Burke is still trying to blame lack of performance on being rookie laden. Seems to me Hamilton's defence is a heck of a lot better than last year with lots of new personnel. The sooner he goes the happier I'll be... http://bluebombers.com/video/index/id/90859

Burke is an idiot! All he is doing is listening to comments about the future from Miller and Walters and spitting them out like he always does. Walters talked a long time ago about the need to revamp the scouting. Anyone really think Burke could come up with an idea like that on his own? This is coming from a guy who said he knows nothing about offence.
-
does he? what proof do we have of that exactly? It's one more area where Walters has a lot to prove. I'll point out that his one big NI addition to the team so far has been foster who hasn't done anything noticable except drop passes. His solution (though I put that more on the coaches too) to the kicking game was a downgrade. And he was supposed to know that how? It was Burke and Dickinson that wanted a new kicker!
-
Again...that's lame!
-
you can't do that because he's the key piece to this trade because he is the best player in the trade. Doesn't matter if he was gone anyway, the idea behind making those trades is to give something that may be gone and get something, we gave that plus something that could have been a long term solution in the draft pick. If the 2nd round pick and Neufeld have similar value then why did we include hall in the first place? Sorry people but Walters got schooled by a veteran GM on this trade. Taman gets a key piece for a grey cup try AND a pick to mitigate the loss of NI depth (someone that maybe he looses in the expansion draft anyway) Walters gets a player who may or may not be better than some of the guys on his team anyway.... trade for the sake of making a trade and he displayed poor asset management. The problem with this post is you're working under the false assumption you have any idea what Hall's trade value was around the league. if he has so little trade value that we have to pay the riders to take him then don't trade him! or just trade him for a late round pick! Terrible asset management and no amount of spinning from you guys will change that fact. and you know what, it's not unheard of for 2nd round picks to step in and start right away for teams. Didn't the stamps get a starting o-lineman in the 2nd round just this past draft? I question whether Neufeld is any better than guys like Swiston or Pencer, seems that the tackles who have trouble adjusting to guard and a team that uses 2 americans at tackle maybe should prioritize their targets a little better. Really the last trade that Walters made that everyone said was good was getting Foster and Foster hasn't done anything for this team except drop passes, at least that trade it was just player who needed to go for Foster and they didn't have to bribe the Lions with a quality draft pick. Oh! so now you're seeing that your argument is not the only valid one...so now you want to package the Foster trade as a negative for Walters. That's just lame!

Better than having him just fly off into the distance at season's end!

Source?

Sure it's easy to throw out a bunch of names. But Would you really want any of these guys? I'd rather stick with Walters over any of those washed up GM's. There are a few AGM's out there but still unproven when it comes to running a team on their own. So, you'd hire another guy trying to prove himself (Kyle Walters) over a guy (Tom Higgins) who has coached & managed two CFL teams & won a GC in Edmonton? That is why this team is so bad & has been bad for so long. We keep recycling thru the same inexperienced cheap hires to run the team. Walters has proven exactly, what??? All he should be is a caretaker GM until we hire someone else & that is it. The experienced guy we need here is Higgins. Not Tillman who is a pervert, Macciocia who is a bumbling fool, Obie & Rita who are too old. Glad you're not the President....One guy only? Not even a point in an interview in that case! Not smart!
-
Well it does prove you lack any common sense if you can't see anyone of those names would be an asset for Walters. Not all those names by any stretch of the imagination

Now Burke has found a new excuse for not getting his players ready to play "I think part of it is that Calgary’s offensive line is very good. But I just wonder a little bit too if all this stir about Alex Hall getting traded, how much effect that had on the D-line group which is a very tight-knit group. I have to believe it has an effect on Alex... "I don’t know where (the trade rumours) came from. It just says something about social media that anyone can throw something out there, whether it’s true or not and nobody has to even say their name."

GDT - Bombers @ Stamps - no GIF thread
blitzmore replied to Jacquie's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
And he will. Not sure why this is even a question of whether or not it happens. It won't happen during the season as that doesn't solve, help or change anything, but people can be sure he will be gone at the end of the season. Paul Wiecek tweet a week ago saying that the Bombers (Miller) think BUrke wasn't dealt a full deck to coach with. That there are problems with the team but he's not one of them. And Glen Suitor suggesting during the broadcast yesterday he may be brought back for the same reasons. That suggests to me that the Bombers (Miller) is leaking out info to the media suggesting the Bombers are considering NOT firing him. That's my take. I sure hope I'm wrong. Since when does what Glen Suitor says matter about anything? Bombers are not going to form the 2014 version of the Bombers on what he says -
No entirely true, Crowton put more and more of his stuff in as the year went on last year. All those improvements were credited to him putting his stuff in. The new and improved stuff for this year was done for one reason, to try and prevent Pierce from getting crippled, but PIerce can't play that way so they scrambled to try and change it... and PIerce got hurt. The real ironic part is that a quick release offence is actually something that would benefit Elliott more than Pierce. Just a giant **** up in thought process from the get go. This is me every time you bring up Elliott.... So that's why some of your posts have been about incorrect rumors lately

