  1. I spoke to someone who was on the field...he was TKO.
  2. After researching second concussion syndrome I would suggest you then research CTE and the research into the examination of the brains of deceased football and hockey players.
  3. That poor sap is a world renowned expert in the field of spinal, head injuries and concussions. What would his motive or axe to grind be? He saw what we all saw an unconscious athlete prone and motionless on the field.
  4. I am not sure how anyone who witnessed the play honestly believes that Willy was not unconscious on the field. By definition a concussion is an interruption, be it brief or instantaneous in brain function is a concussion. Being unconscious is exactly that. He may have no lingering effects or symptoms and may now have passed the post concussion protocols but he was concussed.
  5. Well I agree they have played against 2 quality o lines so far and perhaps a 3rd one bending in Mtl I still worry that Size does matter and wonder if there is enough size inside.
  6. There is a neuropsychologist in Winnipeg that the Jets and Bombers used, specifically trained in this field. But for the sake of perceived independence and transparency they might decide to use an " outside" consultant as well.
  7. I am a fan of good CFL football and delight in watching 2 teams that demonstrate a high level of quality skilled football. Will Willy play the entire game? The greater question is should he play? For Willy to say he was not unconscious is either false bravado, delusional or ignorance. Son you were unconscious. I understand the stigma and fear in sport of using the C word, concussion but it is what it is. I have complete trust and faith in the a Bomber medical staff. I know them and know the level of professionalism, experience and expertise that they represent. What do I expect on Friday? I expect a lot of anxious people that will be on pins and needles watching and worrying about Willy taking a significant hit. He may or may not be at a greater risk for injury then any other player. But the problem is if he does take one and gets hurt.....well you decide.
  8. Here in lies the argument between sport for the sake of sport and the business of sport, or sport as a business. If there isn't a conflict of interest I don't know what is? That interest being the health and well being of your employees what is?
  9. Perhaps the thread should be the Bomber Scouting department.
  10. Perhaps the difference is some personnel people in the CFL seem to have a better knack for evaluating young QB talent.
  11. I agree the inside DTs seem small by today's standards especially given that most O linemen are plus 300 LBs now. The more effective DE's are speed rushers. The body types like Bowman in a Mtl, Hall in Sask and Willis in Edm.
  12. The CFL office had the ability to review the play in slow motion from multiple camera angles to make their evaluation if the play. The officials have one opportunity to make a judgement call in real time to do the same thing. Perhaps we should all walk a mile in the shoes of officials. It isn't as easy as we might think.
  13. You indicate Bass is out of his league and Hurl seems lost and this is the DCs fault. Coaches ride the horses they are given. He got some lame ponies it seems.
  14. I will be shocked if he plays. Coaches love to blow smoke and not give any indication as to who will play especially at the QB spot. Loss of consciousness is in fact not necessarily an indicator of whether someone has sustained a concussion or not. But he was completely motionless when he was initially being attended to. He fell to the field with his arms limp and his elbows flexed another classic sign of being unconscious. There is no defined timeline for return to activity. There is a battery of tests players go thru prior to the start of the season. These then serve as a baseline for the player. The tests are then repeated after a player has sustained a head injury. The player must be completely symptom free, after which he then must be symptom free following exertion. The player is also seen by an independent neurophysiologist specifically trained in the field of head injuries. There is one in Winnipeg that both the Bombers and the Jets. Coaches can say all they want be in smoke or regarding a players "toughness" but this will be purely and completely a medical decision.
  15. Not sure which plays you are specifically addressing. Making a blanket statement like that is somewhat of a gross generalization is it not?
  16. Nice stadium but you can wrap up a broken toy in a pretty package and it is still a broken toy.
  17. So seriously you people don't think the CFL has or won't review that play on Willy? At some point there will be a statement from the CFL office. You may or may not agree or like it but so be it.
  18. I recall there was a made cry inToronto to run Lobendahn out if the league on a hit to an Argo QB. The interesting part of that was the next day a photo in the Free Press illustrated that the Argo QB actually put himself into a vulnerable position prior to the hit. After review the league agreed and there was no fine or suspension. My point is the Cfl will or has reviewed the hit on Willy and if punishment is due it will be levied
  19. Blame a DC for inexperienced players and and an inept front 7 that can't pass rush. Hall isn't the personnel department. You coach what u r given to coach.
  20. Willy was being spun around and tackled by the Hamilton player and was basically flung into the other Approaching Hamilton player resulting in the head to head contact. It really seemed as it was accidental or incidental head to head contact. Given the nature of the play I might suggest that it has been or will be reviewed by the CFL. Perhaps we should wait for their response.
  21. Dave Ritchie said that each starting rookie would cost you a game during the season.
  22. Interesting arguments here. This is an apple and oranges argument. Those that say other teams Canadians are old and washed up vs those that are advocating the virtues of the unproven rookies. Time will tell all.
  23. If the serious lack of veteran presence at the LB spots doesn't raise some serious red flags......perhaps it should!
