I think Walters knows exactly what he is doing, and has thought about all sorts of scenarios. I applaud him and the staff for taking a positive step and doing something the other regimes have not bothered to do. He is doing his homework...good on him!

Bombers add RB Kevin Smith to neg list
blitzmore replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hope we can find that Corey Holmes, Marcus Thigpen type that Bellefeuille has been able to use successfully in the past. Yeah Keith Stokes was one of those versatile players for us, have to find a guy like that again. minus the fumbleitis... -
so what?

pathetic!

I would say the downfall was the coaching way more then the guys they brought in. Lots of the random new guys were quite talented and played great. Sure they found some good rookies, any team who is looking and has connections could...but they often didn't find them for the positions that were needed at the time. Mack was too stubborn to deal with other teams, and didn't fix the QB position and the offensive line. He also hired Burke as the head coach. Your blind deference of the man is amusing.

They not going to replace Perry Pearn...and why would Barry Trotz want an ass't job?

Two things: Flames GM Brian Burke said pro hockey players don't get paid to have fun. They are paid to work very hard & to win. Jim Barker said pro football players are not paid to play. They are paid to win. Vince Lombardi put the fear of God into his players. He was a mean SOB when the Packers didn't win & almost as bad when they won. He was a taskmaster. Jimmy Johnson cut his starting fullback when his fumble cost the Cowboys a game. Tom Landry was distant, shrewd, cold & calculating. Even players who played for him for a decade or more said they never got to know who the real Tom Landry was. He never let anyone get close as he felt he needed to be aloof to keep his players on their toes at all times in order to create a culture of winning. With fear thrown into the mix as well. Wally Buono will cut a player on a whim if he thinks he can bring in someone better & cheaper. He cut the CFL's all time leading receiver in Allen Pitts after the 2000 season because he said he needed the money Pitts would have got to pay receiver Travis Moore who was younger & cheaper than Pitts. Buono often referred to Pitts as someone he thought of as a son but when it came to money the father-son comparison ended there & Pitts was let go. Purely business on Wally's part. . The players in the CFL may not have the multimillion dollar contracts their NFL counterparts have but they are still are professionals & are still expected to put out on Game Day in the CFL. So, my point is this is a cutthroat business. Winning is everything. Entertainment is nothing. So, in closing, I say the hell with entertainment. I want wins & lots of them. I don't care how ugly or how pretty. Just wins. I don't want an entertaining defense. I want a shut down defense. Etcheverry better coach up his players to be more than just entertaining. If Etch fails he should be fired. looks like you might be disappointed no matter what team you desire wins from. Teams go in cycles...no matter who the coaches and players are. The only way to achieve your goal for wins only and not entertainment, is to keep switching to winning teams, not loyalty to one.

Hopefully he'll be selling radio time only. . . . not negotiating a new roof for the station! Yep that's Nasty alright...

You sure do love jumping the gun. A proven loser with a bad track record...not really jumping anything... Actually that is not true. Two trips to the Grey Cup as a DC doesn't make a bad track record. Remember players have a lot to do with whatever sucess a DC has as well

Especially the ones who nod there head up and down when he asks does every get it but in fact they don't get it and poof, it's deleted off the smartboard screen. It reminds me of sitting in math class and my teacher asking if there is any questions as he's erasing everything off the chalkboard saying how easy this stuff is. My mark that term, 33%. Glad you're not the defensive coordinator in that case!

Rumour: Jets/Isles to Deal on Draft Day?
blitzmore replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
It's always interesting...that the majority of self professed experts, are those who are not in the dressing room, are not part of the team's management, or team coaches!...but apparently know what the coaches don't. -
Not really a head scratcher at all...he didn't perform well enough! Forgive me if I don't quite agree with Mack and Burke's assessment of talent last year... If you watched at training camp it was obvious, which has nothing to do with Mack and Burke, other than the fact they saw what a lot of us who were there saw.

Keep Jokinen, Trade Kane?
blitzmore replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
That's because they're smarter than you give them credit for. You are always down on managment, doesn't seem to matter what team. -
Agreed. I'd like him to come here and start, if only to help teach Willy for the first year. But if we don't get him, I don't think it will be a big deal. Although, if we did get him, and put him as our QB2, we'd have a seriously good backup to Willy. Any of the above options are good to me. As long as we have a clear cut QB1 and QB2 and not flip flop between 2. I'd like to know exactly what it is that you think Glenn will teach Willy.... Considering he's been in the league for almost 14 years and a fairly successful QB for about 8-9 of those years...I'd say a lot. and specifically that is? More than Khari taught him in Sask? Are you that ridiculous that you're asking me such a stupid question? You want me to tell you what specifically one QB is going to teach another one? He's going to teach him how to dance that's what he's going to do. Seriously, he'd teach him what he knows, that's what he'd teach him. Just like any other QB. If you think Glenn has nothing to teach anyone, you're out to lunch. A good player can always learn something from someone else, whether it be to run, dodge incoming hits, throw, read defenses, etc... Plus, you're picking one small part of what I said above. Well you were the one who said Glenn can teach him...I just asked you what specifically! You are using it as one of the arguments for getting Glenn..I disagree...You're the one with you're panties in a knot! Obvious you don't have the answers!

Great Bombers article from Gary Lawless today
blitzmore replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Part of a reporter's job is to stir up enough controversy to make the read interesting, whether you agree or disagree, and Lawless seems to have done that. As far as optimism for the upcoming season is concerned- set your WABAC machine to 2013 at this time and look at the gloom that surrounded the team then. Mack was spinning his wheels, the QB situation was a laughing-stock of the league, and just about everyone knew the Bombers were going to implode. I'll take 2014, thank you very much. Yeah and...our new guys still have "0" PROVEN qb's (although the QB's we have now should be better, that doesn't say anything at all as it shouldn't take much at all to get better there! Release Goltz & Boltus and bam!! we're better at QB) Our O-line isn't any better at all! We lost our best Canadian. We only really have maybe 3 Canadian Starters worth anything (Watson, Greaves and...hmmm maybe Kohlert & maybe Alexander.. borderline) We are still not a good football team!! No one can say we are until we see it on the FIELD!! Until then please again spare me the imagined optimism! if you want to be spared...don't come and read! -

Great Bombers article from Gary Lawless today
blitzmore replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It was Kyle that said he went through the budget with a fine tooth comb, and that he was going to move money around...He may have gotten more money from the CEO, but he is still doing a very good job regardless of your personal biases! -
Some food for thought from Farhan Lalji
blitzmore replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
He may not of officially had the title, but for all intents and purposes yes he was. I believe the phrase is "intensive purposes". Actually it's "For all intents and purposes" -

Etcheverry announced as Defensive Coordinator (finally)
blitzmore replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
First we NEED a RB... seeing as simpson and ford have not been re-signed. You can't seriously be worried that we're not going to find running backs...that's the easiest of all... -
