Rookie Camp Day 1 (Reports and Discussion)
blitzmore replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
This is based on one practice. How many times we see a guy look solid in practice only to stink in game time. They have a lot more time looking at Brohm and if they didn't like him they wouldn't of traded for him. Marve only makes third string if he plays fantastic in the pre season games and Brohm shits the bed. No way Hall loses backup to Marve unless he gets hurt. The team isn't going to go with zero experience at back up. I'm willing to put money on that. Marve is the project guy who will only see the field in the reg season if we get injuries or we are killing a team or being hammered. So glad you're the only one who knows exactly what is going to happen in advance! -
Rookie Camp Day 1 (Reports and Discussion)
blitzmore replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Funny how people watching the same practice see different things QB's I thought Marve was a standout, my wife who only knows a small amount about football, said to me "look at that #16...does he ever have an arm" What I liked about him is that not only does he zip the ball in there but he appears to be very accurate. I also thought Max Hall had a good day as well. Nothing wrong with Willy...he will get there the more he plays I thought the QB from the Bisons...name escapes me...also has a very good arm. Too bad he will never be a QB in the CFL Brohm didn't really do anything to impress me at this point. Receivers We have some big dudes. I actually thought Urritia dropped a few that he should have had, he was not the standout for me. I like Braylon Bell #88 who is also a very big dude, and he was catching almost everything thrown at him, and moves in a very fluid motion, and makes the catches look easy. The receiver I really liked was #71 CJ Tarver. He has to be the smallest guy on the field. He has really good moves and always catches with his hands and makes the catches look easy as well. I don't recall him dropping a ball all practice. Brescasin....looks like a bigger and stronger Etienne to me, perhaps not as fast but much better at route running than when I first saw Jade. Only problem for me is that he seldom catches with his hands, and that is likely to be a problem for him, unless he can correct that. Jaymar Johnson also had some good moments, but not consistently. Jason Barnes and Donavan Kemp were not two of the best. Running Backs...I can only say that we will have very good competition at this position. I liked Nic Grigsby, and at first I thought Kevin Smith just looked slow, but later on though he had some moves. Interesting how we have several pretty small guys and he stands out as being considerably bigger. I didn't have any problem with Cotton Paris either, both those guys look like they can play. I also really liked Errol Brooks...has really good moves and is very fast. CJ Tarver is listed as a RB/KR but he played mostly receiver. I didn't really pay any attention to the OL One defence Matt Pierce stood out for me, hustles all over the field and always looking to make a play. Briggs and Eisho seemed to be platooning every play. Etch at one point yelled out "practice like professionals" He was mad. He also had a good tongue lashing for Briggs at one point. Bob Wylie is "huge" and it's all around the middle. I really fear for his health! liram hajrullahu booted some great kicks with lots of hang time. Brett Maher was pretty good too, but shanked a couple. Lots and lots of off sides which can be expected when no one had their timing down yet. Well that's my take on Day 1...might go this afternoon as well. -

Actually, David Asper and Brock Bulbuck spent $500,000 of the Bombers' money to maintain full control over the Board. Shame on the BOD for allowing their personal issues to cost the club this much Actually, David Asper and Brock Bulbuck spent $500,000 of the Bombers' money to maintain full control over the Board. Shame on the BOD for allowing their personal issues to cost the club this much money. So you think it was a good idea to allow Sammy to abuse his power and force one of his (unqualified as he has no connections to the City of Winnipeg) buddies onto the Bombers BOD, in exchange for $500,000 in taxpayer dollars? Okay. What difference does it make??? If they get someone from the City of Winnipeg, it is still going to be one of Sam Katz's friends. You know, since he is the Mayor of the city? All this is, is the Board of Directors pissing money down the drain because the three guys in charge can't allow someone else with money and influence onto their Board. Oh give it a rest....they were supposed to know that the City would play dirty pool because they didn't sanction a member on the board who was a friend of Sammy's and had no position on City Council or the Administration? -

It's a retweet not an offical tweet! Give the team more credit than that! -
And are we sure all coaching staffs in the CFL would coach replacement players? It's not really like they are management in a regular business.

