Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
Jimmy Pop replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Falling asleep is pretty stupid, potentially dangerous. Weed is the only valid excuse for being in a Taco Bell DT. Of course, incomparable to domestic violence. On the other hand; Chris Rainey.... who's been a stud for me in fantasy all season.... has a long history of domestic violence. The league could certainly be more consistent in this area, it would seem. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000124526/article/chris-rainey-arrested-in-florida-on-battery-charge http://thelead.blogs.cnn.com/2014/09/18/cardinals-cut-player-with-violent-history-after-cnn-inquiries/ -
I'd be shocked if it was anything substantial - as normally those things are hard to keep under wraps. Plus you wouldn't typically wait 1 week and tease with silly hashtags and promo videos. I'd suspect it's something re: jerseys, new sponsorship. Something business related like that. It won't be an extension for Trouba, for example or anything player related IMO. But hey what do I know!

Damien Cox has supported the CFL for 46 years?! This is news to anyone who's ever heard him speak. -
One of these things is not like the other.... Like 'em or not, Kulikov & Mason were among the best FAs available at their position. Hendricks is a summertime-sign-a-vet for league minimum type deal which most teams do. This year's success / failure won't be determined by this guy.

Haven't been this excited for a non-Bombers game in awhile. Feet up, comfortable at 7-2. Watch west teams beat up on each other in front of 40,000 fans. My kind of Friday. Have a great weekend Fort Hew fans!

The Most Important Game: Wpg @ Regina

Nah, 8 wins in your last 22 is funny. For us, anyway. since Nichols took over as our starter, we've won more road games than SSK has won in total. would you like some more facts to go with your incessant rambling or are you worn out yet? -
I'm simply not giving the Riders a gold star for beating a team that beat them the very week earlier. And we didn't beat BC - so you're off there, too.

Aug.5/17: BC 30 Riders 15 Score after 3: 22-0 BC Yardage: BC 547 Riders 349 Possession: BC 38 mins Riders 22 mins And turnovers were even, so that wasn't a decider.... they just plain took you guys to the cleaners.

A. The Argos, like the Riders are nothing special. So no points there. B. Riders did trounce the Lions, no doubt. But that was after losing by 15 to them the week before. Back-to-backs aren't really indicative of your team's overall play, IMO.

Is he though...is he making good points? Kindly point them out, I must be missing them. It's a tough sell saying a 3-4 football team is even equal footing with a 7-2 team. Then there's this.... http://edmontonjournal.com/sports/football/cfl/edmonton-eskimos/edmonton-eskimos-game-day-visiting-saskatchewan-roughriders-a-big-ticket -

The very problem with the Rider fanbase summarized nicely by the ramblings of Creed Bratton Mosaic. See, for every Ripper, there seems to be a dozen of these blowhards. The ego on this guy, eh? ?? Kid.... your franchise is factually one of the worst in North American pro sports. 100+ yrs. 8 team league (avg). 4 bleepin' Championships. You guys are the Washington Generals of the CFL. Not only a joke of a franchise history-wise, what HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY. While Saviour Jones has been losing far more often than not, humble O'Shea keeps guiding us to W's. Yeah, 1990-me all you want. We're better now and we've historically been better. At least we don't wear fruit on our heads and brag about *still leading the league in trips to the big game. Congrats on the fandom out there. Really. Sell-outs, merch sales and the like are great things. So is a new stadium. We should know these things, y'all tell us 8 days a week. You're a poor, misguided fan....or a weak minded, silly troll..... not sure what's worse. Stinks like bad eggs & ham in here now, we're going to have to hose the forum down. Thanks a lot. **All that said.... heck no to moving Labour Day. Sask residents need 1 day a year to be important. Let's not rob them of that. #tradition -

Personally, I'd love to see Johnny Football north of the border. Wonder if he waits for June... -

Holy heck I guess I don't know this league at all! I haven't heard of half those guys. Oh....well that explains that. -
One of my faves. The secret service telling the President what he can't do was hilarious. Need more of that now, I figure!!

Whoa that league is still around?! And Sask has 2 teams?! ...and to think I didn't even know who the 2nd and 3rd best pro teams in the province were. -
Netflix standup special on the horizon for Jerry Seinfeld. This in addition to Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee coming to Netflix late 2017. http://ew.com/tv/2017/08/22/jerry-seinfeld-netflix-standup-special/

I wasn't overly disappointed or surprised with missing the playoffs last season, though I think Edm and Tor making it in did create some extra bellyaching from our fanbase. Not sure whether that's fair or not. This season, entirely different story. Re: coaching - I think it's a hard sell for anyone to suggest coaching hasn't held us back. I mean sure we've been rife with holes in our lineup, but of bigger concern is the same things we were bad at last year, were bad the year before. Recurring problems. Huge year for Maurice. I still think back to his comments when he was introduced after Noel was canned; something to the effect of, "this team's going places...might not get there under me, but they'll get there..." Very telling.

Wasn't sure where to put this... Winnipeg soon to be added as a bureau under The Athletic banner. I for one am always starved for more sports content, and I think these guys have been doing it right, bringing on board lots of a-list sports personalities. Hopefully they'll make some good local hires and improve the city's print content for sports. https://theathletic.com/86695/2017/08/23/whats-next-for-the-athletic-glad-you-asked/
