I gotta admit, I had to doublecheck HockeyDB for those stats you pulled @The Unknown Poster. OEL 42 pts/82 GP and Trouba 32/82 is way closer than I would have guessed. The underlying numbers tell a little different story though, when you factor in 8's health. OEL has four 42+ pt seasons and two 20 GOAL seasons. Trouba's career bests are closer to 1/2 that.... and as much as I love the guy, I don't think he gets much closer to OEL's offence anytime soon. Interesting comparable, for sure.

When I hear Davis Sanchez I think back to that magical Thanksgiving day comeback vs. BC in 2010. Major penalty he took was a big part of that win for us. Game when into OT and Bombers won by 12. Gotta love the CFL haha!

Kenbrell Thompkins is a cousin of Antonio Brown of the Steelers. Arrested 7 times between ages of 15 - 18. Seems he finally got his life on the right track, after getting sent to a military-like bootcamp. Then got a scholarship at U of Tennessee. Dude didn't start football until 19 and has caught a (real) TD pass from Tom Brady. Craziest thing is I'm 98.5% sure my crew and I have had 2 near run-ins with this kitties just north of Gimli this spring. Sounds were identical. Couldn't place what animal (or severely troubled) human would make this noise.

For whatever reason I'm following CPL news waaaaay more than I thought I would.... - 2 weeks ago @stevensandor on twitter penned an article saying CPL required stadiums in which the CPL was the primary tenant. Since I've heard nothing to confirm, and neither he nor Freep people answer tweets, I have to think this was either a mistake OR more likely because of the shared ownership and/or CPL # of games in a season the soccer team would be IGF's "primary tenant". - the name?! Cavalry FC is a rumored potential WPG name. It'll be someone's name, as the trademark is done. CPL Trademarks FC Barcelona isn't just one of the world's most successful footy teams; they have basketball, roller hockey, ice hockey!, volleyball and beach soccer teams under the same ownership.

I feel bad for Toby. He made a stellar D play the very sequence before he got burned for that goal. The kind of stellar play that goes underappreciated because he doesn't play 82 anymore and get 50 pts while doing it. But alas, the last one to change often gets the scorn the next day. He just can't make the same plays he could 5 years ago. Same goes for Troobs. He got victimized on VGK first goal, but to me that's on 55 & 26 way before Trouba. Top line played well last night, don't get me wrong. But you can't (just can't) give up a road goal 30 secs in like that. Scheifs simply just has to get it in deep....who knows how that period would have played out if we don't start so poorly. In general, and this is NOT directed at MBB at all.........but there's FAR too much bellyaching in this town the last few days. This is the fu&$(%* West Final. Teams are supposed to be good, and VGK are. Jets win game 4, get home ice back, and take care of business. When Jets are doubted and have back against the wall, we play our best. Fully expect that for next game.

And holy CRAP did that Trouba "news" ever fly under radar. Maybe it's all talk, maybe it's not worth over-analyzing. But him and his status in WPG, to me, is / was the biggest obstacle this offseason. Helle will sign, Laine will agree to a mega-deal, Lowry, Connor..... none was as pressing as #8 because of all the history between the 2 sides. Top pairing D don't come cheap. He & Morrissey can conceivably be our #1 pairing well into the 2020's. SIGN. THE. MAN. And hope he dumps his agent at some point and makes life a tad easier for Chevy.

McPhee has to win GM of the year, no question. He built a team from scratch - in part to dummies like MIN and FLA - and made them a legit Stanley Cup threat in < 12 months. The award is presented yearly afterall. I'm a Chevy fan (not the vehicle) but he's had 7 seasons to build a winning team. Not in even the same ballpark arena as McPhee. Chevy does deserve "GM of the Decade" if this team wins 7 more games, though. WINNIPEG - Manitoba...ya that Winnipeg... making a Cup Final would get Chevy getting a lifetime contract from TNSE.

Great news about Kulikov! Him, Morrow and Poolman as the extras moving forward is wonderful D depth for the final 2 rounds.

If $70,000 makes or breaks this season, than we've got bigger problems anyway. I'm far more pissed that we find this out via the method we did, but worse yet.... it's May 11. We play g1 in less than 3 weeks. This is a dude who cares about himself and no one else. Only way to look at, isn't it?!? I'm pretty much as far away from Wpg's Famous Dave's as you can get within city limits - only make it there sparingly. If you were a fan of the US one... time to go back. I've never had a bad meal at the one here. Lastly, curse you for filling my head with thoughts of burnt ends......so effn good!