Important notice regarding the future of MBB.com

Congrats on the 1st Anniversary! and all the work both on and off the forum by all the Admins and Moderators! -
'Overpaying' is just referring to how Taman's move to get Craig Butler was portrayed... basically, you have a chance to get your guy and ditch two picks to move up. Briggs was one of the guys I was hoping would be around for our second pick - not a shot at Walters at all. We finally have a GM who is acting like a CFL GM. The Butler pick was lucky more than anything, they were going to take Hugh O'Neill but Buono got him a pick earlier. Got him mixed up with Hurl... I think that's who Taman traded up for - anyway, Walters still reminds me of Taman. The only similarity between the two is that they are both GM's
-
Thanks Rich, appreciate the info and the work that goes on behind the scenes!
-
Overpaying? What rounds are you talking about here. They wanted the guy and had to move up to get him. Give Walters a break!

LOL - every time I post that story on an internet forum, some angry Vegan bozo responds with crap like this. So you are saying that pale skinny vegan kid who had no energy was just a figment of my buddy's imagination? What a joke. Hey, I am sure there are healthy vegan people somewhere, and even healthy vegan kids, but the adults have to be very careful to ensure those growing kids still get all of the nutrients they need, and I'm sorry but eating a few carrots and a hamburger bun isn't going to do it for a 12 year old boy. They need a lot of calories and protein. And if you don't know what you are doing, and just following some kind of stupid fad to sound cool to your fellow Vegan pals and Yuppie buds then you need to actually do the work so you don't hurt your kids and stunt their growth. That's all I am saying. Not really that's all you're saying! Your bias is showing tremendously! You really don't have a clue what you're talking about, but have convinced yourself that you do. Or you simply don't care, and anytime someone mentions that they chose a different way of eating/living other than yours, you start calling them names like Vegan Bozo. Hope you have fun going through life with your eyes closed!

Sheets pleads guilty to possession of weed
blitzmore replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Impaired is impaired, I have absolutely 0 tolerance for people driving when they are not in the right mindset. Too many people can't drive properly at the best of times get the **** heads who take mind altering substances off the road entirely and we're all safer for it. It's this attitude that "pot is fine I can drive" that is the worst thing. If people want it leagalized going to have to be responsible about it.have you ever driven after a joint? Toke off a pipe? No?? Shocking that you still have an opinion about it tho..A drunk driver sees double, is slower then molasses and has a superman complex behind the wheel.. A stoned driver drives the speed limit (thinks hes speeding while doing so) is overly cautious and paranoid everyone is going to plow into them... Essentially an elderly driver.. This is from personal experience and from watching idiot friends... but i can guarentee you that a drunk driver is much MUCH more dangerous then a stoned one.. who cares? they're both dangerous! What a ridiculous comment! -
Sheets pleads guilty to possession of weed
blitzmore replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The laws may be silly, but this is not about the law. It is about an athlete who has a chance to make a major career advancement and threw it away. His agent and common sense would have told Sheets that he should be on his best behaviour, but his arrogance and/or stupidity overruled that. And your assertion that pot opens up the mind is very questionable. It produces a perception that competence is enhanced but it is actually the opposite. How many times have you heard someone say that a few drinks makes him a better driver? How many times you heard "I was so stoned I couldn't drive right..." ? Hell, I'd even say a tired driver is a more scary driver then a one baked off some weed.. All drivers who do not have full control of their faculties, whether it be from alcohol, drugs, or distracted driving are scary! -
LOL this reminded me of a story a friend of mine told me about how his 12 year old son had a bunch of his friends over for his birthday party. My friend was at the barbecue all afternoon grilling up tons of burgers and hotdogs as of course 12 year old boys can eat constantly, when this little pale kid comes up to him and asks him just for a hamburger bun and some carrots. Apparently his parents were forcing him to be a "vegan" and he couldn't eat any meat. My friend said this kid had no energy, and could barely play with the other boys. He looked pale and so unhealthy. I get it if you believe in this organic thing and want to waste your money on it, but turning your poor kids into vegans is just plain wrong. You're just showing your ignorance on this topic more and more. There are Vegans who are elite athletes, run marathons, win weight lifting competitions. Some pale kid...give me a break! Of course there are, however you have to actually put a lot of work into it if you want to make sure your body is getting all the nutrients it needs. If you just eat vegetables you're not going to be all that healthy. What really bothers me is the notion that people get that certain lifestyles are healthiest. You can be healthy eating a hell of a lot of variety of things, it's just a matter of having a good nutritional background to actually understand what you need and where you can get it from. Blitz, you're also talking about full grown adults. I do believe you can raise kids as vegans, but you probably have to do it right and like 17 said, give them the correct nutrients they need to grow. Kids will need some kind of supplementation for the nutrients they're not getting from beef as well. Personally, I'm not a fan of veganism, and I think kids need meat to get the correct nutrients in their diet. These kids are growing after all and they need good amounts of protein. But after adulthood, go nuts with veganism or vegetarianism or whatever you want. But while you're growing, I think it's best to have more then just fruits and veggies. But that's just my opinion. Well that's great that is your opinion, but if you do some research you will learn that vegans get all the protein they need without eating meat. About the only thing that vegans don't get is vitamin B12, so a supplement is in order. It is an absolute falacy that meat is required to get sufficient amounts of protein...kids or adults

