongest group of QB's we have had in a very long time, at least practice wise, we'll see in the pre season games. For the running backs they all look good, again the strongest group for some time. Paris Cotton really stands out, Grigsby didn't show quite as much today, but I disagree with a previous poster about Tarver, the guy can catch and puts on some wicked moves. He is quick, quick, quick. I am also impressed with our new Canadian RB Errol Brooks. This is the second time I noticed him doing good things. Volny also looked good today. Pontbriand was making nice catches, and Aaron Woods has great hands coming out of the backfield, and gets to his spot in a hurry. I hope they utilize him like that during the season. Wasn't necessarily impressed with Feoli-Gudino in previous practices, but the guy can catch, not always with his hands though, but effort wise and toughness really shows. I wouldn't describe him as super fast, but fast enough. I thought Carter was just Ok today, but Taylor Renaud is having a very good camp. Kolhert is his usual steady self. Still not totally sold on Urrita though...I think he drops too many, and doesn't fight hard enough for the ball. Didn't pay much attention to the defence...but tell you one thing, they are a hustling bunch, so there won't be a lack of effort.
  23. Nobody is getting a little chubby other than you perhaps. The people who reported from training camp are just reporting what they saw, nothing more nothing less. If you don't like the reports because they might be enthusiastic then don't read them!
  24. You don't think that a lot of scouts and NFL resources who look highly on a player doesn't mean anything?I know some guys slip through the cracks but for the most part anyone with talent is on the NFL radar, cfl radar or even arena football radar. Ricky Williams, David Boston, Bethel Johnson, Limas Sweed, J.T. O'Sullivan, Aaron Maybin and hundreds of others say otherwise. So guys pass there expiry date and or with mental issues? I understand certain positions or players who are undersized thrive in the cfl. But for qb its not all that different. Can you name any qbs who had zero NFL interest walk in and claim the back up position over other guys with cfl experience? Most of those kind of guys sit on the bench for a year or two before seeing the field. Instead of trying to defend your original position which was not defendable...why not just wait and see what happens...then you can yell "I told you so"
  25. There are guys in this camp who are likely to be just as good as Matthews
