Absolutely you punt

Did anyone doubt that Ottawa would hand off again? Calgary will be at least mid field
-
Hahahahahahahahahahhaa
-
Four point lead = prevent défense? someone needs to get Thorpe a calculator.
-
Wonder if the Calgary defensive coordinator will stick in Vancouver. I hope he does.
-
I’m in LA watching it, sadly.
-
Yep, and some people try to suggest that Calgary is still a good team. Honestly, the on field product leaguewide this year has been pretty abysmal.
-
So wait, if the defence is this good, isn’t it obvious why we have so many two and outs? To get our amazing defence on the field as much as possible! Makes sense to me!
-
You listed “good” teams, which I responded to. Neither you, nor I, said anything about the bombers, hence why I didn’t comment on the quality of their opponents, but if you’d like me to do that, here we go: Much like every team in the league that has at least one win, the Bombers have beaten Toronto and B.C., two of the three worst teams. The other of the three worst teams is Saskatchewan, who the Bombers have not played, not Ottawa, as you suggested. Ottawa has beaten both Calgary and Saskatchewan, and we destroyed that team twice. And of course, we beat Edmonton as well. So once again, Hamilton and Montreal are the only real unknowns when it comes to “good” teams that we haven’t played. Edmonton beat Montreal, and Hamilton needed two kick return touchdowns, which is incredibly rare, to beat Calgary and had a game go down to the wire against a terrible Sask team playing their third string quarterback. As it stands right now, the Bombers have beaten more quality opponents on average than any other team, largely because they’ve won five games. Yes, Montreal has beaten Hamilton and Edmonton, but Hamilton and Edmonton have both also beaten Montreal, making them all relatively even. When we beat Edmonton, they were undefeated. Same with the first time we beat Ottawa. Three weeks ago Montreal was considered one of the worst teams in the league, and frankly, winning with 20 points shouldn’t get everyone so excited. We can’t keep moving the goalposts from week to week, especially when the Bombers don’t make their own schedule. The reality is that every team has beaten on the bad teams, and the Bombers have beaten on everyone they’ve played thus far, including a good and average team. If winning five games in a row was easy then we wouldn’t be the only undefeated team in the league.

Calgary has three wins against the three worst teams in the league, needing a miracle to beat BC, and lost to the team we just finished destroying, with Bo Levi in that game no less. How exactly are they a “good team”? And funnily enough, the Ticats should have lost to this Calgary team. I’ll still include Ham in the good team category because you can’t ignore their record and, well, there’s so few teams that we can even call good at this point.

That’s the Pit team I play on. Do we know eachother?
-
I know much is being made about the 5-0 starts (rightfully so), but honest to god, I cant remember the last time we’ve had two blowouts in a row. Not to mention that it’s not just that we’re undefeated, but how very clearly better we’ve been than our opponents in every game but one. These first halves are getting to the point where we can all watch 90min of football and then go do something else because they’ve already won the game. Crazy. Also crazy that it wasn’t that long ago that we wanted some variation of O’Shea, Hall, and Nichols fired. It’s crazy what time, patience, and consistency can do. And holy crap, Walters has been a machine these last two years. Our depth at every position is just absolutely batshit insane.

The playoff game in BC a few years back was pretty solid for him, despite the loss.
-
Now that’s a deep cut.

Speaking of the tribute to Randle, I thought the one to Ian Wild was nice too but am a bit surprised that there wasn’t one for Fogg. Maybe just not enough time to do two in a game? Either way, what an incredible gesture. The Bombers really are the class of the league in pretty much every way right now.
-
I hope this is the year of the no crossover!
-
It’s also worth noting that going vanilla in the second half allows us to keep that many more plays off of film that opponents can’t study. It’s why we’re vanilla in pre-season after all. Every week, every offence in the league disappears for stretches of the game. If ours is disappearing once we have insurmountable leads, as opposed to when the game is still hanging in the balance, and I’m pretty damn ok with that.
-
But muh yards! But my TOP! Quit it with this notion that scoring points is important!
-
Ok let me take a stab at this game... Andrew Harris’ biggest run of the night was at the end of the half when just trying to kill the clock. Take that run away (the game we’re doing by taking Nichols long passes away for god knows what reason) and Harris’ numbers aren’t all that great. Add in Harris’ two fumble game against Edmonton. Ergo, Harris is a steaming pile of Rider crap! Did I do it right? What do I win?? We scored more points in the first half of this game than we have in the entire game of any of our three previous wins (five if you want to include pre-season). We’re 4-0 for the first time in 16 years. We are the only undefeated team in the league. We are the only team that has beaten Edmonton and Ottawa. We find a new way to win every week. Are we perfect? No, of course not. But as it stands, at this point in time, we appear to be closer to “perfect” than any other team in the league. I really wish more people watched all the non-Bomber games, we are far and away the most complete, put together team out there. Let’s also consider that we had Hardrick, Matthews, Whitehead, Bighill, Briggs, Hecht and probably more I’m forgetting out for all or most of the game. Everyone keeps saying “if we let up like that against a good team...”. News flash: We did. Against Edmonton. Guess what? They still didn’t beat us, and we didn’t even put up 48 in that one. So considering that we let up against Edmonton with 28 points and won, it’s fair to say had we done hat with 37 points or 41 points or 48 points... one sec, gotta so a quick calculation...carry the three...deduct anything good Nichols did...ignore anything bad Streveler did... yup, we would’ve still won. Point being: you don’t need to be perfect, you just need to be better than your opponent. So far we’ve been better than all our opponents, fairly convincingly.
-
Agreed. Hope Hecht’s injury isn’t as bad as it looked.
-
The internet told me that Nichols is very inaccurate. Just imagine if we had an accurate passer in there!
-
And if only Lapo wouldn’t just give up after being up 21-0. What a boring okay call, just another touchdown.

HAM N EGG WOOO GO BOMBERS!!!
