The high end Nationals that are legitimate starters / players get paid. The low end special teasers don't get paid. Where teams run into trouble is they believe a ST guy can transition into a starter, they pay him accordingly and he doesn't pan out.....case in point Hurl.

3-Year Contract Extensions For Walters and OShea
DR. CFL replied to JCon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Khari failed to realize that the older you get the more important conditioning and training becomes in staying at a high level of performance. As with a lot of athletes priorities often change. His focus became more on his family, his business interests with Miller and on acting. -

The bigger issue with Mack was his complete lack of scouting, recruiting, evaluating and understanding the importance of Canadian players. -
Game speed is game speed......practice is practice.....let the QB throw, don't touch the QB....seriously? there is a difference between getting a QB some reps and throwing him to the wolves. I wonder how much leaving Willy in there to constantly get pounded contributed to his rapid decline?
-
Not sure how you develop a QB when they. Don't actually get an opportunity to play. Willy had to dig himself a 10 foot deep grave before the other guy got a chance and he actually had CFL experience.
-
You can like or hate who you want but success in this league is predicated on your QB, experience at QB and on your depth at QB. Substitute whatever names you like in the equation but until bending FAs are signed there are more blanks then answers.
-
Glenn wasn't the guy Ottawa wanted either but until they had Burris signed they realized they better have someone else will n place. This franchise is living proof you live and die based on your QB and your QB depth. Like him or not if Nicholis goes the next guy you might be chasing is Glenn. The haters will be all over that one.

word is Mack might be the new AGM in Montreal. We can only hope. -
Walter's better get his QB under contract before Montreal opens their wallets and signs him when he is a FA.

That's 2 years and 2 training staffs fired in Sask. Next group better get a long term deal with an exit bonus clause. -
Not sure where the notion of an NFL tryout clause came from? A player can verbally agree to return to his previous team but he must be waived and released from his current CFL contract prior to signing in the NFL.
-
PS.....they better solidify their O line as well. They have FA o linemen with either visions of the NFL or big coin and are already at a disadvantage playing with 3 Internationals in terms of the ratio.
-
I suggest that attempting to solidify the QB situation is a priority. MOS or any HC in this league is only as good as their QB. This franchise and every other franchise has proven that. What makes a winning HC a winning QB.
-
The luxury Ottawa has is they have been in the Cup the last 2 years and just won it. Playoff $$$$. They host next season's Cup. And look at the QB rosters and instability in the East going into 2017 and they might have another easy road into the Cup again.

Why is Hall to blame for an undersized front 7 that can't stop the run? -
As good as the secondary is and they are arguably the best in the CFL, and as athletic as the LBs are the front seven are under sized and have repeatedly had the ball run down their throats. Some will argue how ineffective Hall's scheme is but those were the ponies up front he was given.

The other significant issue with rookies is the fact that the CFL season is basically twice the length of their college season. The grind of playing what amounts to a second season in the same year takes both a physical and mental toll on rookies.

It is often the media ( those who at least pay attention at practice) who discover players not previously listed and accounted for on rosters. Tricks like duplicate numbers at practice, no numbers on jerseys or mixed up jersey numbers have been us d to hide players. If you ain't cheating you ain't trying. Just ask New England. -
Not sure you can burn your Barker dolls until you see what Toronto's next guy up can do. He obviously knew he couldn't afford Ray and Harris, and was confident enough to trade Gale.
-
In the NHL goalies get hooked in and out on a regular basis and there doesn't seem to be a big deal made about it. Pull a QB for a series or two, make sure they understand and not make it life and death. Sometimes see things from the sidelines or calming yourself down can be productive. As for throwing him out with the bath water. a) pretty premature, not sure there is a current plan B, not sure that saddling Willy with LaPos offence is any fairer or better than MBs offence.

Does a blow out against the Eskimos cost MOS his job?
DR. CFL replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
What's the difference between the " vote of confidence" and the " kiss of death" ? Sweet f....all. The clock is ticking on that entire crew and the alarm bells are deafening. -
Right now Toronto's unproven back up may have more TD producing drives than Willy

The games become long and arduous. Someone makes a great play and you hold your breath waiting for "flag on the play" between penalties and challenge flags there is no flow to the game. I long for the days when you just let the boys play. -

MOS is Plan A there clearly is no viable Plan B. -
Asper had tried to get BT to come back before Mack was hired. BT declined said he wasn't interested.
