Strike 2....... Bo's not going anywhere. Are the Bombers that dense?? Clue in, Walters. The Stamps are going to protect him. Same with some of the fanbase here. He's not leaving Calgary. Better to ask and be told No than not to ask at all...that would be dumb! Check my posts here since I posted that a few minutes ago.... Why? what would I learn about your original post, that we haven't all learned already?

What??? He clearly blamed Washington for not knocking it down, saying he is too young. He did not blame it on the O. He blames everybody for everything IN PUBLIC!

I say if we don't get Collaros, it will be the same as us not getting Reilly. We could easily have revolving QB's again next year. I would love to see Collaros with Max Hall as the backup and perhaps one of Boltus or Brown, whoever is best.

To me it looked like the Esks made adjustments to our scheme after the first quarter. I guess it takes more than four weeks to rebuild a playbook.... What gets me about the play calling is when we get down to little time left, the calls are to run the running back into the middle even though we haven't been able to do that all game. With Ford he has so much speed to the outside, run him there, takes more time off the clock and he has a chance to bust one for good yards.

Well that was good...you just did to Lawless what you're telling us not to do to Burke

At least it was good to see what someone playing safety well can do. Cauchy is a total loss and is unlikely to get better. -
So better we should all just say "Nice" things?

I've had my signature tag for the whole year...Many of us could see his tendencies a long time ago. Glad to see we cut an 82 percent kicker for one who chokes... to gain an extra 3 or 4 yards on a kickoff.

We're paying for lots of Burke's "stupids"
-
yes, and you just polished the knob of the whole BC system

Actually, we should have done that in the last half of last season... instead Burke fell in love with Buck's dreamy eyes. Now, it seems we may have ruined Goltz before he ever developed - it will take a while to get any confidence. Next up, Boltus! Goltz has been with the Bombers for 3 years. Just when was the right time for him to be developed? It was more than time to get him on the field. How many meetings can he go to if he still doesn't get it? I would have given Goltz another year or two as a real backup... yeah, now it might be too late Developing a QB takes a long time, Durant sat on the sidelines for three years I think and then still had (has) his meltdowns... same with Kevin Glenn, etc... The only thing that might speed this process up is beefing up our QB coaching staff including an ex-CFL QB on staff... but we're probably paying too many ex-employees to do that now. I'm with Wally in BC...he says what he does is... if a QB is not showing progress after two years he is gone! So in that event Justin would be gone and we wouldn't be talking about him. We need to see if any of the remaining three have what it takes for the long haul.
-
I can agree with your assessment except for one thing..Goltz is not elusive. He's like a train, once he gets the speed up he is fast. Watch Collaros, Durant, Tate, even Reilly...that' elusive! Goltz is not even close in that department.
-
Our coaches are so dumb that they probably don't realize even now, that Goltz is NOT the next franchise QB. He just can't make decisions fast enough, and is certainly not elusive in the backfield. You can work with him all you want...it's simply not going to work. His accuracy for the most part is pitiful, and everyone can make all the excused for him they want, but it's not going to ever change enough. To add to that he can't hang onto the ball. Hall hasn't had enough of a chance yet. He is taking 2nd team reps, and although he does not appear to have a strong arm, and at this point forces things when we're already down 21 points, he certainly makes much quicker decisions than Goltz and gets rid of the ball in a hurry. At least he can be worked with temporarily. Until we can swing a deal for someone else, or find someone else as other teams have done, I think Hall is the guy with Boltus and Brown as the backups. As for Boatman? I went to practice last week and he has got to be the laziest sob that I have seen in a long time. He does whatever he can to get out of doing almost anything. He plays the same way...no passion, no drive, no nothing!

Good article about Kyle Walters http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/in-touch-with-the-community-223420091.html

even when there were 2 passes that blatantly are dropped by receivers that would get you first downs and allow you another series to get yardage in addition to the yards those passes would have added on to the totals? This isn't just on the qb. when you have 12 yards passing safe to say it's a collective pants shitting. 2 dropped passes does not a half make! When you lock onto your favorite QB at the moment, you really lock on!
-
Too bad our defence did not play like this all year! If they had we probably would have had at least a couple more wins. Why not be more aggressive with blitzes? we're losing with a 4 man rush, so why is the coaching staff not able to figure out that what we we're doing was not working. I'm just hoping that we will not revert to the passive type of defence we were playing! Go for it! I'm still thinking though that Burke's personality and projected onto Crehan, makes them coach scared. I think it's pretty obvious that we have not yet found our franchise QB. Goltz can run, but that's just about it. keep him as a backup though for red zone runs, and to see if there is anyway we can make him more accurate. Not good for the receivers to have to climb the ladder and leave themselves exposed, or be down in the dirt to catch his passes, that is if he is not throwing directly to the opposition. On second thought make him a receiver! Defence won the game for us, all of them! some more than others. Would really like to be able to see the new Qb's perform.

per twitter Bombers ran a mini-camp of sorts today; worked out 5-6 new players, mostly DB's; will likely be a signing or two out of this.

I'm done!

Good grief! Never said he should be the next permanent GM...get your point always did...just said give the guy a break right now! He's trying his best...what else are they supposed to do right at the moment? I'm for doing due diligence, and an extensive search at the end of the season, but several folks have been jumping on Walters already. No one at this point knows how good or not, he will be, or is capable of. All good GM's had to start somewhere, and even some good ones from various teams have been fired over the years, for various reasons which existed at the time. It just irks me when I see someone say he will not be any good for 5 to 10 years is all.

