  1. Tate has looked REALLY GOOD when he plays uninjured... and it isn't even like he plays with the kind of recklessness that was getting Pierce hurt. He just seems to be having a bunch of bad luck - No two injuries have been the same (shoulder and then a broken forearm - who breaks their forearm?) although this latest injury sounds like it could be related to the forearm injury so who knows. If he was available at a reasonable price I would definitely take the shot on him being able to stay healthy...
  2. If Pierce disappoints and our back-ups don't show themselves capable of starting I could see the Bombers moving on Tate. Thing is he will only be available if he ends up missing most of the season due to injury (at which point I could see Calgary deciding to go with Glenn/Mitchell for next year) At which point we'd be looking at acquiring another QB who can't seem to stay healthy but looks good when he is healthy (like Pierce did before we acquired him) I also don't see it happening until after the expansion draft since Ottawa taking on of their QB's is essentially better than what they could have gotten in trade for the QB (since taking the QB means they can protect an additional 2 NI's in their first round - a pretty good return on a guy you wanted to trade)
  3. Great game on DEFENSE Yes he pissed away having a good overall game with his special team play - but for consideration in keeping his job on DEFENSE his game was quite excellent (I wouldn't be shocked to not see Jovon returning punts this week)
  4. I thought he already served that suspension
  5. Oh... I assumed Fantuz and Labatte weren't horribly overpaid in free agency last year
  6. I thought Labatte was getting paid around 175 and he is only a guard maybe not more than 200K then but right around there for a tackle
  7. Ottawa will be in a tough spot if they pick up many unsigned players in the draft - Those players know they burnt a draft pick on them and that most likely their old team would like them back... let's just say it's probably a good thing for Ottawa that the salary cap is going up this year.
  8. I agree - Muamba is going to be one well paid mofo once Mack and his agent finish getting things figured out. Most likely we can't sign him to a new deal until the end of this season or we'd have salary cap issues this season (or we'd have to cut someone who has a big price tag - although with Hefney gone....) Henoc is easily as invaluable to this team as a all-star NI tackle... those guys make 200k+ per year.
  9. It's hard to say exactly but it sure looked like he didn't lock down on the wrist until he started to lose his balance - he had decent tight coverage but lost his footing in the hand fighting. The right play in that situation is to interfere if you don't think you'll be able to make a tackle if your guy catches it.
  10. Not necessarily... he might be ready enough to start at RT but not better than Boatman... Since we don't really have depth for an NI tackle we might as well just give him one more year of seasoning
  11. Doesn't the CFL board have to essentially rubber stamp any contracts... I'm pretty sure they wouldn't approve any contracts with terms that were done that way
  12. I'd swap Sorenson and Swiston, but only because if we lost Sorenson at center our only option would be Kowalchuk (or w/e his name is) and I don't like that possibility. Other then that I think you are pretty bang on I don't think they'd take Edwards - he's been having injury problems pretty consistently (starting to show his age) - JJ is my thought for who they'd take if we don't protect him, probably as their most veteran DB... although Ford is also a possibility depending on what's available for import RB's in the draft
  13. He can't back either of those two up however.
  14. No kidding... If Greaves keeps up how solid he has been playing so far this year I could see him ending up an All-Star (looking at the plays where Montreal didn't send 8 people at the line)
  15. Brutal? - The first one was a marginal PI at best with the hand fighting that was happening between him and AB (it could have easily gone the other way) and JJ actually made a pretty head's up move to hang on when he lost his balance or that was easily a TD if AB caught the ball. The second was more black and white sure... it was for 16 yards and was the only ball JJ's man caught all game The first game JJ had 3 tackles on passes caught for a total of 26 yards other than the PI - Cauchy had tackles on Richardson (20 yards - probably Suber's guy) and Green (27 yards - Probably Washington's guy). His first game of the year wasn't great but he sure wasn't getting beat all over the place either.
  16. They aren't going to have to protect Flory - Ottawa isn't taking a 37 yr old Guard... Even Bourke could potentially be left alone at 31
  17. ^ Lol... exactly this - We play him and he does reasonably well = we need to protect him because just about every team in the league with a starting NI tackle who isn't well past his 30th birthday is going to protect that player. We may still protect Pencer even without playing him all year just because the potential upside of having a legit starting tackle is so big that Mack may not want to risk Ottawa taking a shot on him after every single other NI tackle in the league is protected (a legitimate possibility)
  18. Which is exactly the point - We don't need to start the extra NI on the line right now & don't necessarily have the NI talent to back it up anyways so we're better off putting Pencer on the 9-game all year and put another year of practice seasoning into him. If we did use him this year he might be decent but probably not dominant... which could make him valuable enough that we would be forced to protect him. As it is we probably won't need to protect Pencer because there are so many other young NI O-line guys available who have been seen more.
  19. Maybe go with Both... rotating them frequently
  20. DingDingDing JJ on Defense has been playing really solid - Yeh he had a bad game on special teams... I wouldn't cut the guy from the team since he has shown he is still worth having as a defensive starter.
  21. I agree Turner made Flory look like a first year rookie on that move... it was beautiful to watch
  22. Maybe he replaces a rec on the roster?
  23. Andrew Harris I've been joke picking Goltz every week at the other forum... 1 / 2 so far
  24. Voting against Edmonton 2/2
  25. Doug Brown wrote a really interesting article about how that particular sack went down - Apparently that sack was the result of the Bombers running stunts all game and Turner starting his initial movement like they were running a stunt. Flory was trying to get the jump on the stunt and sold out to do it. Turner schooled him pretty hard on that play - Not to say Hall wasn't playing awesome but that was all about Turner selling a stunt and swimming inside hard.
