  1. We are back to talking about guys from other teams that haven't played. We are back on the I hope this guy might be able to play plan?
  2. Welcome back KG....sorry about your luck Pal.
  3. We were prepared for this....what do people think he was going to say? We are now at Plan D. Damage control my butt. He probably went home after to trade his Depends. Who realistically has a QB to even trade at this point? Ottawa is the one and only option. What does he give up to get Glenn back? Isn't this ironic.
  4. New still has to prove it is better than old. Players have a short shelf life. Can u blame them for choosing somewhere else that they think is a better situation for them? Tough obstacle to overcome. Perception becomes people's' reality
  5. It isn't necessarily about the total, we have no idea what differences there were in structure, signing bonus and bonuses.
  6. Not sure who's mathematics that equation is....but I think Willy and Glenn , if it ever happens would exceed Burris.
  7. Winnipeg has requested FA deadline now be changed to April 1st.
  8. What is the Vegas line on Willy signing in Montreal? Any takers?
  9. You might want a neg list of QBs that know zero about what has happened in Winnipeg
  10. Ottawa can sit on those guys until June or someone makes them a good offer. Another game of chicken for the Bombers. Anyone getting tired of getting plucked?
  11. Why do u think they resigned? They knew they had nowhere to go and Kowalchuck's girlfriend is from Winnipeg.
  12. Option year contracts cannot be less then the previous year's contract as per the CBA and SPC.
  13. Lawless seems to want to downplay Burris having other options. Ottawa is currently out zero dollars interns of having paid money to their current QBs. They could phoney up for Burris and the worry later about who actually makes it there as QB. Montreal has AC's money now available to pay out to Burris. They resigned The perhaps heir apparent prior to AC's retirement so they had to factor that into their cap equation. You can play chicken all you want but I would be careful of how many QBs remain in the Cfl henhouse to sign.
  14. The notion is to leave yourself cap space at the end of the season for a couple if reasons. Firstly it allows you to sign players like Turner. You also need to allow yourself some margin if cushion because the CFL auditor has the ultimate discretion as to cap inclusions and exceptions. A Clubs internal audit may be close but the CFL has the final say. Try and cut it to thin and you could be over. Check and see what other teams had signings in Dec. to use up cap space.
  15. Marlborough had got his money as a roster payment that Jan. There was no point deferring money when the cap was instituted as it then was a carry over into the next cap year. Teams have no desire to do that. The idea is to spend remaining cap money at the end of the year so it doesn't carry into the next cap year.
  16. Winnipeg spends the same money. You may disagree with how they distribute that money but don't say they don't spend. That excuse is both old and inaccurate.
  17. Every team does it. It doesn't always work and becomes a serious problems when you get guys like Mike Kelly coming in and dumping a lot of guys that were front end loaded. Ideally you sign guys before Dec 31st and use that extra cap space from the previous season. Then it doesn't impact the current year....especially if you end up dropping the guy for some reason.
  18. How do you get guys to sign for less money? Easy it's Feb. and a lot of these guys don't have a pot to prissiness at this time of year. So the solution is a signing bonus now for less Monet later. This especially works for imports that get a preferred tax rate of 15% off of signing bonus money versus their regular tax rate. This is not without risk as this is money out the door unless he is a guaranteed starter or you risk it as lost Cap money. Pay now and pay less later.
  19. Everyone gets ramped up about QB salaries. The challenge of affording more than One potential starting QB is NOT the total projected cost if each of them starting it is the ACTUAL cost of your starter. What determines that? A few factors. Firstly how much of the money each or all received as a signing bonus. That becomes a fixed cost. Next factor in each of their base salaries, as long as they are on the active roster that is a fixed cost. The critical variable costs then become largely playtime bonuses, starting bonuses and then bonuses for yardage, TDs, completion percentages etc. those are your variable costs. You can then assume that the variable costs can basically be obtained by one QB at a time. Ideally having largely incentive based QBs controls your overall QB costs. The risk is when you give up too much in signing money to more than one QB, and their combined base amounts are too high.
  20. Interesting how another thread gets twisted off topic. Now class stick to the topic.
  21. That too would be a solid plan
  22. A fart is a potential heat source if you put a match to it and don't get burnt.
  23. What opinions change when things don't work out? That is a CYA mentality.
  24. While I agree with Blue and Golds concerns I am not sure counting on Kito as a starter was likely still the driving force behind making this deal.
  25. Steep? An established player for who? Maybe they'll move Kito to defence so he can continue to not catch the ball. BC just got the clone of Foster back in a trade.
