You still have to factor in the lost revenue when the game's capacity was significantly reduced. Lower prices for tickets while obtaining maximum capacity plus additional ancillary revenue from concessions and other sources. The fact that the game was not a pre sellout at a reduced capacity should indicate that pricing was perhaps out of line.

The challenge for any and all aspects of the sports and entertainment business is competition for people's disposable income. People want perceived value for their entertainment dollars. There will always be a core of dedicated football fans but the other segment of the market. will deteriorate as people see other entertainment options when they deem better entertainment.

If you look back historically the semi final games have been a tough sell in a number of markets. Especially since the blaking out of games was started.
