  1. I'm very much on the fence on this debate, but I will say that it seems quite absurd that in all likelihood, the fourth place team in the west (and third and second) will finish with a better record than the first place team in the east, yet the first and second place east teams get to host playoff games (and one gets a bye). To me, that's the definition of rewarding mediocrity. Keep the divisions as they are for the regular season, as well as the crossover rule, but in terms of seeding for the playoffs do it based on record. In other words, Sask will remain outside regardless of how they finish, but come playoff time (assuming the season ended today), Wpg gets the bye and BC and Edm both host the semi-finals.
  2. I'd take Carter here in a heartbeat. A lot of people here seem to believe the picture the Als organization is painting and take it as gospel. I think Popp and Cato are the bigger problems over there and Carter is an easy scapegoat because of what folks have seen in the media. Listen to his interview on TSN from this morning. He's calm and well spoken, he only gets fired up on the field. We all heard Nichols yell at Kohlert (and I imagine Smith) after they both dropped passes on Fri, Kohlert's leading to an INT. If the Bombers were in the shape that Montreal is in, the media and everyone here would all be going on about how Nichols is a cancer blah blah blah and highlighting that clip a hundred times over. Is Carter as bad as he's made out to be? Maybe, but I'm not going to assume that based on what I saw with the Als. I'd rather see for myself. Considering the guy is one of, if not the, best receivers in the CFL. As wbbfan pointed out, Bolden and Sellers were both considered trouble at one point, and here I am with both of their jerseys proudly hanging in my closet. Or how about this one for you? Ever hear of a guy named Andrew Harris? How short our memories are about his public words last year and prior Worst case we cut him, best case we add a 1,000 yard receiver to our roster. Our locker room is tight, he isn't going to change that.
  3. Harris said in interview today that he expects to be sharing the field with Flanders for the rest of the season and Nichols commented on it as well, so it doesn't sound like Flanders comes off. Probably McDuffie.
  4. Who is the player on the far left? Must go to the same barber as Mayo!
  5. Maybe because Dan Lefevour has outplayed him this season?
  6. Love this and love that the Bombers are creating so much editorial content these days. Very happy to have Gurley on our team, can't wait to see what he does next week!!
  7. Last time I checked, a fumble recovery doesn't result in points unless it happens in the end zone, so even if this ruling was overturned, BC would've still needed to score and there's no guarantee of that happening. Everyone is acting like that call cost them the game. What cost them the game was not being able to convert on third and one because Khari got lazy and tried to call the same play that got them a 50 yard TD earlier. Went back to the well one too many times and Mo was ready for it.
  8. We took that many last week too without any ejections.
  9. Probably very minor, but Dressler has fumbled a few times this season, including one in each of the last two games (Calgary one we recover, Edmonton one I'm sure no one here can forget that). Not saying that makes him worse/better than Denmark, just an observation.
  10. Lots of folks listing Kohlert as the Canadian receiver in the starting lineup. I'd just like to throw my hat in the ring for JFG. I feel like he's been substantially better than Kohlert this year in limited reps.
  11. Heath still not starting ahead of Johnson. Maybe it's taking him a while to absorb the playbook, or maybe he's still banged up from last week? McDuffie on the depth chart (but so is Harris and he's not playing), any insight on if he'll see the field?
  12. I hope you're right. He came up lame after a play last game so I was a bit concerned.
  13. FREDERICK!! Yes, finally!! Now to get Bruce Johnson out of the lineup...
  14. I get what you're saying. I agree that Harris would actually be a better Cdn receive than Kohlert who has been underperforming all year. Regardless, when we're back to one Cdn receiver is like to see JFG starting over Kohlert. He's been great in his limited oppprtunities (showed that again yesterday).
  15. Today convinced me that we are indeed an elite team, and that's with a loss. The D and special teams let us down, but they've carried us all year. One complete game in the final and this will all be a distant memory. Way to go blue, a tough heartbreaker but one with a whole lot of character.
  16. Amen!
  17. Will be very interesting to see what it's like having Smith, Denmark, and Dressler all on the field at once. Definitely lacking height but they're all play makers.
  18. Sorry, I didn't mean bigger than Sheppard, I just meant a big body in general (as opposed to Denmark, Smith, Dressler, Kohlert)
  19. Love that JFG comes in for Sheppard if Flanders is in for Harris. We talked all week about JFG/Denmark but this swap makes way more sense. JFG can block and while not as tall as Sheppard, is still a bigger body.
  20. And take away that 5TD game and Glenn's numbers get even worse. Not sure what it'll take to convince folks that Nichols is the guy at this point. He led our team to twice as many TDs as Durant did on Sat and most folks seem to feel that Durant is the better QB. Collaros threw some pretty ill advised passes yesterday (should've been several more picks), Reilly making mistakes as well, even Mitchell did. Now don't get me wrong, those are all QBs I'd love to have here (maybe minus Durant), but while Nichols might not be single handedly winning us games, he isn't losing them either. I believe if Willy or Glenn we're our QB the last two weeks we would've lost both, because either would've turned over the ball. I like Nichols- workmanlike, unassuming, and gets the most important stat of all: wins.
  21. 50/50 prize was $7,200. It was $102k in Winnipeg yesterday. Sad.
  22. Haha I'm actually surrounded by TiCats fans. They're louder than the Argo fans that's for sure.
  23. Just landed in TO and have a few hours to kill, figured I'll check out BMO Field. Anyone else here? Would love to sit with some friendlies!
  24. Right, there was the season opener last year. I meant Labour Day in my original post thanks for catching that.
