Pittsburg (California) Diamonds with a solid 69 people per night! Also where Jose Canseco last suited up....this past summer. #themoreyouknow

Doubtful, unfortunately. I mean we've been at 3500 or so in games 3 and 4. Not bad, but that's like 50% full. I'd never call fellow Wpg fans fairweather..... but it's the same for Blue every season too. Here's hoping a stellar season will keep those crowds at 28,000+ instead of the typical 25,000 fall crowds.

Good / Not so good - Preseason Game #1 (Good) - Helle was solid. As already mentioned... he was just seeing the play way better and moving cross crease quicker. Poolman looked solid. Skates well, mostly smart decisions with the puck, didn't notice any glaring errors. I don't have his ice time in front of me, but Lemieux was flying out there. Hitting everything that moved, obligatory scrap too. Little was our best forward last night; no surprises there. He may just have a monster season if he gets a steady dose of Ehlers on his wing. Oh, and the 10 lbs Laine put on certainly ain't hurting his shot.....is it better now?! Straight lethal. (Not so good) - Officials were in preseason form. Jets discipline in typical regular season form. Our PP converts 12 secs into powerplay #1 of preseason.... pretty quiet with the other 219840 man advantages they had. I'm not in the hate-everything-about-Logan-Stanley group, but pretty clear he's not ready. Major seasoning needed. Thought Benny Chairot needs to clean up a lot if he wants regular mins this year. Kyle Connor wasn't all that noticeable... again, not a ton of even-strength ice out there for a lot of guys - KC needs more ice before Oct.4.

There's a name that need not be mentioned in any CFL threads ever again ...unless Jones needs a new QB, that is. -
To me the key to all the Trouba chatter still remains signing him to a long term extension with us. Even if his desire is to play elsewhere, it's in his best interest to sign an extension. The Jets will get better offers if he's got a 3+ year deal at a reasonable cap hit. Given the history of Overhardt, and the history of guys who've held out to start a season - I peg chances at him being traded at 70/30 in the next 12 months.

Much like in our first preseason game in 2.0 history Buff got Wpg's first homicide of the season.

Pfffft. That's pretty standard for outdoors outfitters for this time of year, even if the doors aren't shutting! Hard pass.

Bah... I'm sure I remember there being an actual design / plan / pitch done with the Polar Bear name. BUT the closest I can find is that in 2011 staff in Churchill had 341 polar bear occurrences and dealt with 61 bears. Let's just call it even, and say I was right.

He had nothing to do with them actually returning, and neither did 99% of this city. But I'd place some value in just getting that conversation started. There was a romantic notion, maybe I bit too, that Winnipeg "deserved" the NHL. That idea sells papers, but isn't grounded in reality. No, we had/have an incredibly dedicated, community-driven owner who's put his - and where necessary - other's money on the line. Much more than the few thousand I have since 2011. As far as the Polar Bears stuff...from what I recall, that's accurate. We had a name and design done. They re-thought it as the barrage of "Jets or bust" ideas were spread around town. I'm fairly sure TNSE has admitted as much - the Jets was the name this city wanted, not what the ownership group wanted preferred.

Lol indeed! It's interesting... the guy's like a pariah amongst NHLJets twitter folks now. And I don't really get it. People get jealous, I suppose. **** circa 2005 - 2010 give or take his site was my go-to for hockey news. All I cared about was the return of the Jets. I still remember watching the meter! hahaha.

few things are more Manitoban than hating the Oilers, Flames, Leafs and Habs.

Don't blame twitter.... it's a MBB invention! It's a play on #ForTheW.... with the wrong letter capitalized.

speaking of restaurants.... where the efff is Popeyes Chicken?! They were supposed to be here like 2 years ago

Hell, I'll eat a small portion of crow here. After preseason last year I didn't think he was ready. Proved me wrong and then some.....though to be fair, I don't know anyone who expected him to be that solid, that quickly.
-
Yeah, I don't really get the well if he declines 3 yrs from now, it's an overpay.... Yes, that's how all long term contracts in pro sports work hahaha. Just as likely to me, he stays a 50-60 pt scorer & a legit top 6 do it all type guy for the foreseeable future. And, as some have been saying on twitter, if he ends up as a bottom 6 guy with a lesser role in a few yrs - that's a GOOD thing. That prob means another player has stolen the spot - hello Roslovic, Jack. I dunno.... been wrong plenty before. But I don't see Little as a fall off the map type guy. Durability may come into play, but his skating alone should benefit him as he gets older.....unlike say, former cap'n Mr.Ladd. Seems pretty perfectly in line with his value right now to the team, IMO.
-
Maybe it's semantics... I don't know if it's his "hockey IQ" but I know the general concern with the Stanley pick was his offensive upside. Lack of offensive production in juniors typically carries over to the big league.

One of my faves growing up watching the Avs. Damn, those teams were fun.

Here's hoping the Flames fans throw the pressure right back where it belongs; at the owners feet. Good on the mayor for not budging.

WHOA! King just playing here or are the Flames in trouble?!

I was curious about the airhorns at New Mosaic, figured that must have been a new policy. They don't explicitly mention them being banned, but I haven't been to the new digs so I'll take your word for it. I found this interesting, under prohibited items... https://www.riderville.com/permitted-and-prohibited/
