  1. Whether the Stadium deal has or has not. Anything to do with the Comish isn’t really the point. The CFL got too far ahead on this expansion without any real foundation as to if or how this stadium was going to get built. A 6,000 person interest level on tickets is hardly a basis to believe this is viable.
  2. This is a Trump diversion...takes the focus away from the CBA
  3. And you know what his situation, family and personal circumstances were that may have impacted his decision.....how exactly?
  4. Argue all you want....Again it was literally a bonus to sign. Part of the reason that bonus clause was instituted was it gave import players a preferred reduced tax rate as an incentive to play in Canada. If you write in a conditional clause as a report and pass the medical as protection against the no shows it is not taxed at the preferred rate....hence the players desire for the signing bonus.
  5. The consideration for Durant was he signed the contract. By definition in contractural law the signing of the contract fullfiled the one and only condition of a “ signing bonus”.
  6. Durant got a signing bonus....there are no conditions as they relate to it.....it is as stated a bonus for signing his name only. The issue as to whether he was suspended is that a player can only remain suspended until the date of free agency.
  7. Great deal getting a Bighill back....huge....biggest sigh of relief from Ritchie Hall. Both sides win.....Bighill had Walters by the balls and he knew it.
  8. Forgive but.....are we now going back to the import non import days? If these Mexican players are now being reclassified as non imports....so be it. But to believe that they can now compete with the caliber of players coming out of the NCAA is somewhat naive. While I appreciate the need to expand the revenue streams and audience base doing it on the assumption that Mexico is an actual talent pool is at best a complete stretch.
  9. It is called posturing.....why is there an expectation that this process will be any different than past negotiations.....it won’t. Like it or not it is the way it is.
  10. Like any negotiation everyone is looking for leverage. The league knows the players were last paid in a November and the longer and slower it goes the less money they have left from the season.....historically this is exactly how it has gone.....squeeze the players until they are broke.
  11. Perhaps a little premature to right Jennings off so early. Experience and coaching......guessing you weren’t a big AC fan when he came into the league either....how did that turn out?
  12. Bighill’s ties maybe more family and geography than with the previous regime.
  13. Eric manages to outwear his welcome one way or another everywhere he has been. Likely it happened in Hamilton especially with Austin gone.
  14. Why do people feel a need to speculate about someone's personal professional aspirations?
  15. Smart teams like Calgary set a budget for players by position. They don’t over pay for FA and Huff’s son does a good job of finding talent hence the stability of that franchise.
  16. The only deals being done right now are by clubs who are confident they have 2018 Cap space remaining. The league deliberately held off on allowing off season bonuses to put the squeeze on players. The league has no real interest of need to rush into a new CBA , similar to the late date on the last CBA. The difference now is the players have now have no off season money to tide them over.
  17. Not really about how many workouts....more about who ponies up a big signing bonus.
  18. The only concern about the fact that this debate is never going to be resolved is the fact that history tends to repeat itself....lol.
  19. Where does Marc Washington end up?
  20. someone once suggested that those empty seats were at the Rum Hut. People choose to believe what they want.
  21. Hohoho.....fan.....by definition coms from the word fanatic. I have no expectation that there is any direct connection between objectivity and subjectivity. Having spent 30 years in professional sport I understand that teams are dependent upon their “fan base”. I attended a sports marketing conference and the speaker emphasized that given the fact that winning and losing is a 50-50 proposition the onus on team is to sell the notion of “hope”....hope for the future. Forgive me if I don’t quality as a sports fan. I watch sports in hope of seeing great plays, execution, competition and athletisism where the outcome maybe in doubt and might hinge on the final minute, the last pass, shot or play regardless of the team, player or sport.
  22. People also seem to know what or who other people know.....curious how that works?
  23. Most coaches have a window or clause that allows them to move for an upgrade to a HC position without any element of compensation.
  24. The difficulty in elevating assistants or co ordinators to head coaches is the fact that head coaching is completely different in terms of your roll and responsibilities. It is difficult to predict how an individual will respond to that new roll. Dickenson had the benefit of transitioning from QB....clearly needing the ability to formulate, conceptualize, construct and execute an offence and then work his way up to becoming a head coach. It will be interesting to see what transpires in Hamilton, B.C. and Toronto next season.
  25. With a footnote that win being against a team without a QB....ultimately pro sports is about winning. Clearly with that playoff win we have solidified things for another year.
