  1. More hires and retentions without the approval of a GM......wake up
  2. I guess the brain idiots realized if they didn't do this by Thurs. they would be stuck until after the Cup. More outstanding foresight by the Board of Old Boys. Now the similar exhaustive search for GM can begin. Similar to that of Buchko and Miller. Miller will be the defacto, closet GM regardless of or if he can find a suitable puppet other than Walters. Groundhog Day....... 4 more years of bad football.
  3. I predict Bombers fail to make the playoffs in the West in 2014
  4. I would suggest that someone who can stategically manage a game is critical. Burke hasn't shown any of that ability. Neither did LaPo. LaPo looks like a genius now because he can watch replays and tape all week and analyze the crap out of it all over and over. Far different than a game .
  5. So those advocating Burke as DC are going to saddle an incoming HC and GM with a DC he may not want and a PP guy he may not want. Guess you are setting him up to play the recurring blame game. These weren't my guys. Stop the cycle of fan abuse.
  6. Perhaps an examination of Tate's injury record going back into college might be in order. He has a long and detailed history of injury problems hat have continued into his pro carrier. I might think that Huff would love to parcel him off after the season and get something for a player he will likely risk losing in the expansion draft.
  7. Not sure intriguing is the word I would use. Perhaps misguided? The discussions about HC and GM seem to turn into either a flavour of the month, a popularity contest or who was the latest or last name someone heard. I give you examples of Duane Forde, Matt Dunnigan as prospective GMs? Based on what demonstrated working knowledge , management skills and experience. As for HC, the likes of Stubler, Berry, Cortez , Marshall and LaPolice are failed experiments. Have people thought to examine why these gentleman have failed as HCs? The skill set is far removed from CoOrdinator or Assistance Coach to those necessary to be a HC. Hence the challenge of predicting the percentage of success in taking that gamble. I might be inclined to first interview the GMs that hired those HCs and ask them some pointed questions as to why that felt these guys had failed as HCs. What were the things that they seem to lack in making the transition? I might also suggest that those responsible for the hiring of Mack and Buchko might be held accountable for those erroneous hires. I also might be concerned that some of those people are still in a position to make some or have currently made some decisions they are not skilled to make.
  8. Thank you. As someone has stated it would be unfair for coaching staffs that are likely not to get rehired to be left in the dangling for the month of Nov.
  9. Hard to ignore that contributing to the success of a winning team is also not a strong contributing influence. I equate it to the Conn Smythe trophy for MVP in the Stanley Cup playoffs. That award rarely goes to a player on the losing team regardless of their contribution in the playoffs.
  10. It is a memo circulated to the teams by the cfl office. It does pertain specifically to the week if the grey cup. The notion of that being the entire focus should be simply that of the grey cup.
  11. Ford got on because no one else in the east had a healthy enough RB. January much like last year also got on , at least to his credit due to durability , others also struggled with injuries at the OT spot.
  12. Calgary is not prepared to pay Tsoumpas the kind of money Sask overpaid LaBatte. They operate on a scaled down version of the NFL. Certain positions dictate a certain salary scale. They believe that you stay within that scale. That was why they let Archibald go to BC. So they may let the bidding war win out for Tsoumpas.
  13. It will be interesting to see if the league considers that to be tampering ?
  14. Can I ask something? Why does a new HC and yet to be hired GM have no say in their Player Personnel guy? They have no relationship, history or working knowledge of him.
  15. The difference in Sask? An experienced GM and a president that didn't want to be the GM
  16. Isn't that refreshing some people actually think a permanent GM in association with "his" head coach should be responsible for hiring a staff. There are already reasons to believe that this doesn't necessarily seem to be the process going on here.
  17. There is always a calculated level of ticket drop off after a season. There will be again , some will blame Burke, poor record, ticket price increase, parking , access to the Stadium. Take your pick. I would suggest that most Clubs will contact cancelling ticket holders to poll their reasons. This is what smart teams do in an effort to identify and make possible corrections.
  18. Thanks...are the Bombers hiring a good ambassador, charismatic , motivator? Or a head coach ?
  19. You maybe more likely to get a QB out of Toronto with Winnipeg playing in the west next season. Toronto will only play Winnipeg twice. a western team might be less likely to trade to Winnipeg with the prospect of playing that qb 3 times and a forth in possible preseason game.
  20. Why does permancey change these types of situations is my concern?
  21. Was that a play n words? Wade thru unnecessary real news? Good one Dee
  22. The envelop please.....oh ya not to be opened until after the grey cup.
  23. We could amass another inexperienced coaches with a history of having been great players in their time. Nice hires guys.