I don't think it was your saying a young executive should get experience but wanting to know why you think it would take another 5-10 years for Walters to have enough experience to be a GM. Hufnagel, Austin, Buono, Higgins, Popp and Barker are just a few examples of people who had coaching experience but little to no front office experience when they got their first GM job. And no I am not comparing Walters to those guys and I'm not even saying I think Walters should get the job. Just asking why 5-10 more years experience rather than say 3-4 more years? Jacquie, here's the thing... Walters is a young guy in his mid 30's. He has very little experience as a CFL coach & has only a few months experience as an AGM. He needs seasoning & experience. But I daresay learning under Mack isn't the way to do it. He needs to work under someone who is a winner. I think a guy who has been an AGM for 5 years or so is ready to step up which is only an arbitrary number in my mind. In 10 years Walters will be in his mid 40's & could still work another 20 years after that in the CFL. Walters is just getting started in his career. . Actually he turned 40 in July. Did you know that Walters and Austin both have the same amount of coaching experience (10 years). Austin has 3 years experience running a football program at the college level while Walters has 4 years. Yes I know Austin was running an Ivy League program and Walters a CIS program however I would think the biggest difference between running the two programs was budget. Again I'm not saying that Walters should get the job. I agree that a little more experience would be good but I disagree with arbitrarily picking a number and saying this is when he'll be ready. Forty is very young to be a CFL executive. That means Kyle Walters will still have 20, 25 -30 years of work life ahead of him in the CFL if he is successful. But... you do agree with me that Walters not ready now. And that is my point. Blitzmore wants to give Walters the job NOW. After 6 months as an AGM based on what??? Just what qualifies him now to be our new GM on a permanent basis? Blitzmore came after me saying what I said about experience was ridiculous. That I was being negative. When I flat out asked him to explain why he thinks Walters is ready now to be the Bombers GM permanently he backed off because he had nothing to say. I never said I didn't like Walters or that I don't think he'll ever be a CFL GM someday. I just believe the team has to go in a different direction. I think to really understand the league & how it works, I do believe an apprenticeship of at least 4 or 5 years is needed. Actually, never did I say he should get the job now or even imply it! I said give him a break, he could turn out to be the best GM ever, who knows? That's what I said. I never said he should get the job now or even next year, Your comment is still ridiculous, how the hell could you possibly know how long it would take him to be a good GM? and 5-10 years? on what basis could you possibly make that statement? That's why I called you out. I couldn't possibly answer the question about why Walters in ready now...because I never said that. What part of give the guy a break can't you understand? He's not ready now, and may not be next year...he's been in the job now for what 3 or 4 weeks? What's he done so far? First thing he did was contact all the other GM's to mend fences, and tell them we're listening for possible future deals... He brought in another QB He brought in a vet DB He brought in two receivers one from the NFL and the other who performed very well in the Sask game He brought in a kicker and fired another Instead of just going on the road to the Hamilton game and watching, he went early and scouted several CIS camps According to reports he would have drafted differently after he did all the scouting, but was hamstrung by Mack, and we would have some of those players now. He's indicated he's going to work on the Scouting system down South He's said no one will work harder than him. So yeah...guess he's been busy real busy...and might learn a thing or two...well let's see maybe in 5-10 years. So let me spell it out for you in real simple terms "I am not saying he's ready now...or even next year!!!" Never did I just said give the guy a break...you're the one who with you're great knowledge of GM development time said it would take 5-10 years
-
You're right 17...but no way I would ever want to room with him...end of it for me.
-
That's ridiculous! What's wrong about not wanting to make a guy GM who has half a season as an AGM and half a season as an interm GM? The comment was in 5-10 years...what part of ridiculous don't you get? He's with us for the rest of the year, but we have people saying he will never make a good GM, and some saying only in 5-10 years like they really know that. Not! I say give the guy a break. You keep harping about giving Walters a break. Have you not clued into the fact that's all the Bombers do but give their buddies a break by hiring them? Why do you think we keep losing? Because we hire inexperienced people into key coaching & management positions who think they know what they are doing but don't. And because they come cheap. Or are a friend of someone on the team like a coach or Board member so they get hired. Our track record is hiring the friend of so & so. And the result is hiring inexperienced peopleis they come in on the cheap coming in & are expensive on the way out as we are paying them to sit around teiddling their thumbs after they're fired. Mike Kelly was buds with Lyle Bauer. Joe Mack was friends with Joe Pop & Paul Robson & look what happened? The hiring process was all about who you knew & not what you knew. Most fans don't want Walters as our GM because he is inexperienced. Not because they don't like him or don't think he has a future with the team. They want someone with a winning track record at the helm for a change because the Bombers have shown in the past, rookies in that position don't work. Yeah, 5-10 years when Walters has the proper experience working under someone who knows how to win. Not apprenticed for 6 months by Joe Mack. There's been personnel guys & assistant GMs in this league who have worked under people for a lot longer with success than 5-10 years. I'm totally clued in to your negative attitude about EVERYTHING! That's the only argument you have??? You have no other comeback. Nice discussion on your part. The only comeback you have is I'm negative. Well, wash, rinse, repeat. Boo freaking hoo. Well, hit the ignore button then. Since all you want to do is get insulting because you've got nothing else to say well ... Can't help it if you make stupid comments. Nothing to discuss with you....you make ridiculous comments that it will take 5 to 10 years for our acting GM to amount ot anything. It's shouldn't be insulting when it's the truth. Truth hurts doesn't it? No, talking to you does Kyle. Again, you have no comeback. You can't even argue your point. Do me a favor hit the ignore button. Kyle???? I don't have to argue my point...I just said give the guy a break and let him develop....you're the one who said he wouldn't for 5 to 10 years like you really know that. Your shtick is that you just spout off without thinking what you're really saying. Ignore yourself!