So a fifth rounder who doesn't become a starter but is a special teams stud, is a bad draft pick? Nope. Pretty much any 5th rounder who becomes a stud in the CFL is a good draft pick. All draft picks aren't equal and Rid's stats treat them as equal. Good starters are worth more than average starters, who are worth more than just starting because they are an NI or because teams need a 7th starter, who are worth more than a good backup, who are worth more than fringe players. First rounders are expected to become starters. If they don't then they are bad picks, even if they stay on the team for a while. There are draft picks who hang on for a few years just because the NI's on a specific team aren't very good. I wouldn't call them good draft picks they just got lucky t be drafted by the right team. There are high draft picks who teams keep around mostly because they were drafted high. They take up a roster spot for a couple of years, but aren't good draft picks. Being a starter means a lot. It means your one of the top 7 NI's on the team. These are the guys we really need to draft. And that's what they're trying to accomplish this year.

Bombers Reject Rabb for Board of Directors

No i'm not upset about your facts because you didn't post any...which was the whole reason I responded to your post. Doesn't even make sense. When you have something worthwhile to add, feel free. Because trying to shout down any opinion that doesn't line up with yours is just juvenile. State your opinions as opinions, and your facts as facts and we'll be good. You didn't. The end. -

Limits which can be up to 12 years long depending on the member. Not surprisingly, Asper qualifies for this upper limit and will be on the Board long after the rest of the members' terms have ended. And the guy with the second-most pull, Gene Dunn, is next up to retire (wow what a coincidence), leaving the Board fully under Asper's control. Rabb would be a good thing for the Board, the reason they are giving for rejecting him is a total red herring. It is 100% political. Asper doesn't like Rabb, so he doesn't get on the board. It really is that simple. And where is your evidence to support what you state as a fact? What do you want, an audio recording of Asper saying he doesn't like the guy? Obviously I do not have such a thing. Then perhaps you shouldn't post things like they are fact, when in fact they are not! -

Working directly with operations people and Sam's friends is precisely what got them into trouble over the fire halls. It is much better for them to deal with someone who is in a position to make decisions, and be able to deal with the Managers of the various departments They actually didn't involve the operations people, which caused the problem, just Sheegl and the leadership of the fire department, who had no clue about land development and building and unsurprisingly they got scammed by a land developer. I call the leadership of the fire department operations personnel...managers....chiefs....call them what you will...but that just makes the point that Sam's buddy should not be appointed to the Board, or there is likely to be all sorts of back room deals going on, that other members of the Board may not even know about, just like certain members of City Council and certain departments were unaware in the Fire Dept Scandal. -
Gawd! There were some stupid questions! Would be better if they just listened to what Kyle is actually saying!