No, apparently he is an unhealthy scratch...he was having back spasms

Selinger promising to put fan-elected board in place

One story about Sask's Board of Directors Lifelong Rider fan joins team Laurie Powers finds her prestige has increased -- at least in her household -- now that she is a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders' board of directors. BY THE STARPHOENIX (SASKATOON)JANUARY 2, 2009 Laurie Powers finds her prestige has increased -- at least in her household -- now that she is a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders' board of directors. Brian and Laurie Powers' nine-year-old son, Easton, is highly impressed. "(Easton) has pretty much scooped my husband's season ticket, so we'll be adding an additional seat (in 2009)," says a chuckling Powers, who watches the games in Section 40 at Mosaic Stadium. "Mom is very cool now that she's on the Rider board. He had kind of started to get to the age where Dad is cooler than Mom, but I found a way to regain some bonding experiences with him. He's a diehard now. He knows more than I do.'' Powers's other child, 17-year-old Nicole, is also a Roughriders fan7. Given the affinity for football in the family, Laurie Powers notes that there was "a pile of green under the Christmas tree." Laurie Powers, a lifelong Saskatchewanian, lived in Melville (where she grew up) and Saskatoon before moving to the Regina area in 2000. The 40-year-old Powers, a chartered accountant who resides in Deer Valley, is the chief financial officer for Victoria Park Capital Inc. "I've always been a Rider fan," she says. "I grew up a couple of hours outside of Regina, so we didn't have the means to attend football games in person growing up, but we were always around the television set and radio, following the games. "Once I moved to Regina, I became a season-ticket holder. Once I joined the board, I obviously became a shareholder. It has kind of been a staple of my life, let's put it that way." Powers joined the board in April of 2008. She is one of two women on the 11-person board, with the other being Twyla Meredith. "I think (being on the board) enhances the experience," she says. "It certainly makes it a big difference. Before, where you were maybe quite vocal about things, you're a little less vocal. You realize it's maybe not quite as simple as being an armchair quarterback the whole time and realize that there's a lot more to it than what you necessarily see when you're just watching it in the stands." Powers is in the minority on the board in that she does not have a Grey Cup ring. Powers, Doug Emsley and Dennis Mulvihill are outnumbered by the board members who volunteered their time during the Grey Cup season of 2007. "There's no love lost around the board," Powers says lightheartedly. "They make sure that, with the three who are new this year, they rub it in our faces at all times. It's really unfortunate that we weren't part of that experience, but next year . . ." RIDERS' BOARD OF DIRECTORS Rob Pletch, Regina (chair) Chair, MacPherson Leslie & Tyerman law firm Roger Brandvold, Regina (vice-chair) Senior vice-president, Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital Ltd. Doug Emsley, Regina President, Emsley & Associates Grant Gayton, Regina President and chief executive officer, PrintWest Communications Ltd. Paul Hill, Regina Chair, president and chief executive officer, The Hill Companies, including Harvard Developments Inc. Twyla Meredith, Regina Acting president and chief executive officer, Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation Dennis Mulvihill, Regina Managing director, RBC Capital Markets Rory Picklyk, Saskatoon Vice-president, Stantec Architecture Ltd. Laurie Powers, Deer Valley Chief financial officer, Victoria Park Capital Inc. Doug Rogers, Regina President and co-owner, Terra Developments Inc. Mayo Schmidt, Regina President and chief executive officer, Viterra º BOARD AT A GLANCE Q Candidates for the Riders' board are brought forward in three ways -- by a nominating committee, by existing board members and by shareholders who are contacted by mail in advance of the annual meeting. Q The nominating committee consists of past presidents or past chairs who reside in Saskatchewan. Q Candidates are selected to fill vacancies as board members' three-year terms expire. Q Shareholders have the option of voting for or against each candidate on the slate. Q The board meets five to six times per year -- usually in Regina. The board has four standing committees (audit and finance, human resources, marketing, and governance). In addition, a special committee has been dedicated to Mosaic Stadium renewal. Q Directors, who volunteer their time, typically serve on two committees which meet five to six times per year. Directors typically spend more time on committee work than they do at the board table. "It's maybe the equivalent of 14 to 18 working days,'' says board chair Rob Pletch. http://www.canada.com/story_print.html?id=d39fa6e4-d4cf-43a6-b38d-99737bfa14ce&sponsor= -

It's all posturing by Selinger. His popularity is slipping badly. Even if there is ever a fans on the board they will have no power anyway. -
I don't have a choice, because if I was the CEO I would be doing extensive background checks and profiles right now, and then start the interview process when the season is over. Too easy to say oh this guy would be great or that guy would be great...and we know that how? Oh yeah, they were pretty good before about 5 years ago. Things change, management setup is different on different teams, contacts someone once had might not be contacts anymore. Their philosophy might be different that what is a comfortable fit. Maybe they want to stay in South Carolina or whatever and only be here a few days a month. One good thing...Miller owns his own personnel search agency...so that should help...fingers and toes crossed

They thought they had the right guy at the top last time....how did that work out? So what do you suggest? Stop trying to hire the right guy? no of course not...everyone is just sounding like it is simple...they could swing and miss again this time if they are not very diligent!
-
They thought they had the right guy at the top last time....how did that work out?
-
You're correct...I found out he wouldn't sign a contract as he still want to pursue the NFL...too bad!
-
Well Kory Sheets went undrafted, was picked up by the Dolphins had one carry for 5 yards and was side lined with an achillies injury and never played in the NFL again....now look at him! That may be, but you can never really compare one players injuries to another...All I'm saying is you would think they could find someone who did not have those injuries.
-
I was looking forward to seeing Randle play...instead this is what they bring in.... Mario Fannin The 2011 undrafted free agent has yet to play a down thanks to a 2011 torn ACL and 2012 torn Achilles' tendon. Even if he was healthy, he was never going to survive the numbers game in Denver. Injuries have likely wrecked Fannin's shot of ever stepping onto an NFL field.

The guy threw 78 passes in the NFL...you're trying to make him look like a vet. The only thing you're right about is the interceptions.

GDT -- Game Day: Does Anyone Still Care?
