I stopped saying that the year Phaneuf & Clarkson's contract were traded.
-
Given that signing was announced at exactly 12 noon....maybe Walters and co. got the timezone wrong for FA kickoff?
-
No clue. But you wonder how / if they keep Kane and Toews long term if they aren't a playoff contending team. How do you rebuild with 20% of your cap tied up in 2 players?

1,346. But who's counting. -
Catching up on these now, because who wants to think about death whilst on vacation... Fraiser was some QUALITY entertainment back in the day & a ritual sitcom in my household. Martin Crane was probably the most likeable / relatable character in the show. RIP. Bah! A fave from "old tv"....now a fave from "newer TV". Reg was so solid as Mayor Carcetti's right hand man on The Wire and in House of Cards, too. I got crazy craving's for ribs everytime his character was on. RIP.

Before we start a "who's a better fan" thread, let me just say I'm a better fan then all of you. So there. -
Is it May yet?

Riders are just a few early-retirements away from having a great cap situation.

Are they complaining? Makes all in for Dahlin that much easier. Here’s hoping they loose the lottery.

Game 56 : Madison Square Garden @ Madison Square
Jimmy Pop replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
With One Great City putting out great food & drinks, I’ll take our Madison Sq any day are we still undefeated in afternoon games this year?? Boys bounce back big today. I’ve got Laine socks on... he’s due for a multi goal game. -
Sounds like Odell is getting flipped to BC. Reunions with Hervey everywhere!

Hughes donning a bunnyhug?! Don't think I like that....

No, but I didn't call MacKinnon mediocre either. Let's agree to disagree. It's the weekend & I've got no energy left. James Neal is a punk.

Different strokes for different folks. He's a great player, don't get me wrong. But I do think it's fair to ask if production has always matched skill level. His best year statistically was his first. Avs also won the division that year. Since then, you're right, pretty lousy Avs team. And in turn, just an "okay" Nathan MacKinnon?? A "pretty good" Nathan MacKinnon. A mediocore Nathan MacKinnon? At 20 G & 50 pts per season, given his talent, I don't think mediocre is that egregious. It's just naturally high expectations for a 1st overall. How would he describe his last few season's, leaving aside the team's play? I've watched the Avs downfall pretty closely, being a diehard fan before the Jets returned and all...

especially when compared to his last several mediocre seasons...

Game 52 : Golden Nugget @ Golden Boy
Jimmy Pop replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Good to hear. I arrive in LV for the first time in 48 hrs. Think it'll tough to find somewhere to watch the Superbowl? -
Agreed. We're too good this year to rely on just the folks we have and hope it works out. Morrissey - Buff Enstrom - Myers Kulivov - Poolman If Kulikov's good to go this week, we're in decent shape short term. What worries me, and I'm sure the Jets, 6-8 week injury gets pretty close to playoff time. And this ain't Scheifele healing a shoulder, where you know player will stay in shape.
-
I'm not so sure. They're old, slow. How good is Ryan Miller these days? Doesn't sound like Gibson's in good shape. And he's their workhorse.

So funny tidbit... twitter peeps will likely know Wheeler's tagline of "nice guy, tries hard, love the game". So, Friedman & Jeff Marek have got a new podcast, based on Elliot's 31 Thoughts articles. Their last episode had Marc Savard on. He mentioned how the "nice guy, tries hard, loves the game" line was a moniker those Bruins' teams had in reference to players who just weren't very good. I wonder if the timeline matches.... Wheeler gets a rough ride from the vets in Beantown, gets traded, uses it as fuel for rest of his career. Or just a coincidence?

Motion presented: Can we have a Canadian Politics thread a la the US Politics one ?? It would leave this space free, for, as the thread suggests.... random news. Seems to me the armchair politicos on here could have a more focused discussion on a dedicated thread. #JustMy2Cents #AreHashtagsStillAThing
